I saw a lead line in the news yesterday that said it looks like there will be a resolution of the screen writer's strike. People keep forgetting that this is going on and that it impacts what does or does not happen on tv these days. You have both the reluctance of performers to cross the picket lines and also the fact that quality control will not be good because the technicians are supporting the strike.

I don't think Michael's in the writer guild and even so performing is not writing.

a melody would be cool. A melody performed by MJ would be even COOLER lol

If he just shows up on stage I'll go coocoo for Michael puffs, lol. He doesn't even have to perform. If he does, I might die, lol.

No offense, but I think that poster that was posting things from that Sony Rep only did that for attention. I figure, if you are going to tell fans about MJ supposely being in the Grammys, then you might as well say it. If you can't say it, then do not say it. It is that simple.

Everything I said is true - it has come directly from a Sony rep and passed on to me through admin at that forum.

Furthermore, I've recieved some more info about what was said at the meeting in New York:

Well remember the supposed X Factor appearance? That wasn't just a rumour, that was to literally go ahead.

But as soon as this was leaked by the press, Michael swiftly pulled out from his X factor appearance because it 'was no longer a suprise, and Michael likes suprising people' - so you can thank the press for that!

As for more on the Grammys,

Michael had been (in decemeber) in negotiations to do a Medley performance, including Beat It, Billie Jean, and Thriller - all were planned to include live vocals, an orchestra and an '8 piece dance troupe'.

^These were the planning stages, and it must be stressed that NOTHING was confirmed (as of december).


The rep said, at minimum there would be a tribute performance, but they were in negotiations to get Michael to perform.

That's basically all I've heard so far, and seeing as it HAS NOT been confirmed, I'm not going to expect anything.

I was never implying that you were lying. You were saying things and not really producing any details. The doubt was bound to happen.

^Yeah nah that's all cool. I couldnt produce exact details back then, like I could now, cause I'm constantly receiving more info regarding it.

The part about a Beat It, Thriller, BJ medley shocked the hell out of me.

I guess we will hey.. just have to wait it out :p

I don't know about timing but I had considered it a valid strategy. When they recently had people vote for their all time favorites a number of unusual artists combos came up. It seems to be a popular way to go.

There's nothing to be proved wrong anyway...

Like I said, back in December it was being discussed, and nothing was confirmed, so if an MJ performance at the Grammys doesn't end up happening then it obviously didn't 'work out' in the negotiations.

You don't have to apologize even if MJ ends up performing. I'm simply passing on credible and reliable information.

Many of the actors and performers were supporting the strike however.

Then they got MAD when they heard the writers were "working it out" with the studios after the director's deal reportedly. Like "how can they do that when we been supporting their a$$?" :lol: Well that's just a rumor but that was reported.

I think it's pretty clear now MJ likes suprising the world. I mean.. he pulled out of X factor because it was leaked to the press.. Akon has said he can't speak about the new album because 'MJ wants to shock the world', Will.i.am has said similar things, and that he can't say a thing about the new album.

So who knows what might happen at the Grammys hey?

I think even a tribute would be good. Can't wait!

I'm just interested, I don't know the terms of the strike 100%, but does writing also included songwriting? Do songwriters have to sign with writers guild and therefore should be on strike right now?

No. Unless they were writing for the TV theme shows and movie scores. Musicians aren't in unions unless they're actors themselves and even them some who do present songs to movies usually find themselves within the union.
 
Is this years grammy all about Michael Jackson?

Iam just asking if anyone know any info. I went to the grammys website and there T25 BANNER or nothing MJ related! If nothing big happens at the grammys lol then this will tell how MJ feels about thiller 25.

I think after the superbowl thing.. we should all just wait it out for the grammys, and not expect too much. Even if stupid sony explicitly tells us MJ will be there. :rolleyes:

I dont expect a "COMEBACK" maybe MJ may go there any say: Thank you to all my fans around the world. 25 years ago thiller ...bla bla...I love my fans from the bottom of my heart ..god bless you and then he does the peace thing with his two fingers.

I dont think the intention of T25 was to produce a solid comeback. It's there as a platfrom. Test the waters so to say, hence the release of the remixes with some probable collaborators on future projects. I think Michael wants to get some sort of indication as to how potential future release's will be recieved from the general public.

I think if Michael was to religiously promote T25 in the way of constant appearances, performances etc then it would kill any anticipation for Michael's new release's. Over exposure is never a good thing.

I never expected T25 to be an explosive success. It's just sony's way of dressing up a celebration of the biggest selling album in attempt to generate some money.

But yeah, I wish something would happen at the grammys...just to show appreciation/celebrate the 25 years since Thriller hit it big. They definitely HAVE to do a tribute to Mike!

If they don't I will protest! lol.

I totally agree with your post. I also think that if MJ went all out for T-25 as you meontined there it would have slimed the chances of him releasing a New album (for me) at least not in the immediate future.
That's why I am sooo excited that he is promoting T-25 indirectly etc but he is saving the Big times for the New stuff!
