Your most-intense-goosebumps-Michael moment?

DBMR gave me goosebumps. Really don't know how or why but it sent me crazy when I first heard it!

The Way You Make Me Feel/Man In The Mirror at The Grammys (the acapella beginning and hearing his feet when he started jumping during MITM).
Earth Song on Wetten Dass (the move he does right before he goes into the "what about" part).

Love these details....Totally agree :D

"Kay funkay hoo !!!!!!!" I love these two scenes (the first scene is the dance part and the second one is the speech one). I like hearing James say "Two, two three ah !" with that teacher body language as if he's teaching Michael. Mike bows like "my pleasure ! :D :D :D :D" lol. I love the second scene because it's very emotional. Two, two three ah !

Thanks for bringing this up. Yep, another goosebump moment.
I would watch this clip over and over again. Sometimes, like 10 times in a row. Crazyyy, I know.
I don't care what nobody says, the most magical TV appearances of him ever.
Looks like he was genuinely happy, which makes it all more exciting.

One of moments. Actually every time he does something freestyle like that.

Its hard to choose just ONE thing from Michaels great artistry that gives me goosebumps - I can get goosebumps listening or watching something from Michael that I have seen / heard a million times, like the Whoo at the beginning of DSTYGE.
Another example of something I get goosebumps from every time, is the ad libs in Earth Song...:

You're ever so welcome. :)

Oh and another one for me is Michael singing "I Love You" on stage with James Brown :)

I love this performance. The scream and dance are so brief but so powerful. James Brown's facial expression is priceless. Look how he's waiting for the moonwalk. The spin is phenomenal, he does it so effortlessy. Superhero effortlessness.

Theres so many first has to be finally getting to watch him perform Billie Jean on the Bad Tour Wembley DVD waited so long to see it, it didnt disappoint.

Second has to be when he first sings after the spoken part of Tabloid Junkie gets me everytime.

When the drums kick in on Who Is It

The Anti-gravity lean in the Smooth Criminal Vid

I think you guys will have to ban me for me to stop posting in this thread because his career is full of goosebumps moments. Things i love about this performance:

- The beatbox combined with the dance steps at the beginning + the way he drops his hat and attacks the microphone after that. I love the way his feet kiss the beat when he attacks during that part.

- The twitching shoulders, especially the one at 0:12 because it translates that heavy sound so well.

- The toe stand + the "who's still wondering ?!!!" body language and the claps after the toe stand.

Very nice performance, i love the way he's showing off.

I guess mine have to be seeing the newspapers the day after the TII press conference.

One of them had this picture on the front page:

If I recall correctly, the headline stated "The King Is Back".

I love the fact that the backing singers sing when there's only one spotlight at 10:06. I love it ! They're saying things with their mouths while he says things with his body. It also feels like they're guiding him since he's in the dark. "Ok go on your left, no no you went too far, ok go straight now". This effect is exacerbated thanks to the way he's wearing his hat which prevents him from seeing what's in front of him + the way he "hesitates while walking". Poetry in motion.

the most recent ones for me :

- in 2009 when i read about TII announcement and saw a video where he announced the tour.
i was so so excited and happy.... 'this is it, this is really it.... the final curtain call'....

- the first listen of his unreleased tracks. HT made me faint and Chicago this year, was the same. those very first moments of never before heard vocals.... hopefully there will be coming more over the years.

Was re-watching Man in the Mirror Grammy's performance, and I still freaked out like a fanboy to how incredible and soulful that performance was. Also listened to "Seeing Voices" snippets and had a fan moment again, haha :D

In the past, listening to "Earth Song" for the first time, watching Captain EO at Disney World, and listening to "We've Had Enough" for the first time.

Edit: Funny enough, the premiere snippet of "Breaking the News" was also a goosebumps moment... at least until I heard the vocals, lol
Since I didn't discover Michael until 2010, it was the first time as a fan I could look forward to something "new".

I'd say hearing Man In The Mirror & 'I Can't Help It' for the first time. And then when i saw Thriller, Dirty Diana & Billie Jean Live in 1988, oh what i would give to see a full show in High Def :wild:

Goosebumps, sooooo many. MJ is made of the stuff that causes goosebumps, lets be real.

First one I ever remember was watching Earth Song's video. That had such a huge impact on me - and that was before I was a fan. Especially that moment when everyone drops to their knees!

Earth Song, the song itself, especially the ending. "Burnt despite our pleas!"

Then...pretty much every live performance of Human Nature ever done. She's out of My Life too.

I like MJ's later versions of Billie Jean, especially the solo parts with just the one spotlight that Word referenced earlier. Definitely goosebumps.

Live WBSS: "lift your head up high and scream out to the world!" and the the transition into the 'mama se' part.

Liberian Girl. The entire song.

MAN IN THE MIRROR GRAMMY PERFORMANCE 1988. OMG, I watched that so many times there has to be a world record. One of his best ever. CHURCH! Also Man In the Mirror as a song itself especially when the song make that...KEY CHANGE! You know the one. Where it sounds like the choir is parting the Red Sea with just one word "Change!" lol

The whole Smooth Criminal video - long version. Everything about that video is so brilliant to me that I get goosebumps every time I watch. Just the costuming to the camera angles (like the shot of everyone dancing the main chorus from up above, or the shot of MJ jumping on the stage with the microphone). Just sick. Sick!

Moonwalker the movie...MJ's return after taking out meanie Frankie Lideo and the kids were crying over him. Its especially moving now. "I had to come back," :(

MTV 10 WILL YOU BE THERE PERFORMANCE. I cried. And I cried again and again. That performance was soooooooo beautiful, there are no words. Especially the middle choreography - its like praise dance. And obviously the ending poem recitation, when MJ cries at the end. I just can't with this performance.

Pretty much the entire song Will You Be There on its own.

Man In the Mirror ending Dangerous tour, when they're preparing MJ for "lift off" and he's just going nuts with emotion from MITM - while everyone else is on stage getting stuff ready :D :D

SUPERBOWL PERFORMANCE. Nuff said.

Remember the Time's whole video. I think the production is just really really beautiful.

Who Is It. In general.

Heal the World. In general. "We can fly so high, let our spirits never die,'....pretty much that whole verse.

Black Or White panther sequence.

The Pepsi commercial when he sings with his kid self.

MJ in the studio with Stevie Wonder
Just too much talent in one place, jfc

The HIStory Trailer, I didn't get it when I was younger but now that I look at it now - WOW. What a masterpiece. And even when I DIDN'T get it and thought it was weird, it was still goosebump inducing because it was so ridiculously EPIC.

Childhood the song. (especially the musicality behind it. the composition. And the transition into the line "like PIRATES and adventerious dreams...!" Its like MJ's vocals are making you fly.

Little Susie the song. (same thing. the musicality. "She knew no one cared." and "neglection can kill like a knife in your soul")
Smile the song.

The gunshot sound at the end of D.S.

HIStory, the song, "All nations sing, lets harmonize all around the world."

Stranger in Moscow, in general.

Morphine - listening to the middle section for the first time. I think I died inside from all around feels.

Is It Scary, the whole song - especially those b-sections. "Am I amusing you or just confusing you am I the beast you visualize" "And if you want to see eccentricalities, I'll be grotesque before your eyes"

The Elizabeth I Love You performance. So touching!

Lost Children, the chorus and MJ's vocals combined with the choir- so many LAYERS! Its incredible.

MJ's voice in this:

The Jacksons reunion for the 30th Anniversary (plus MJ's vocal showing off at the end of I'll Be There "Just call my naaaaaaaamme - HA HAAAAAH!")

I'll just list them off: Fall Again, For All Time, Best of Joy, I Like The Way, Free, I'm So Blue, Someone in the Dark, Someone Put Your Hand Out ....all of these songs, plus the NUMBER ONE goosebump-inducing 'rare' song IMO:

Honestly, MJ's voice in this plus the musicality sounds like it was made purely of rainbows, unicorns, puffy clouds and sparkles.

On LWMJ: "I would like to live forever."

Loving You - the original demo.

The many many stories of MJ doing incredibly selfless things for people.

And I think the number one goosebump-inducing MJ moment for me is just reading Dancing the Dream straight through. Its the very thing that made me a fan of him as a person and to this day, it always gets me crying.

The ones which come to my mind straight away:
yesterday was watching Jam performance from London, so amazing, it felt like whole stage was exploading, immense energy.
Lovely one performance from Yokohama
Heartbreak hotel Live at Bad tour
Human Nature just everytime I hear it, the last time was the One show in a new mix on youtube, I was blown away.
His dancing to Billie Jean at History tour
Dreams commercial backstage

- When I was 4 years old, watching "Moonwalker" for the first time. lol Completely gobsmacked and infatuated, from that moment on lol.

- In '03 in Vegas, I was in a crowd when he was in (at that time) the mall in the Aladdin Casino. I still don't know how he figured out that it was me that called his name lol. I asked him if I could hug him, he walked right up to me and squeezed me. I figured I'd probably never be this close to him ever again lol, so I said right into his ear "this world needs you Michael". He then grabbed my head, KISSED MY FRIGGIN' CHEEK, then walked off, but continued to keep a hold of my hand until he was out of reach.........

CLOUD 9 STATUUUUUUUUSSSSSS lol. I'm so so incredibly grateful that I was able to tell him what I did with my own lips, and know he actually heard it.

Great choices and I love your descriptions--agree especially with the bolded comments. Yes, EPIC is the right word for the HIStory trailer. I think with the HIStory trailer MJ is basically kicking butt big time--like you wanted to accuse me of WHAT?? Prosecute me for WHAT?? I'm not who you think--I'm EPIC! I'm the King! I'm Legend!! I am Forever!! I also LOVE that costume he wears--OMG. A real goose-bumps moment for me is when the camera focuses on his thighs as he walks and when he stands still--the silhouette--O.M.G.

Re Childhood-thanks for your comments. Raven at allforloveblog has a post up now that talks about how it is often dismissed as too maudlin and saccharine and maybe even "cringeworthy," but it is a key song. You are right--he gets a lot of excitement and energy in his voice and demeanor when he sings the line about 'Pirates"--good observation!!

His voice in Planet Earth--wow--that reading is loaded with major goosebumps for me, esp. the line: "Planet Earth, gentle and blue, with all my heart, I love you." Awwwwwwwwwwwwww. Incredibly sweet.

A major goosebump for me was seeing Motown 25 and his performance of Billie Jean. A knockout performance for sure.

Another was seeing him do Dirty Diana--which I did not see til after he died. When he kind of does this amazing body move where he rises up on his toes into Slash's guitar from the floor--after screaming COME ON!! Major multiple goosebumps on that!!

I also love the video for One More Chance--it's shot from the back and it's kind of exciting to see him that way. I love how he shakes hands with the people on stage.

Love his dancing in In the Closet--wow!! so HOT. :)

I love the amazing body wiggle/shake that he gives in TWYMMF too. So many goosebumps.

One more major goose bump: Come Together--Oh My God!! Never will be matched for hotness, ever. He flaunts it.

On more goose bump: 2 Bad on Ghosts--love the opening stuff with the ghosts, the way he moves into the song, the buildup and then the explosion into dancing and "Look who just walked in the place, dead and stuffy in the face!!" Try to bring me to my knees but 2 bad! I love it all.
