That was a great article about the TMZ story. TMZ should be ashamed of themselves. They probably don't care but at least get the facts straight. I am wondering if they knew nothing wrong happened but spinned the story anyways to make it sound worse that it was. You are not just hurting Michael but his young son. That's not right. I hope someday all these people who do these things what goes around comes around someday.

I can't think of a recent story which has embodied that philosophy more than TMZ's supposed scoop yesterday, accusing Michael Jackson of pressuring a dentist into putting his youngest son Prince Michael II (AKA Blanket) to sleep with anesthetic.

'MJ Pushed Dr. To Improperly Give Son Anesthesia', read TMZ's headline. Shocking indeed. Certainly more shocking than 'MJ's Son Went To The Dentist Two And A Half Years Ago', which would have been a far more accurate assessment of the situation -- for while TMZ accused Jackson of 'subjecting one of his children to risky medical treatment', the truth was far more banal.

At the heart of this story is the allegation that in July 2008, Dr Mark Tadrissi performed oral surgery on two occasions, once on Jackson and once on his son Blanket, which required the use of anesthetic. The snag? Dr Tadrissi didn't have a permit to use general anesthetic in his office, but called in an anesthesiologist anyway and went ahead with the surgeries. Dr Tadrissi was investigated over his actions in 2009 and sanctioned by the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners in 2010.

The TMZ article appears to have been written with two specific intentions; the first, to suggest that Jackson was reckless when it came to drugs -- particularly anesthetic, an overdose of which caused his death in June 2009 -- and the second, to suggest that he was a bad father, ordering his then six-year-old child to undergo a procedure involving the 'risky' use of general anesthetic. In actuality, the facts and evidence demonstrate neither point.

Describing the use of anesthetic on a child during oral surgery as a 'risky medical treatment' is utterly inaccurate and entirely irresponsible. According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry's (AAPD) website, "General anesthesia can be helpful for children requiring significant surgical procedures." Jackson's son required two hours of dental surgery. The AAPD website also states that, "general anesthetic can be used safely and effectively when administered by an appropriately-trained individual in an appropriately-equipped facility." This brings me neatly to my next point.

According to TMZ's own version of events, which purports to be taken from internal documents, Dr Tadrissi told Jackson he wasn't able to administer anesthetic – so Jackson instructed the doctor to bring in a qualified anesthesiologist.

According to a legal document obtained by SawfNews.com -- a Stipulation Agreement filed by the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners in March 2010 -- Dr Tadrissi did exactly that, hiring a 'Nevada licensed anesthesiologist' to administer anesthetic during Jackson's own surgery. His son's surgery is not mentioned in the Stipulation Agreement, but there is no evidence to suggest that Dr Tadrissi's actions differed when treating the boy.

This confirmation that Dr Tadrissi hired a licensed anesthesiologist renders some segments of TMZ's article entirely fictitious, not least it's incredibly misleading headline, 'MJ Pushed Dr. To Improperly Give Son Anesthesia'. The anesthetic wasn't given by the doctor and it wasn't given improperly. Moreover, Jackson didn't push the doctor to administer anything. By TMZ's own admission, Jackson specifically asked for a professional anesthesiologist.

The article's first line is also fictitious, stating that, "Michael Jackson subjected one of his children to the same risky medical treatment that eventually killed him." Jackson died in his home after his personal doctor -- not a qualified anesthesiologist – self-confessedly administered anesthetic unnecessarily and did so without any of the necessary accompanying equipment. In other words, Jackson behaved like any other parent, allowing his child to undergo necessary medical treatment but first ensuring that it was to be done properly.

By wrongly accusing Jackson of 'pushing' and 'cajoling' the dentist into conducting a 'risky medical treatment', TMZ implies that the dentist's care was somehow substandard or dangerous. This is untrue. Dr Tadrissi did not stand accused of endangering his patients, giving substandard care or any other form of incompetence. He simply allowed a licensed anesthesiologist to sedate a patient in his clinic without the correct permit.

So for all TMZ's sensationalism -- which would have you believe that Dr Tadrissi is some sort of Dr Feelgood, dishing out anesthetic like lollipops -- his only real mistake was one akin to selling a few bottles of Wild Turkey out of one's garage without first acquiring a liquor license. Aside from covering the cost of the investigation ($2750), Tadrissi was simply required to complete eight hours of education (four on ethics, four on record keeping) and take a jurisprudence exam.

Through misleading and at times wholly inaccurate wording, TMZ has spun a bureaucratic misdemeanor into an exaggerated tale of medical malpractice and maniacally irresponsible parenting. The timing is suspicious; Dr Conrad Murray has just been ordered to stand trial for the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson and the media's coverage of both the singer and his physician could significantly impact potential jurors' views on the star's death between now and the trial. By twisting the facts in order to portray Jackson as a deranged diva who demanded the 'risky' use of anesthetic on himself and his six-year-old son, TMZ paints a picture of a man who could very easily have bullied his physician into giving him anesthetic or even have administered it to himself.

TMZ's sensationalistic story about Jackson's trips to the dentist is especially irresponsible given that the website is now seen by many as a go-to spot for news on the star. Ever since the site was the first media outlet in the world to break the news of Jackson's death (although many fans have labeled this a fluke, claiming that the site announced Jackson's death long before it was even called at the hospital) the website has achieved a level of popularity, recognition and perceived credibility which it had never before seen. Already, dozens of other websites have replicated TMZ's story and many more will almost certainly follow suit. In an industry plagued by 'copy and paste' journalism TMZ should take more care to ensure that its journalism is both fair and accurate. Neither can be said for yesterday's story.

I read that article too yesterday and all I could think of while reading it was....now, THIS person who wrote this is what I call a JOURNALIST!!! Someone who takes their job seriuosly and looks at the facts and uses their own brain!! And another thing I thought of was....just IMAGINE if everyone in the media was as ethical as this person.....how much better our world would be for everyone!! If the media would really just report with factual information and news without twisting everyword until you either won't be able to see the real truth from the article....or you need to read everything three times carefully and think hard to get the point and see which part were twisted or exaggerated.

Like TMZ says there's no mention of Blanket.

So it's a dental procedure with a reason for anesthesia (according to TMZ), that occured with a legit dentist and a LICENSED anesthesiologist (according to the dental board documents), that just happened in an office without permit for anesthesia (according to TMZ and dental board). So it's nothing more than a "location" and "documentation" issue and NOT a "medical risk" issue.

(If you read the above document you'll see the Board of dental examiner's sanction is based solely on "failure to acquire necessary permits").

Regardless I agree wholeheartedly that the headline is HIGHLY sensationalized and designed to make MJ look bad.

From reading the posts it seems in general (not just children, adults as well) that this is different in Europe. They seem to be a lot "quicker" with giving anesthesia at the dentist in the US than they are over here. I still think it's too dangerous though to do this, unless someone is so scared that it's impossible to do anything without anesthesia. I finally found a dentist who uses enough lidocaine and it works, no pain. No nothing. Most don't pay enough attention and just want to get it done quickly, so giving more lidocaine if the first injection wasn't enough is not something they usually do. That's why a lot of people are scared to death of dentists, because even with lidocaine, most of the time, it's torture.

Yep the same here!! I've been terrorized for years not going, because one doctor, used to work on me without anything not even light anesthesia spray. Because she didn't want to, and loved and enjoyed to see patients suffer, saying that is good to train with pain endurance. :smilerolleyes:

Now I found a doctor that gives me spray, then local injection, and if it's not enough I can ask for more. He stops every time I need, I can communicate very well with him. Sometimes anesthesia is so good I feel nothing... sometimes I do feel, but is not that bad, just a tad bit...

Now for implants, the day I would need one, if I need one, then.... I would need total anesthesia. I would die there in the chair without it. Heart attack out of fear... so I am prepared to pay the damn anesthesia... :bugeyed

In MJ's autopsy report it was menioned that there had been at least one root canal and if I remember correctly he had two implants as well...We don't know when he got those, but if it was in Las Vegas....as I said earlier....I'd want to be knocked out for a root canal also! Then my doctor is a genius. Even if I am big crybaby and very sensitive, I didn't feel pain on this procedure, several times and nothing. I could have sleep or watch a movie and didn't realize he is doing a root canal.

What bothers me at dentist is the vibrations. Now those ones I cannot stand... I feel like my brain is penetrated... even if I do not feel pain or feel just a little, I am petrified. Root canals though are more relaxant, meaning no vibrations and if local is done properly, is total numbness there.

Michael Jackson was in such a weakened state before he died ... it's unfair to blame his death on Propofol ...and we've learned this is precisely what lawyers for Dr. Conrad Murray will argue to a jury.

We're told Murray's lawyers will call witnesses to testify that Jackson was not showing up for rehearsals -- and when he did show, he was exhibiting "clear signs" of failing health.

The upshot of the defense ... even if jurors believe Dr. Murray administered the fatal dose of Propofol, Jackson was already in failing health.

But as TMZ has already reported ... Dr. Murray's lawyers will argue Jackson himself administered the fatal dose of Propofol to himself when Murray was out of the room.

The trial begins in April.

Enter Karen Faye.. this is sickening.. she is saying same things that Murrays defense are..

Karen is a nutter and a liar. Karen has always said that Michaels was not doing okay in the beginning but that his absolute best rehearsals were the last two ones and then everyone thought he would be able to pull it off... but now she recently she said on twitter how everything was great in the beginning but not in the end. Total contradiction of what this nutcase has been saying. Cant we find proof of this and throw it in her face? Someone needs to shut her up.

Below is the very first thing Karen wrote on her facebook June 2009 after MJ had passed.

""I want you to know he was full of love for all of you. He was looking forward to making everyone smile, and unite in these difficult times...to make the world a better place."

"he was working so hard...and he was so happy when I left him on Wednesday night...this is so difficult"

"I know how painful it is to loose this beautiful man....I can barely speak, but I must share with you his reason for getting on stage once again. It wasn't for money or to relaunch his career...it was to send the message that we must HEAL THE WORLD, before it's too late. He wanted to let us know that we have a four year window to get it right, to start walking the highest path, or we will loose the earth."
 
If Jackson was in failing health, it sure makes you look even guiltier, Murray, mad, shamelessly guilty. For you did absolutely nothing about that, you even told Ortega he was your patient and you're the only one to care for him, yet you drugged him and administered the anesthetic to him to death. Did everything a real doctor shouldn't have, and then covered for your tracks when you were supposed to have tried anything to save him from dying and call 911.

Ok Conrad you were his doctor there are three people who you said that Michael's health was fine. And the coroner and you're own medical records will destroy this defense

Thank you. Ortega sent him home, and the next day there's a group meeting, with you telling him to basically mind his own business, that you were the doctor. This guy is something else. And if MJ was in such failing health, all the more reason for you to STAY WITH HIM after giving him your special concoction or not give it to him at all.
 
That is their defense?! Wow, they're desperate. We know MJ wasn't in "failing health" from the autopsy report.

Are they going to say that Michael was terminally ill? That he would have died anyway even if Propofol hadn't been administered? :scratch:
It doesn't matter whether Michael was in failing health or in good health, he died from Propofol intoxication. If doctor didn't calculate the correct dosage, and failed to monitor the patient, it was doctor's fault.
 
Pathetic ... Even if true completely irrelevant. I hate tmz, murray and his lawyers. How do they sleep at night?
 
Not really surprising - from the moment TINI (and Karen Faye) started mentioning Michael's weight, health pointing fingers to AEG and TII concerts, all I can think is "reasonable doubt". (Same goes for the addiction talk).

Some will most probably be happy with this news and say that the truth is coming out and AEG will be kept responsible - but not gonna happen.

Is it just me, or does this LATEST defense read as if it comes straight from Katherine Jackson's lawsuit against AEG.

i.e., failing health, weakened condition, missing rehearsals, pushed to the edge.

Although, in my opinion, it's a HORRIBLE defense (LOL), it still makes for nice little soundbite.

I figured that sooner or later Murray's team would start using the Jackson family's words in an attempt to create a viable defense. I'm sure the "drug addict in denial" will be next, along with the "MANY, MANY failed interventions."
