“Hollywood Tonight” VIDEO premieres NOW

His voice sounds great! I don't see much of a difference between the album and this to tell you the truth.

I absolutely agree. Some fans are doing some serious nitpicking of this new "mix" as if it's a complete drastic change when it really isn't.

I loved it. I couldn't stop crying. That lovely voice. I miss Michael so much...

I didn't think the girl looked like she was always having a good time. I could see the disappontment on her face when she didn't get picked at an audition. I thought she looked hopeless when she saw the long line at the audition. She sure didn't look happy as a waitress.

She smiled when she walked down the street and saw the images of her inspiration.

I especially loved how after she had made it she knew she was in trouble of losing herself that she went back to her touchstone(michael) to help remind herself of what was really important. I know Michael has done that for me so many times.

I will watch it again right now!!

Thank you. I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed that. The vocals are pretty much the same to me.

One thing that I've learned since I joined this forum is not only do fans complain and whine but are the MOST nitpicky ppl I have ever experienced in my life. LOL
Wow- talk about over and beyond to the extreme analyzing of every little, mundane thing in a negative manner. And they are that way on everything that is released- sometimes I think they are worst than the critics. lol I don't understand how they can enjoy anything in life....

I wait for the day that I come to this forum (BTM has come very close to my pleasant surprise) and find threads that are over 80% positive. But that is just a dream of mine, but I'm keeping the faith and still hoping for that wondrous day! he he he :D

Tricia, I appreciate how you always maintain a postive attitude and liking everything about the album. Good for you. That's great.

All fans are here because we love Michael, which we all agree is a positive attribute. However, our love of Michael does not necessarily transfer to loving all projects released by Sony with his name attached.

It has nothing to do with being picky or negative. It's about each individual's preference and opinion. We watched the video. Some love it. Some don't. Nothing wrong with it. What's wrong is that the people who don't like the video are automatically being perceived as negative people who have a hard time in enjoying anything in life.

Different people honor his legacy differently. Some people think continuous new releases help reinforce his legacy. Other people think releases have to be done more selectively and artistically in order to do the name Michael Jackson justice. Who's in the position to say who's right and who's wrong?

Different people hear different things. To you, the difference in the vocal is minimal. To me, the difference in the vocal is quite obvious. I didn't even need to try hard to listen. The vocals used in the video are less processed, sound more raw. The verse starts with "westbound greyhound to tinsel town...." sounds much more natural now, less robotic sounding. I don't think the Billie Jean drum beats are necessary at all. The beatboxing in the beginning of the song is butchered. Still, I prefer this version to the album version.

As for the video, I can care less. It's not a video I will watch repeatedly. Sofia is a great dancer. She makes this video worth watching. All the best to her. But, this video, as what a member from another forum put it, looks like an extended commercial for the Experience. It's a cheery video clip with some great dance moves. To me, the storyline deviates a lot from the concept Michael had.

So, this video does not excite me. Do I think I over-analyzed all little details in negative manner? No, I don't think so. I, and some fans, just expressed our fair opinons on a video we just watched. Why is it okay for us to critique a non-Michael Jackson video, but not a video created by a director trying to intrepret Michae's vision? So, having a less than favorable opinion on another artist is not negative. But, having a less than favorable opinion on this very video is negative?

There is not one day that I stop enjoying the wonderment Michael created. And, I'm sure all members here do enjoy Michael's music in his/her own way. We share a common love of Michael Jackson, we just don't share a common love of a particular project. So, does it really matter that much a majority of people have to share a favorable opinion on this project?

I just have to make a comment and say I'm totally in love with the new remix.
They did everything I could've hoped for.

I liked to say Hollywood Tonight was Billie Jean 2.0 (Not a better song) and I've always thought the song on Michael had a weak bass... as in it needed a better and stronger bassline like Billie Jean had.

Now I do admit the spoken part (which is now a small part with some sounds) could've been better with some more of that awesome funky guitar but I can live with it.
The only thing I'm hoping for now is that they'll edit the ending of the song with some of that whistling and not this random fade out. I've already edited the song myself to add the whistling part but it has Tarryl speaking in it, haha :p

Anyway, thumbs up for another positive comment on the new remix, haha!

How can you not like this video. It's showing you that Michael has inspired people to do this even though they may be getting something out of it. I loved it, it's awesome :)

I like it! I like the new mix too. The Billie Jean style fits well with this song. However, I did like the original beatbox better. The new one still sounds okay though.

MOST nitpicky ppl I have ever experienced
YES! I HAVE to agree 100percent, unfortunately.
When I joined the MJ Fan Community worldwide years ago this was one of my first lessons I had to learn, unfortunately. I was surprised by so much critique at Michael as an artist as well as at his art itself, and over the years this often has hurt me. But when I had the courage to express my feelings everytime I got this reply:
TAKE OFF YOUR ROSA-COLOURED GLASSES!
And this hurts me too. So I had to keep quiet.

Of course VOTED!

And how is this NOTHING to do with him? geez, I am just so tired of this. Your obvious dislike for any Michael's work after his passing is palpable. So why not move on? Do you have to put down ppl that want and are enjoying this experience. If you want to be so angry, miserable and sad for the rest of your life then I guess that is your choice, but do we have to listen to it every time? I hope one day you find some peace and follow Michael's message of joy and happiness. All these songs released or unreleased are Michael's work, and he always wanted for everyone to rejoice and be happy. I know I am in pain, but at least I enjoy all his songs because I follow his message. He wanted us to be happy and enjoy his work.

Because I don't feel him in the video, It's just a video of a random girl who strips in a bar while she gets money for it, drinking alcohol, WTF!?!? and that's NOT Michaels way to create music. And don't tell me I dislike his work maybe we should leave him and his music alone as it used to be, I understand that they do it to continue his legacy, but they are not good to it, only Michael can make it lot better than this video. I don't care if you enjoy this video or not, if you enjoy it, fine with it. We all have our opinions to share, and I am not angry, I'm just dissapointed, because I don't feel any special on this video, this video is nothing special for me, and it just makes me sad that he is not here any longer, so why can't we just leave his music career alone? I don't have problem if they release his unreleased songs, but mess up the song with this video makes me sick.
But I did like the BJ version and the ending where they dancing his dance.
And don't get offend just because we share our opinions, don't except that we always have a positive comments, maybe you should try to look it at our side of the video, it's better to tell my true opinions than telling a fake opinions: "OMG IT'S GREAT I'M CRYING.." Which do you choose? a fake opinions or a true opinions?
Then stop being mad and get offend by that. It's ridicioulus.

All that really matters is whether HT can get the album back into the top 40.

It's been out of the UK's top 75 for a long time now. I'll be very interested to see if this release will effect the albums chart performance.

At first Teddy Riley mix was not good...now it is good. Oh well....
I wish Michael was here to give his magic touch. But he is not. :( :(
The video is OK. It could have been better but...whatever.
I will embrace whatever we can get from Michael...it is important to hear him on the radio, TV and other places.

I can't believe how many on this forum are pleased with this video. It makes me very sad.

Negativity at its best. :mello:

Michael CREATED and ESTATE. WHY?? An ESTATE that Michael Jackson children will inherit when they will be adults.

This Estate still have debts to pay. This Estate needs to SURVIVE all these years, till Mike children will inherit it totally.

So they need to put pout there, material, even if it's raw or remixes etc
I might not like some.... and I feel sad and lost without Mike here, but I am capable to see is outta of my own depression and nobody's fault, only Murray is at fault for this sad situation.....

if the capacity of enjoying Michael material for some fans ended, at least admit it's a personal loss and stop projecting this into this Estate that was created By Michael Jackson himself after all...

Recognize that the personal capacity to enjoy is gone and stop blaming everyone else. It's depression and rage, and those are normal after such loss... Abnormal is to project this and blame everyone.... becoming sad because some other fans might like the song and video.... How twisted is that??

Please STOP with this and analyze yourself, because if not selfishness grows so much....

I think that both versions of the song as it's good and bad points

Album version:
The good - It has a better beatbox
The bad - It has the annoying talking bridge

Video version:
The good - The annoying talking part as been removed
The bad - The beatbox isn't as good

I agree.
I mean it's good for them to make money, but to me the video is just really not Michael Jackson style. All of his videos were epic.
But this one? A girl stripping...really???? I mean come on.....

1- not all mj's videos were "epic"

2- it is in the michael jackson style...there is the mj dance style and a story in this video...exactly like in mj's own videos...

3- about the girl stripping, you should read again the lyrics of the song...

about the girl stripping, we had a prostitute in who is it.

I dont know why people are complaining, you wanted a video that have a story.... well you got it. the spoken bridge actually fits with the video, if you feel the video diverts from the real message.

you have a girl that goes to Hollywood, works as a waitress, goes to auditions, becomes famous, paparazzi following her and she regrets it. she realize it's not as good as she thinks then moves on with her life....... did you expect her to get killed at the end or something?

I agree.

Loka...some of these people are the VERY SAME ONES who trashed You rock my world when it came out. Michael Jackson HIMSELF got criticized by his fans..so don't bother making sense of anything.

Invincible was trashed BY FANS like no other record...and MJ was alive. So the estate executors should do like MJ, grow rhinoceros' skin, and quit listening to fans demanding untouched vocals.

These fans have no music / business experience. Most have never met MJ and doesn't know what he would have liked. They should continue to do the best they possibly can to protect his legacy by involving people he has long professional relationship with (except a few like Quincy Jones and other backstabbers).

Teddy Riley did a fantastic job to polish the demo...Sony/estate should have never listened to these fans and their constant whining and demands.

You can never please everyone, the estate has to understand nothing they do will ever please these fans..Just like MICHAEL JACKSON wasn't able to please all his fans. Accept that they are lost...so what ???

Trying to please all, will continue to result in failures and half-assed jobs, because they are letting a bunch of amateurs influence their decisions.

YES! I HAVE to agree 100percent, unfortunately.

Thank you! 100% agree with you.

As far as I can remember, I have NEVER EVER criticized MJ or his art. Even though I could tell you 3 or 4 videos or songs that I personally don' like. I could never tell an artist how impress him/herself. Art is such a personal things.

Like I stated earlier, don't be despair because of the negativity...I have seen people call MJ lazy because he cancelled two This is it shows..so...it's a pretty recurring theme for MJ fans.

The estate should stop following orders and listening to demands...MJ's fanbase is pretty large.

Please are free to move on and not support the new releases. Losing a couple might be for the best...and might help bring together a more cohesive group.

We all love MJ in our own way...but we don't all have to continue supporting everything with his name on it.

Gosh, what monkeys are running this thing? Seriously, I don't think i've ever seen John Branca and John McClain before. For all I know one of them could be Bubbles.

Don't like the dancer either, seems like she does more Ballet type dancing.

Dirty Diana live TII :cheeky:

New idea, lets have a thread for the people who love it and one for the people who hate it :) and maybe one for people who like the video and hate the audio or vica versa...........maybe one for people who like it but not the strip club part.........or the dance segments, or just the dance segments alone..............Brb just going to start 83 new threads :)
