Reputation and stuff

Since this topic about reputation is still open, I was just out of curiosity wondering:

Why do I for every rep get different points?
For instance: sometimes I get 5 points, sometimes 30 points, etc.

It all has a variety of factors. Getting reputation points from a member that has a high reputation will give you a large number of points. Also for experience as well.

Hi there, that's not what i was referring to my friend. Excuse my poor English. I was trying to ask if it was possible to see a commetn you wrote while giving rep. Given your answer i do not think so. :)

Hi. :waving:

Yes.. lol I've always thought this would be of use as well. I know we can see who gives us the most recent 'reps' but, we can't see a list of the most recent 'reps' we've given. I try to always remember as best I can though.
Cheers

Here's some info. about rep. points. This reputation point grid shows what each mean.

What is reputation?
Reputation is a way of rating users depending on the quality of their posts. If the administrators have enabled reputation, then the reputation icon will be visible in posts.
Reputation may be positive
reputation_pos.gif
, negative
reputation_neg.gif
or neutral
reputation_balance.gif
. Negative reputation may only be given if the administrator has enabled this. Neutral reputation is only given when the person giving reputation does not meet the criteria set by the administrator to affect someone else's reputation.
How do I give reputation?
To give reputation, click on the reputation icon in the relevant post. This will reveal a form to complete with the reputation type and the reason for giving the reputation. If negative reputation is disabled then it will not be displayed in this form. You may not give reputation for the same post twice.
How do I know what reputation I have received?
You can view the reputation that you have received in your User CP (User Control Panel) where it is displayed at the bottom of the User CP page. Here you will see the latest reputation that you have received and whether this is positive, negative or neutral. Your total reputation will be shown as series of reputation indicators in your posts and profile. The more positive your reputation, the more positive icons will be shown. The more negative your reputation the more negative icons will be shown.
How much reputation is given? What is reputation power?
If the administrator has enabled this, the amount of reputation that each user will give (or take away if negative) is shown in the user's posts as 'Reputation Power'. The value of the reputation power is determined by the administrator and may increase over time depending on the settings they have applied.
What if I don't want anyone to see my reputation?
You can disable the display of your reputation by going to your User CP and selecting Edit Options. On this page you will find a check box labelled 'Show Your Reputation Level'. Un-checking this box will remove the display of your reputation and replace it with the Reputation Disabled icon. You can still give and receive reputation while your reputation display is disabled.

I hope that helps some people alittle bit. :)

Where can I see my rep points? This new layout is confusing me and I can't find that page anywhere.

^ Click on the forum settings dropdown at the top of the forum then click general settings and that will take you to your user CP. :)

^ Doesn't show the reputation though, is there something else we need to click on?

^ to get to my UserCP where I see my reps, I go through 'Quick Navigation' (under the post's, on the right) and I click on 'Settings' and I see my reps.

Hope this helps! :)

It worked! LOL I never thought of clicking there. Thanks...

Sadly there is no UserCP button but like its been said go to forum actions, then general settings. If you click the settings link you'll get your rep points page. The reputation feature is now the star button underneath a posters sig.

Sophielo, that's what I did too at first (found it by just clicking around until my fingers hurt, haha), but there is a simpler way:

This is like trying to learn the internet all over again. ;)

I still can't find the reputaton page.. :D Where is that 'quick navigation' nita posted about..??

You're welcome! Maybe they'll edit the navigation so that it's easier.

I've been trying to give rep to some people and I get something like this: You must spread some rep before giving it to ???again. Why do I get this message?

You can't keep giving it to the same person, I think once you rep someone you have to rep say, 5 other people before you can rep that same person again.

The amount of green bars you get depends on rep points. Here's a chart explaining it:

Hello
I've been wondering for awhile when my status will change according to the Rep Points graph?
For example I have over (1600 point(s) total) and no bad rep points. So I'm at the maximum green bars, I have been for some months now... isn't that when the "has much to be proud of" changes to something other? ...or am I missing something? Since I became I member of MJJC I have worked very hard to become a Proud and respectful... helpful member as well as Staff since the end of 2009 when MJJC Legacy Team Project Staff started. Also, there's a new edition since the board has been upgraded just over the last week maybe, I see a second list of my latest rep points with a title above that states reputation power.
I looked through the FAQs and can't find this info. now as I used to find it.
Much Love MJJC!
Thanks :)

I think you have to have more than 1600 points to get a title change. As you can see in the graph, the maximum number of green bars starts at 1500 and ends at nearly a million. I've only seen one user who had a title above this one (there probably are more, but I don't know of them ).

What I meant by "I'm at te maximum green bars" was that I was in that row.
All I was wondering was what came next............ :fortuneteller: other than a million which is a lot obviously.

Yeah, I know what you meant. But I'm not sure when it changes. Maybe at 3000 points. I don't know.
