The "new" Vocals. What ya think of it?

I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking they're new  I noticed it since the first time I listened to the song. Definitely different from Thriller era ;)

Sounds catchy, though I'm more used to his soft vocals  I'm still waiting to NEW songs :D

lol.i feel like he could go soft or edgy, anytime he wanted too, as well..like 'one more chance' sounded soft...but i guess he decided to give it the edge this time...:)

The vocals are ok I guess, but i really dont like the remixes. These could have just been made by fans, i have heard fan-made remixes of Michael´s classics who were much better!!

Well if people couldn't decide if it was new vocals or from Thriller era and his official web pages say it is new I guess he can still sing, huh? ;)

:p

I always thought it was so stupid that people questioned whether Michael could still sing or not. The boy is in his vocal prime for crying out loud, and has been since History. What, do they think that just because the last song he recorded and released was in 2004, that he, magically, over the last 3 years lost his ability to sing? How stupid can you get, lol.

His voice sounds fantastic, every bit as good as it ever did. I thought the vocals were new. Michael didn't even really reach vocal maturity until the late 80s I don't think.

And pleeeease people, lets refrain from giving Michael singing tips. The man's been a professional vocalist for over 40 years, I think he knows how to sing and time a song a hell of a lot better then anyone here.

Michael wanted to style it edgy because the original is edgy and up tempo. He isn't going to sing the verse softly, he's gonna make it harsh cause that's his style for faster paced tracks a lot of the time. The chorus of this remix (which Akon sounds blah in) is mid-tempo, close to up-tempo, so Michael paced it right, considering he comes in afterwards.

*fingers crossed* that we'll get a complete 2008 MJ vocal track of WBSS (without Akon) when the single officially drops...

It really amaze me that some Michael fans always are negative about something MJ does. When we FINALLY hear some new vocals then there are people like you who are just negative and it makes me angry. it makes me angry when the vocals are actually REALLY GOOD.

Im not being negative i said they were good. Im just expressing an opinion (which im allowed to do) that i thought personally the vocals were to fast paced for the style of the song. This version of WBSS is much slower than the original.

whaaa? i don't even know what ur talking about from what i heard of the song(as far as too fast paced)....i guess it's a good thing everyone has their own point of view or interpretation after hearing...:)

of course i once thought his vocals for 'jam' were too fast paced..then after a second listen, it was fine...it was as if my ears were playing tricks on me.

As you said everyone has their view. I just felt the vocals were a lil too fast in their tempo and phrasing. I actually like the rawness of them and attitude behind the phrasing...just i felt slightly too fastly sang.

And as for Jam, Jam is a more uptempo song so the fastly sang lyrics work.

Im not being negative im just expressing an opinion. We all know Michael has an AMAZING voice, with great phrasing technique, great range and control...just my personal opinion about this track.

Michael's vocals are & always have been on point! I agree totally with you Wannabe

Bring on some new music noow! :) Where we don't need to have Akon all over the track singing about how he made a girl scream MJ songs in bed :ninja:

Amen! I love his singing and his dancing more! He dances while he records a song!

i think they are new in the beginig but in the midle in michaels part are old.mut if they are new all the way they are amazing!!!

I love his vocals of the present day.

Listening to his voice go from that of little Michael Jackson to Mr. Michael Jackson has been a joyful journey indeed.

His voice is still enthralling. I can still listen to him around the clock and enjoy every second.

^ I say For All Time's vocals ( alot of them) were re-done also....sounds splendid! :D

I heard them for the first time today from a friend (was gonna wait till it came out to buy but broke down - lol )
I honestly think they sound just mixed and no new vocals from Michael. On WBSS it sounds iffy but still u can tell ALOT of it is just from back then and not voiced over much at all....i like it but for some reason i was expecting it to sound totally new.
And i definately think Akon hogged it for sure :(

It's amusing to me how some of y'all are convinced it's "new". Ok, maybe WBSS '08 is new but I know "Billie Jean" and "Beat It" aren't, "The Girl is Mine" is a question mark because although it's obviously samples the '81 demo, it's not clear if the "you know, you know I care"/falsetto notes near the end are "new" or was left off the '81 demo, "P.Y.T. '08" is of course the '82 demo, and that leaves "For All Time", it could be new vocals or a second "finished" version recorded in 1989 for "Dangerous". You never know, lol. It's all good though. Mike's vocals are so that you can't tell if it's new or not, lol. It's best to say that most of the stuff was remastered for better quality and also used as a sneak attack by Sony to see where fans think it's old or new. ;)

I have to agree. I still don't think WBSS is new vocals even though it was "confirmed" on facebook. There are definitely vocals we haven't heard on TGIM and WBSS but I don't think they are new.

The exception is For All Time. I do think some of the vocals in that are new, especially the bridge.

Who knows? They all sound great and I'm excited about the package!

I heard WBSS for the first time yesterday and I was suprised to hear new vocals from MJ. I think he sounds great!

I feel the vocals are new but hey! whatever! I'm loving what I'm hearing and thats what counts to me. I'm wishing the weeks away so I can go buy it in a store.

I've only heard WBSS and For All Time, and the vocals on WBSS sound new to me. Sony is saying they're new. We'll wait for the credits. For All Time I only listened to once and from that I think the vocals are original, from 89, 90, whenever he recorded it, lol.

Sometimes words are such that they are open to interpretation but that sounds pretty straightforward to me.

Na na na na to the not new peeps.

Just kidding.:p;)

It is more fun to think of them as new vocals, especially when people can't tell. Hmmm.... He still "sings like a bird" .

You go Michael.:jump:

That's why his vocals are too hard to tell if they're new or not so you can expect people to either say they're new or say they're remastered old recordings, lol.

Well I knew all along it was one of those two.

*Pats self on back*

Arg, our old lmao emoticon was eaten by the new one. Viscious little buggers aren't they?

Haha, I'm a "not new peep". I agree it's open to interpretation. "New" could easily mean "unheard" but I will reserve my judgement for the single, where I can hear it better.
