Don't Buy The Album!

I like the new song and I want to have the new booklet so I am gonna buy it for sure. Its gonna be a good addition to my collection to accompany the movie’s DVD/Blueray Disk which was his final project. Of course Sony is capitalizing and taking advantage of Michael but sadly that is business and money always comes first before anything else.

Michael Jackson doesn't NEED another number one and the estate doesn't NEED anymore money. There's nothing to prove.
However, Sony is profiteering from fans and we do need to make a moral stand. Sometimes, the bigger moral victory is more important than a few extra bucks for the estate and another no.1.
Let's have the courage of our convictions and refuse to be used as Sony's cash cow.

Thank you. Each person will need to follow his/her conscience. Personally, I will NOT be buying the album, watching the movie, or buying the DVD. I will never buy another Sony product again as long as I shall live.

Michael's legacy is PROVEN. He's the greatest artist of all-time. His music soared to the top of the charts upon his passing.

His children are billionaires. If I felt they needed money (and they don't), I would send it directly TO them, or repurchase an older album. Sony and the executors of the estate (McClain and Branca) make money on each copy of the album sold, each time the movie is viewed, and for DVD sales. McClain and Branca are the executors of the estate. They are also co-executive producers of the movie and the album. In effect, they hired THEMSELVES. Oh, and the TII song was a very poor choice, and caused more harm to Michael's good name. He NEVER would have released this song. The song is old. He had chances to include it on his albums, and never did. It was unfinished, and not up to his standard.

Each person will make a decision about to buy, or not to buy. There is no fault in either choice. I'm just sharing here what I intend NOT to do.

peace,

Victoria

I still insist that we should buy the album because if we don’t then people like Paul Anka will win… Even if he gets paid, for people like him it is a win-win situation, getting paid or destroy Michael’s legacy.

Michael’s legacy is worth more than money. Buying the album especially under these circumstances will show solidity and support for Michael because his album carries his name and we want it to be remembered for many generations to come as a success. If we make sure that this album will fail then we are doing a big favor for everyone who hates Michael and it will be a mark of shame that will not forgive ourselves for many years to come. Who cares who gets paid, we’re doing it for Michael.

AGREED 100 percent! :punk:

I'm personally not buying the album. I already have over 96% of the songs already. I think the album is great for someone that doesn't already own all of MJs albums. I was wondering, I haven't been in this section in a while, do you have to buy the whole album or can you buy just a song off of it?

You can refer to this news item. They are going to put it on iTunes and perhaps will allow selling the songs individually according to the known iTunes policy, this still needs to be confirmed.

Update: This article confirms it:

Exclusive: Michael Jackson’s This Is It Will Be Sold in iTunes

Apple and Sony have agreed to meet somewhere in the middle. As such, iTunes will sell two versions of the album. The album will contain everything that’s on the physical offering (two versions of the new “This Is It” single, four demos, and 14 previously-released “greatest hits” tracks), while the E.P. (extended play single) will include only the six previously unreleased tracks.

“We look forward to offering the new Michael Jackson album, as well as a digital-only E.P. with six previously unreleased tracks, providing fans a great way to get all of the new songs,” said Apple in a statement issued to Wired.com. “The iTunes Store will offer the album-only single ‘This Is It’ on both the album and E.P.”

I have just preordered it, after thinking about it for awhile. I want it for my collection and the booklet inside and course to support Michael. The people head of Sony have what money they want anyway, so I don't think it's gonna make much difference. I still feel a tiny bit guilty though

i got mine today Dance and i'm glad i did, i love the 2nd cd even though it only has the 3 demo's and the poem, the poem is beautiful btw.
i had to have it otherwise my cd collection would be incomplete. it wouldn't be whole, does that make sense?
oh and theres not a booklet inside the whole thing is a book with the cd's inside, its quite neat.

I will not be buying the album for now. I'm going to see how everything plays out. Maybe in some years, but I can wait.

Really my choice to not buy the album or see the movie is about standing for something, you guys no what I mean.

I am still very angry with Sony for reasons I will not get into here, and will not support them in any way.

There is a but though. I love Michael so much and want any and everything he has to offer so I might have to purchase something with sony on it. I want like it though and it will leave a bad taste in my mouth.

At one time I said I was bootlegging everything sony, but I digress. When I said these things it was out of complete anger and disgust for sony (which I still feel) But It's wrong. I know Michael would not approve.

So be thankful Sony that I have had a change of heart, but know anything I purchase from you will only have to do with Michael and because I am being forced to buy it from you. God how I wish he had got completly from up under you people. I will not buy anything else with Sony's name on it. Cause I really don't like you at all.

I agree with you completly.

That's why I will have to wait in see how things play out in years to come.

Oh for the love of...

You people just don't know when to give up, do you?

'This is it' was practically Michael's gift to his fans. The fans he loved dearly. Thats us! and you want to just throw it back at him?! Well go ahead! As for me, I am going to see the movie, buy the DVD AND buy the album, out of respect and love for MJ.

I don't care if Sony is behind this! You can be stubborn all you want! My love for Michael is stronger than my hate for Sony, so I WILL see the movie and buy the album!

I fully agree with you!

Money comes and goes… Michael is worth it even if it means buying the same album over and over again… We should not care if we will make Sony rich, they are rich anyway from other businesses and projects, we care about our Michael, his legacy and his glory, it will hurt when we see this album fail. Just like I said earlier, it is not about the money it is about the legacy.

Of course Im buying it
I dont want anything to take away Mjs Glory
for This is It _ He deserves for this album and
Movie to be a great sucess _ He earned it
I want all aspects of TII to be The Greatest
I want it to BREAK all records for MJ

I could care less about Sony ..
but MJs Legacy as the greatest
and his childrens estate means a lot to me.

This will seal Mjs legacy for the public amd music
industry _ and after this _ They will have to provide
unheard material to stay on Top and have fans purchase.

BUT TII is very Imortant to MJs Legacy
in My opinion _ If I listen to his TII song
his unreleased and his poem_ I would feel
like Im stealing from MJ amd his children

Just The TII song, unreleased songs and booklet
are well worth the price of that album

As long as I get something _ new I will purchase
even one song of MJs is worth the price of a whole
album to me .. if he makes number One I want to
be happy that I helped make that happen :)

I agree!

I bought the album but only because I heard the song "This Is It" straight from Michael back in 96. He sang a couple of lines as he left my friend & I. So that song means the world to me.

If Michael was around he would hold a screening for the movie. No one will ever know if he wanted "This Is It" or the other songs released but I'm sure he would he would have sung "This Is It" during the concert.

The movie is only the rehearsals of This Is It & is approved by the estate of Michael so what's the big deal?????? If the Jackson's are going to see it. Why shouldn't we?
I think it's great we can't have the concert but can have a movie.

Waw that must’ve been a great experience :)

The bloodsuckers will get their punishment eventually.

Right now, I am only thinking of supporting Michael.

i'm sick of pple telling me what i can or can not buy..... i will buy what ever i want for what ever reason i want... mostly because if its by MJ i will buy it. if anyone don't want to buy it then don't, but don't try to influence me.

I just want to say I would like to thank the ones who decided to buy the album, now it is going to be Michael’s 6th number one album on the chart, I’m very proud. :) Let us do it for Michael :praying

I have to agree with Arabian_Knight. This IS bussines wether its MJ or not. I did buy the album only for the booklet + the free huge poster with it. For those who wont buy it now, you can MJ's CD/DVD are everywhere in years so you cant regret not buying it now since you'll be able to buy it in future as well.
