Dear Members

It has come to my attention that people have been sharing stolen copyrighted material owned by the Sony Music Corp.

Given this we have little choice but to step up our actions should we see any of the like on MJJC,

Therefore:

If any member is caught by ANY means on MJJC sharing stolen copyrighted material you will be instantly banned for life.

Myself and my team must ensure our community is protected and does not fall fit for this kind of behaviour.

We will prevail in our fight stopping this to ensure MJJC is not brought into any situations that could effect our journey in honouring Michael and his legacy.

Today I also call upon any member who knows or has been given any of the stolen material to please contact me via pm.

What do you mean by 'stolen material'? Are you refering to songs? What if I decide to put a MJ pic in my siggy isn't that copywrited too? Will I be banned then as well? Sorry I don't get it
 
I respect this decision. However, could someone link me to the statement about the 2000 watts forum being deleted? I can not find any information at all about what happened.

And when I searched my old posts in that forum section they were all gone! I just want to know what happened and then move on :)

Sony is taking action against those they catch stealing and rightly so. I hope you know
our board is in danger of being taken down if we are allowing it here So yes those who
do leak and download will be banned to insure the protection of MJJC.

I hope you understand now.

So you mean unreleased songs or songs in general right? If so yeah they have every right to go after everyone of them, I've never been active when it came to 2000 Watts (despite having access) or song sharing etc Thx Qbee

What exactly is shared in 2000 watts? Unreleased songs? Or Tokyo 1988 Loun*s stream leak?
 
what baffles me is that I dont understand how people get their hands on things that are owned by Sony....I probably dont understand it because I dont visit 2000 watts forum. Thanks for the updates Gaz.

Music leaking is nothing new. HMH was leaked back in 2008. Love Never Felt So Good was leaked in 2009. Snippets of Another Day, A Place With No Name and Groove of Midnight were leaked in 2009 as well.

Blue Gangsta, DYKWYCA and STTR were leaked in 2010. Stay and All I Need were leaked in 2011. Snippets of Water and Soldier Boy were leaked recently.

Water and Soldier Boy were not obtained legally. Neither does Blue Gangsta nor DYKWYCA.

If such life ban policy has to be carried retrospectively, 99% of this forum members are to be banned too.

Music leakage is not exclusive to Michael Jackson or the Cascio tracks. Many other artists face the same problem. Beyonce's new song was also leaked before it's official released and is shared here in this forum.

I'm not encouraging people to steal music and share music. But, I need to know the banning policy is being carried out in a fair manner.
 
I really need clarification. So, what is it? The Cascio tracks are more special?

Peopel who shared BG and DYKWYCA are okay. But, people who shared Soldier Boy are banned?

Sorry if I sound pushy. One of my closest friends is banned, even IP banned. I'm very frustrated now. Extremly frustrated.

yes I know those things were leaked..I just dont understand HOW people can leak something that doesn't belong to them. Thank you for answering my question....and sorry for your friend...:hug:
 
I wasn't around last night so I missed what happened. What exactly happened? Why does it seem like Sony has a heavy presence here lately (including the ability to get people banned like what happened a few weeks ago)?

If it was indeed Cascio tracks, actions speak volumes.
 
Listen the unimaginable has happened and Sony is coming down on us, and I mean hard. So if anyone has any songs do not post them here, believe me how we don't want this to happen but this is something that must be done/.

So Sony has a strong presence here? Seriously SMDH!, The only reason Gaz is banning those people is because Sony would be shutting down MJJC, the community he worked so hard for, the community many of us donate to, he's not going to take the chance of losing this board just because some folks are into illegal file sharing.

So are you saying you have not heard Blue Gangsta, Slave To The Rhythm, Stay, the 2 Water snippets and the 2 Soldier Boy snippets?
 
Its a shame so many possible good member being IP banned....but I guess there is no way around it!

Seriously, does Sony have paid staff members monitoring this board?

I understand Gaz's actions (and agree for the most part), but it just seems like something's changed lately and it seems to be because of Sony (like what was said earlier about Sony coming down harder on the board now). The fact that Sony had a hand in getting a few users temporarily banned seemed a bit strange.

Sure you can do illegal stuff cuz everybody does it and hope nobody comes down on you for that! But please... then complaining if someone gets you and not your neighbour who's might doing the same... sheeeesh sounds more than f****** s*****, well to me!

It's really as easy as that.
 
With this particular rule breaking, is it always one mistake = permanently IP banned? No warning?
 
It all makes sense to me!

Share something that you shouldn't have... and your gone! That makes sense! I'm guessing that leaked things come from people within Sony at some point right? That it is the employees of Sony that put the stuff out there in the first place?

I have always been of the opinion that I would rather wait for the stuff to be officially released to hear it... sure, I downloaded the "Michael" stuff prior to the release, that was just impatience on my part... but it did ruin the album for me! I miss the days when I didn't have the internet and would wait early doors at the music shop... I will never forget buying the HIStory album and listening to the whole thing on my staircase when I should have been at school lol.

Sony and the MJ estate now own all things Michael released and unreleased... and if ya listen to it without paying for it... that's stealing!!

All ya got to do here, to remain a member... is stick to the rules!!

Does seem suspicious though that Sony have a large part in the running of this site... not that I have noticed this myself though??
 
Sony does not have a large part of running this site. However, people watch what happens at this site. If something is done against the liking of another company, they could have the whole board shut down. It is important to understand this. Because the site is so huge and visible, Sony wants to make sure the material they own is not being distributed here. It is impossible to keep them from looking at what happens here, unless the whole board became private. Even then, it would be impossible because we don't know who people really are. Not trying to sound paranoid, but the only way to stop this kind of thing from happening is to make sure we do not break the law to begin with.
 
Whilst I understand the legal reasons for all of this happening, what I find totally and utterly crap about all of this is the timing. There will never be any 'new' music, the one and only reason this is happening now is greed - plain and simple. Its nothing about protecting Michaels music, its EVERYTHING to do with money and control. Sad.
Why wait until now to get heavy with the members here? As fans of Michael we rarely got new music when he was with us, now that he's gone we are of course going to do what we can to get hold of anything 'new' that we can. Obviously no-one sets out with the goal of 'breaking the law' but using such heavy handed tactics is wrong in my opinion. Sorry.
 
what was being shared exactly? released material or unreleased and leaked material? And was it shared in some threads or in PMs? Sharing links in private messages is not allowed now either?

upd: I checked the 2000 Watts forum and read that this is about the leaked demos.... As usual, I missed everything *sigh* I am not asking for the links. But can someone at least tell me the names of the songs? Please :)

No I haven't heard, Two, Water 2 Stay, or Soldier Boy, I'm aware of Gansta which's been online on youtube for at least 4 years if not longer, I know the fan created version of Slave To The Rythym only, and that's about it with my knowledge. The owner and mods of this site know that I'm rarely in the 2000 Watts forum if at all.
 
Why should we have Michaels work for free?
He isn´t here anymore and can´t do new music.
I think it will be released in the future and for his legacy it´s good to have unheard music to be realeased for years to com

This thread should be linked to from the main banner, its that important everyone knows the new harder rules so they do not get IP banned.
