Bobby Brown claims he once dated Janet

Thank you. That is what I am saying too. I also said that I will keep an open mind on this and hope that Janet will deny this. The reason why I have picked up on this is because I know that there are sections of the black community who have this feeling about the Jacksons anyway. They won't need much persuading to believe what Bobby says. Much of the hostility towards MJ and the Jackson family is tied up in their misguided belief that they no longer identify with the black community. This is why I am saying that Janet may need to do a pr thing and deny this, esp if this is what MTV is using to push his book.
I don't believe that Bobby hate the Jacksons. I don't think he wrote it to damage them, but if he is writing his autobio and he is telling his story and that is a part of it as he recalls it, then I can't blame him for writing it. I would blame MTV for using it as the focus of the book, obviously intending to shock and reinforce the negative.
This is why I feel that Janet may have some explaining to do if this gets any bigger.:)

and it's beyond patheic. . sorry that Janet doesn't hate or disprects her family as much as you make it out to be with your so called 'oppions' . and if you are that clueless about Janet than don't posts, cause it's ignorgant

this discussion is based off of what Bobby Brown, is reported, to have written in his book. That is the basis of the discussion. If there is to be an issue with anyone, it should be Bobby Brown's issue. Not a fellow Member of this community.

Alright, let me clear up some things -

1. I grew up in a time when Bobby Brown was big. I liked his songs back in the day and I think he is a talented performer/entertainer.

2. The reason why I think that he having an affair with Madonna was funny was because, I personally could not see Madonna and Bobby going together. That does not mean that I do not believe it. If I did not believe it, I would have easily said so. And I still think it is funny.

3. I do not believe that he is making up these stories either. I think he was telling the truth. He also said that he did indeed hit my girl, Whitney. And their were rumors that he did in fact hit Whitney. So, he basically confirmed it. I am not against him doing this book. I am against the way he is promoting this book. I just hope he respects the mother of his child and that he admits that he was at one point a dead beat father. Heck, I am planning on getting his book. I do not think Janet should deny anything. If the family did say that, then they said that. Janet has went out with black men before Bobby - James DeBarge and now with Jermaine Dupri. I think that the family did not LIKE HIM, and it had nothing to do with his race.
 
Datsmay - at this point almost nothing Bobby Brown says will make 'waves'..

Honestly, yes he was a great entertainer, was big at one point.. But nobody is really going to care about this clame..

AT MOST, it will get a 6 second on an E! gossip show. lol!

this is not a big deal at all..

The biggest story from Bobby Brown was on Whitney and his reality show when it showed drugs in the bathroom.. He got a little mentioning..

now with the show 'rock the cradle' his son is on that show, and he's been getting some press.. (very little)


a little quote from a book is not going to make waves, ripples, or even a gust of wind.. maybe a dripplet from the sink.. that's about it..

1) he's old news
2) He has been largely over shadowed by whitney houston
3) he's over shadowed himself with getting into trouble

a little quote will not be a shocker at all..

Oh yeah, because the only way a book can be revealing is if it talks smack about other people. Michael's book didn't trash talk anybody or dish on anybody, but it offered insight in to who Michael was and is and gave us an interesting glimps in to his personality. The very fact he didn't speak ill of anyone else gave us a look at who he is.

And you aren't willing to take on that maybe, if Bobby is telling the truth, that Janet was telling the truth about her family, are you? Just that Janet is a liar. You obviously dislike her. And who cares what the black community thinks. They don't own Janet or anybody else. And wasn't it you who excused Joeseph for cheating on Katherine and told Janet that she shouldn't have been upset about that. Yet now you bring it up as a negative against Janet. "She was probably cheating on someone else". Double standard maybe? If Bobby still had a career instead of appearing on reality shows about becoming a cowboy, then I doubt he would even be writitng this crap. It's an indirect attack on the Jackson family, if you didn't notice. It doesn't really say anything bad about Janet, just that Janet said she couldn't date Bobby because her family didn't want her dating black men. Thrid hand info. if ever I saw it. He said that she said that they said. But it still hurts the image of the Jackson family.

I agree with you Bee, although I don't think the jackson family would say such a thing, but I think they may not have liked bobby for janet for the same reason that I did not like him for Whitney, Bobby was never taken seriously for anybody's husband. I suspect that Janet might have said what she said as her only way of letting him down gently. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be a nice thing to say and it makes the jacksons look bad..

Datsy with all due respect, don't expect an obligation from fans to "leave you alone" on this issue when your admitted bias against Janet is constantly dug up from your end to cause the bickering in the first place (and in numerous,varied and at times inappropriate threads). this isn't personal - it's your public posts that people respond to. when your integrity is attacked here, it's based on your public posting history. you attack, people defend and vice versa. when one attacks constantly, expect heavier defense.

and by the way, finishing off digs with this smilie "^_^" doesn't ever dilute the venom from the insinuations!

KOPV,This thing could blow up if the media picks it up. The jacksons have always been a target of the media. MTV is using this quote to hype this book. The book will sell because Whitney is still very famous and people are interested in her life with Bobby. The remarks have racist overtones which is always a sticky subject. The Jacksons have been accused in the past for not wanting to identify with their racial group. What is said does have the potential to be explosive and I don't think that people should underestimate the signicance of this.

A story like this if it were to get big, would not NEED to 'get steam'.. It would just blow up and be on the tabloides the next morning..

I really think without saying it Bobby was implying not that the Jacksons didn't like black men but that they have a shade complex, certaintly James Debarge although mixed is black and maybe at that time cause after that Janet was with Rene E for a long time a very light Latino that she wasn't brave enough to date or marry a darker shade dude, mabye she finally said at a point in her life enough im going to be with who i want to be with and that's why she is with JD even though people slam his looks, i am nearly the same age as Bobby and i do remember when he and Janet dated and i wouldn't doubt due to the high profile situaton that maybe at their ages then there was some level of not being sure about things. I just hate that he needs money so bad to write a tell all period!

OK thanks. I put one person on ignore so far, but I keep on peeping to see what she is writng, so its a waste of time anyway. I do not dislike Janet. I am just not a fan of her music and I say it as I see it. I am entitled to an opinion. I was right about her fanbase in Britain. I still have yet to hear her sing properly. That is my opnion of her. I also have problems with her personality. I think it is rather bland. My opinion. Apart from that, I think she is beautiful and she reminds me of Liz Taylor who I think is rather beautiful as well. For those people who think I hate Janet, I bought the wrtetched Eddie Murphy video,Nutty Professor 2, just because Janet was in it, I also bought Fame to see Janet in it. See, people judge others without knowing them. Stop judging.

Jay Leno just did a joke about this book and mentioned Whitney & Janet, so if he said something about it, then it's mainstream.
 
But he didn't say anything about the family's comment, just that Bobby "scored" with Janet.

It may not be classy or palatable for us as fans of the Jacksons, but if Bobby is writing his book and he wants to write it in there, it is his truth and he has as much right to write it in his book as Quincy or Liz or anyone else has as much right to put their ish in there book. What is the point of him writing his autobio if he should leave important bits of his life out of it. The best we can do is not read it.
They say things that happen in the dark will allways come to light. If Janet had an affair with Bobby, I bet she is wishing he didn't write his book until she was too old to care, but that is life. For those people who think they couldn't care less, well, Race is still a sensitive issue for the black community, so yes, Black people still care, and if MTV uses Janet as a selling point, we could well hear commentaries about this on tv.:)
