Tough decision for me between Britney Spears and Taylor Swift. Britney's "singing" is horrible but then she's a good dancer. I can't stand Taylor's monotonous singing but then she does write her own songs.

Oh, forget it, they're all annoying in some way!

Edit: calmed down and voted for Taylor Swift, lol.

I have to go with Rihanna. Other than her good looks and her ever-changing sense of style, she dosen't really have much going for her when it comes to musical talent. She would have been better off choosing a career in fashion modelling.

Beyonce is actually talented compared to Rihanna but she isn't super amazing and all that either like her marketing team and she herself, make her out to be.

There is one female "artist" who should be on this poll and is 10x worse than any of the artists above combined......KE$HA!!!! Her music is effing garbage especially that horrible "Blah Blah Blah" single she has just released. :puke:

Britney, Britney Britney, she's been overrated from the start. When baby one more time hit on the radio I couln't believe how such a nasal awful pitch with zero harmony could make people go crazy. She was made to be a lab wonder since she was on disney channel, the typical cute girl who looks good but doesn't sing s***t. And to me the fact that she can dance is not enough to give her credit, artist's skills must be integral.

I liked Britney for like a week when the first album came out, then I threw my CD away and haven't looked back. She should have been history a long time ago, she's nothing but a lip syncing stripper.

I say TWO of today's female artists that are overrated are Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga. Why? Because Lady Gaga is trying to copy Madonna and Taylor so cannot sing. I really don't like them!

This one was tough. I picked Beyonce. I think she's overplayed, overrated big time. Her voice really irritates me. The songs she does aren't great by any stretch of the imagination. But Taylor Swift comes in a close second, followed by Rihanna. There, I've said it. Now shoot me.

I voted Beyonce, but I also think Gaga is over rated and Rhianna too.

Beyonce because, well, she puts on a good show, she CAN perform very well live. But as an artist, I dont think she's creative enough, not groundbreaking. Same with Rhianna. To be honest it all sounds the same, there's nothing out there that really grabs you...

For that reason I have to say Swift is a breath of fresh air at least, and she's still very young, the recognition she has received will hopefully encourage her to break out and do more original stuff. I'm sick of the beyonce's and gaga's.....much ado about no-thing.

Out of today's female artists, Alicia Keys is probably my favourite, she keeps it real.

Beyonce, they are treating her like she's the next tina turner, eretha frankilin, diana ross, etc. And i think that's shameful.

The Beyonce fans think that she is the closest that someone's ever gotten to MJ..I love her, but I think she has a long way to go..

dont really know who swift is so i vote for rhianna. voice grates like hell

all of them if you ask me. I cant stand Lady Gaga and will Brit cant sing. Her stage shows arent even original. she copied MJ and Janet's dancing big time.

After seeing her on utube in the video singing "the way you make me feel" she did no justice for the song, she cant sing and she ruined it.

Go check it out, her voice is like a squeaky mouse.

I am good at observing dancers and singers and I listen and not only listen I observe. Not to many singers have that Octa 6 voice.

to name a few .........Jennifer Hudson.......amazing voice , when she didnt win on American Idol that year and I hate that show now............I knew it as the audience knew she would go on, shes so good I dont even know who won that year, shes out there the most.
another singer.........Mariah Carey always had the 6 octa voice.
Michael Jackson of course
theres not to many,
Cher has an original voice shes awesome, any one whose still around since the beginning of time is an icon.
Most come in and go out as fast as they come in.

Exactly. It really irritates me how low people's standards have become. Can't they really see the huge difference? Just like saying JT is the next Michael and so no rubbish. Man, there was a time when people looked at talent. Do you think a talent like Stevie Wonder could have been nearly as recognized had he been of this generation? Not even close. Had he been of this generation, we would have lost a great talent overlooked because people are way to interested in GaGa's insane outfits and Swift's (I have no freaking idea what the appeal is).

The Beyonce fans think that she is the closest that someone's ever gotten to MJ..I love her, but I think she has a long way to go..

Not in a trillion years would Beyonce be even close to the great Michael Jackson. How sad that people would actually think of comparing. This is disrespectful to Michael because that way we overlook all of his amazing records and unparalleled achievements.

To all those who voted Beyonce :

Have you actually listened to her entire album; I am Sasha Fierce? It's not bad at all. It isn't genius but it's beautiful.

The only reason Beyonce is "overrated" is because there simply isn't anything better out there! And let's admit it - that Beyonce is one extremly hard working woman. Give her credit for that. She needs to be much more creative with her live shows and videos but she is working very hard. She's only 28 and has been doing it since she was 18. Cut her some slack. And no, don't bother comparing her to Michael when he was 28 because that's unrealistic.

I have listened to all her albums. Ave maria, Halo and Single Ladies were the only songs I liked from the 16 track album Sasha Fierce. The rest was generic mix of pop/r&b and something so terrible it can't be fit in a genre (diva, video phone, radio etc.)

And for the record, we are not hounding HER, we are just baffled by the undeserved praised she is getting. I don't care if she worked since she was 8, her work was lacking. I don't care if there is no better competition, because they are not even comparing to this generation's caliber, they are putting her on the all time caliber which, again, is extremely shameful.

She's talented but c'mon, really?

About Lady Gaga - I really love this woman but yes, I also agree that she's ruining her career. She's doing too much, too early. I saw a topless photoshoot of her and though "uh-uh..too early" You should only do that after like 10, 20 years in the business and I personally believe you shouldn't do it all together. It kills mystery.

She's not the best she can be, I believe. But it's just that some people treat it like she cannot sing. :bugeyed Beyonce can sing.

Madonna. I never understood the hype. The music doesn't stick with me and I found the early 90ies "shock and awe" stuff silly- so you have to get naked to get noticed...now it's still blah. I miss something original in it. People have different tastes, I guess.

Sometimes I think media is so used to write about someone that they just don't want to bother with someone new that could be out there.

Speaking from the minority here, I just don't dig Lady Gaga. I like quite a few of her songs though...she's just too much for me lol...something doesn't sit right.

Most names in that poll are overrated...

I'm starting to feel shes extremely fabricated. She's not "a pop star" per se to me, but she did make herself an "image" of a pop star. Know what I'm saying? It's like someone naturally being a pop star, even against their will versus someone who concentrates on fabricating themselves as a whole to provide the desired attention as a pop star. Have any of you seen Lady Gaga before she became Lady Gaga???

Take a look at these youtube clips of her before she donned the gold locks and called herself Lady Gaga.

clip 1. (from tv show called Boiling Point. Shes the one in black. dated 2005)

clip 2. (her performance at a bar club)

I feel Lady Gaga is more like a person sitting behind a chair, using herself as tool to fabricate anything that would create an uproar, energy and controversial critique. She knows exactly what she's doing. And its like taking people for a ride. I think some people can accept that and find it inspiring while others like myself, sort of feel they can see right through her antics and it sort of spoils the fun.

Im trying to like her. But her recent telephone video lost brownie points.

@ Nar on Gaga... I can't help but think her art has become transparent. The magic isn't there. the magic is a key ingredient she leaves out. Not my 'trip'.

I think you're right, Lady Gaga is not her, its her creation, I think thats the point though, thats her whole 'thing'. She calls herself a 'performance artist'. The whole thing is a performance.

I was starting to like her but the Telephone video lost brownie points for me too. There were elements there that showed she could have done something special but I was left underwhelmed.. it didn't have the magic.. maybe there was some for like a a few seconds but overall no.

Gaga is very overrated! I don't understand why people like her so much..
