Lawyers awarded millions over Michael Jackson taping
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The owner of a Santa Monica-based air charter service has been ordered to pay attorney Mark Geragos and an associate more than $12 million for ordering secret videotaping of Michael Jackson and the lawyers as they flew with the pop star to his surrender on molestation charges in 2003.
A lawyer for XtraJet owner Jeffrey Borer says he'll appeal the Monday judgment.
Borer and a co-defendant pleaded guilty in 2006 to conspiracy for installing digital cameras aboard an XtraJet plane that flew Jackson from Las Vegas to Santa Barbara.
The damages awarded Monday resulted from an invasion-of-privacy lawsuit.
Jackson was acquitted in the molestation case.

Bond Keeps Trio In Step
On Jan. 2, Amateur Night, about 64 friends and family members from Newington and New Haven took the train ride to Harlem.
" Michael Jackson moonwalked on that stage that we were performing on," Kuzoian said. "That in itself was an achievement to us."
Also, they didn't get booed.
Based on the Apollo crowd's applause and hollers, E3 placed second to a performer named Lil' Robby, who sang Al Green's "Let's Stay Together." E3 then earned a spot in the second round of Amateur Night.

Ne-Yo could be the next Michael Jackson
By Pocholo Concepcion
Philippine Daily Inquirer
First Posted 23:54:00 03/02/2008MANILA, Philippines - It’s not clear to us why Shaffer Smith adapted a stage name like Ne-Yo. Aside from sounding catchy and easy to remember, could the monicker also herald the arrival of a great new (“neo,” note) talent—the kind that would place him in the ranks of Michael Jackson?
Jackson fans may find the comparison premature, since Ne-Yo has been on the scene for less than two years. But his popularity as a singer is enormous, and his influence as a songwriter so pervasive, that he’s reportedly been hired to work on material for, guess what?—a new Jackson album.
Flashes
A few minutes into Ne-Yo’s concert on Friday at the Araneta Coliseum, there were flashes of Jackson’s image—circa mid-1980s, at the height of his powers as King of Pop, before the troubles began. This was because Ne-Yo, wearing a fedora over a black suit, started complementing his high tenor vocals with quick, snappy moves around the mic stand, recalling Jackson’s celebrated performances following the release of “Thriller.”
And, for a split-second, Ne-Yo was caught doing the moonwalk.
But whatever similarities or homage were apparent, we could not overlook the fact that Ne-Yo was his own man. He excelled in giving life to brooding R&B songs that explored the complications of love and relationships. A prime example was “So Sick,” his first big hit, which also opened the Araneta show.

CNY grad had a hand in Jackson's 'Thriller'

Õ7ForgerÕ Yes, Matt Forger says, the core five who worked so long and hard on the album "Thriller" 25 years ago knew they had something special.
Boy, were they right about that.
Of the nine songs on "Thriller," seven made Billboard's Hot 100 Top 10.
And, of course, the album went on to global sales of more than 104 million, the best-selling record of all time.
The memories came back full force for Solvay native Forger as Michael Jackson put together "Thriller 25."
Forger was a consultant for the package, a remastered edition of the record-setting album coupled with seven bonus tracks, including collaborations with Will.i.am, Fergie, Akon and Kanye West that was released on Feb. 12.
"I was contacted whenever people needed information,"
Forger says by telephone from his home in Chatsworth, Calif. "I'm the person who knows where all the little elements are hidden and what the little notes in the files mean."
Back then, Forger was in charge of the technology.
"At that time, all of it was recorded to analog tape with 24 tracks," he says. "The largest of my duties was managing a system that allowed us to use as many 24-track tapes as we could on each song, to develop the layered style of music that Quincy (Jones, the producer) and Mike (Jackson) envisioned."
