September 9 News and Mentionings - Steven Ivory backstage with James Brown and MJ / Not dating Pam

Re: September 9 News and Mentionings - Steven Ivory backstage with James Brown and Michael Jackson

Whether Barack Obama will be able to be anywhere close to Jackson in terms of influence -- if he will become the next president -- will depend on which international policy he will pursue. As of now, watching whom he chose as his international affairs/military advisers, the possible change is not seen yet. Even if those are not Hawk-type from Mr.Bush's team (of course), they still come from Hawk-type wing of Democratic party, which started few illegal wars in 1990s on its own. Lets hope for the better, though; there is still chance for Obama to surpass everyone -- he can start changing the world in a big way. That is not overestimation, considering all aspects.

thank you for the news

No politician is going to heal America. Not Obama not any one. The people of America must rise up and do the job themselves. politicians are servants of the ruling classes, and unless the ruling calsses want change, Obama may win the election but all you will have is more of the same. Not even Nelson Mandela changed anything. he wasn't in charge. He was just a cover. Party politics is the biggest FRAUD of the age. It is the opium of the people. The people who fight for real changed are either opposed or murdered. Think of some names. They are not politicians.
Yes, I agree that Obama is Biracial and needs to be accepted as such.

Versailles goes kitsch as Jeff Koons' giant Lobster moves into the palace

The palace of Versailles will undergo a kitsch revolution with the opening of a controversial exhibition by pop artist Jeff Koons, amid cries from traditionalists that it is sacrilegious to bring works like his inflatable lobster into the palace of the Sun King.

Some 17 oeuvres have been hand-picked by the 53-year old "king of kitsch" to hang in the 17th century chateau and home to the French monarchy until the Revolution. Among those on display in the Grand Apartment, the Hall of Mirrors and other historic rooms is the nine-foot stainless steel red Hanging Heart, which fetched $23.6 million (£12 million) last year, making Mr Koons the most expensive living artist. French observers have pointed out that not even Marie Antoinette, the chateau's former resident, could have afforded such a piece.

The exhibition will go ahead despite a right-wing traditionalist campaign to stop placing inflatable monuments like his Balloon Dog and Lobster among the marble pilasters, crystal chandeliers and Roman busts of the hallowed venue. "Organising such an exhibition in the chateau is an outrage to the work of Louis XIV," said Arnaud-Aaron Upinsky, chairman of the right-wing National Writers' Union, which has spearheaded the campaign to oust Mr Koons.
"This project is felt by many French people to be a veritable sullying of the most sacred aspects of our heritage and identity." Edouard de Royère, chairman of the Heritage Foundation, said: "I am not against contemporary art but I am shocked by its intrusion into a magic place such as Versailles." They oppose giving carte blanche to a man who depicted his love-making sessions with his ex-wife Ilona Staller, the former Italian porn star known as La Cicciolina.
But Jean-Jacques Aillagon, chairman of the body that runs Versailles, said the artist's eccentric grandeur fitted perfectly into its royal surroundings. "Versailles must remain a living cultural location," he said. Mr Koons was clearly delighted with his first show in a French museum.

"Contemporary Art is so imprisoned in the present that juxtaposing new works with old ones allows you to rediscover a connection between history and the history of art," he said. "The baroque is the ideal context for me to highlight the philosophical nature of my work." Works also include a porcelain representation of Michael Jackson and his chimp Bubbles, as well as Split-Rocker, an 11-tonne stainless steel dinosaur-rocking horse sculpture made from 90,000 live flowers, which will be placed in the Orangerie garden. Questions have also been raised by the French media over whether the exhibition will unfairly benefit a billionaire French collector. Luxury goods tycoon François Pinault, one of the world's most influential private collectors of modern art, is footing three quarters of the 2 million euro bill to mount the exhibition. Six of the works on display belong to him. Le Monde newspaper warned of a "possible conflict of interest", saying the landmark exhibition could further increase the value of the works.

Have you seen this thing? It's HUUUUGE!! And it's worth A LOT of money. This one in particular is owned by a Norwegian millionaire who is now letting France borrowing it for this exhibition. Here, Jeff Koons is posing together with Michael Jackson and Bubbles

Sorry if this has been posted allready. A little late "happy birthday commentary"

Jackson should be recognized for revolutionizing pop music

Katherine Heriges - Art and Entertainment Editor
Monday, September 08, 2008 issue

He’s much maligned. He gets no respect. He is admittedly a little crazy. And this past week, he turned 50. Michael Jackson deserves far more respect than people give him.

When I mention interest in (well, borderline obsession with) the Jackson family in conversation, college students usually respond the only way they know how — with a Michael joke. For those born in the late ’80s and early ’90s, Michael’s popularity was dying off as they were children and leading into years dominated by controversy and problems. His relevance is questioned by many who look back on his pop career and wonder why he never demonstrated the prowess with instruments that his contemporary, Prince, did, or why he made his odd habits publicly known (befriending rats, etc.).

Perhaps there are points to be made there. However, his title as the King of Pop should never be disputed, nor should his place in music history. Michael Jackson is not just a personality or a celebrity; he produced some of the most lasting music in pop history and should be remembered as such. No one has had a life like his, from childhood traumas to global success to shameful criminal investigations.

Michael’s first gig was in his family group, the Jackson 5, with brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Tito and Marlon. Family groups were really en vogue in the early 70s, with groups like the Osmonds and the Partridge Family playing very well to teens on television. The Jackson 5 were among these groups. However, Jackson songs like “ABC” and “I’ll Be There” are still played on iPods all over America, while “Yo-Yo” is forgotten to all who didn’t live to throw their underwear at Donny Osmond. The thing that set the Jacksons apart from the rest was that they had Michael. He was incredibly talented and could even outsing Motown superstar, Diana Ross.

When he set out on his solo career, he adapted to the times. “Off the Wall,” his first solo record with Epic, had a disco feel that was appropriate for the time, but set a musical precedent that he would follow for the rest of the ’80s. He released the best-selling album of all time, “Thriller,” in 1982, which performed so well because of the incredible string of successful singles on the record and because of his now-legendary performance on the Motown 25 television special where he premiered the moonwalk dance. During his Epic years, he worked with Quincy Jones, a producer even Pharrell Williams is jealous of. He’s had thirteen number one singles and has been inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice.

So why is he so hated now? The controversy is understandable. However, those who hate him because of the bandwagon opinion are not thinking clearly. He changed pop music. No pop artist will ever have a life-spanning career that is so varied and fascinating. As his career progressed, he successfully changed with the times to fit the music at the time and his own personal style. No one can say his odd physical transformation changed his musical ability — the “Bad” and “Dangerous” records were both tremendously popular and pleasing to the ears, despite the fact that they featured strikingly pale images of the singer on their covers.

Today, he should be able to be celebrated and let his career rest in peace, but instead his numerous detractors do not allow him to live the quiet life. He’s followed by litigation and bad press. He’s made fun of regularly, though thousands of those who make jokes about him own “Thriller” or at least have “Billie Jean” on their iPods. He’s an oddball, for sure, but he’s a living music legend and should be respected as such.

Happy 50th, Michael. Stay strong.

I do not agree on everything, but this has some killer comments.

Pamela Anderson Blasts Michael Jackson Dating Rumors

By Adam Nutburn, September 9 2008
pamelaellen.jpg

Pamela Anderson has blasted reports she's dating Michael Jackson - insisting the music legend just wants her to appear in a video.
"He just wants me to be in a video," she said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Tuesday when asked about her recent meeting with the Thriller hitmaker. "My life is so interesting. My life is a blur."
"So seriously, have you been hanging out with him?" DeGeneres asked.
"It happens ... skin cancer and Vicodin," she replied cryptically. "I don't know ... I have a lot of interesting friends."
The former Baywatch babe added that she is living with ex Tommy Lee again, but when DeGeneres asked if she was "getting any," she sighed, "no."

i have a feeling they left out a lot in those quotes, but anyways i know this is very tabloid-ey but i went to the ellen degeneres website and i guess the show is tomorrow

Pamela Anderson - Wednesday, September 10

On Wednesday, my quest for guests who have won the gold continues with Olympic gold medal-winning volleyball pair, KERRI WALSH and MISTY MAY-TREANOR! Kerri & Misty have been called “the greatest beach volleyball team of all time” -- and not just by their mothers! They are gold medalists in beach volleyball for the second Olympics in a row, and that’s just, well, a little greedy actually, but also quite amazing! Plus -- actress, model and now reality TV star PAMELA ANDERSON will be here to discuss her new series, “Pam: Girl on the Loose.” Like me, Pam is an animal rights advocate and I’m going to beg her to convince PETA to let me pose naked on one of their billboards. I’m keeping the dream alive! Then, appearing on the show for the first time, country duo SUGARLAND will be here to sing their smash hit “All I Want to Do” from their #1 album, “Love on the Inside.”

lol at ellen
but anyways, i just want to hear the rest of that quote

Re: September 9 News and Mentionings - Steven Ivory backstage with James Brown and Michael Jackson

He wants her to appear in a video? Interesting....

Re: September 9 News and Mentionings - Steven Ivory backstage with James Brown and Michael Jackson

I disagree with you, and won't budge on my view. And what I said isn't idealistic it's a reality that monoracial people don't want to hear. Who said skin colour in the 21st century wasn't importnat, not me ! ............. I said the public and media are in denial, so how can that be idealist. I said Obama is the representation of both black and white people, that's genetic a fact not idealistic.

It is not for black and white people to dictate how mixed race people should view themselves, which is why I don't see reall progress in the public and media portraying Barak Obama is just a black person. It saddens me that in 2008 ignornace towards mixed race people from both black as well as white people still exists. On the mixed race identity issue, Obama is a weak man. Barak Obama is from a white family, yet his grandparent and mother will be written out of history like they are only a small part of his life. Barak Obama is an inspiration to all people, and I will say mainly people of colour. But there are a lot of raising politians and sports people like Lewis Hamiltion and Tiger Woods who are portrayed as black but are infact mixed race. Saying they are just Black, denies there actually racial identity and heritage, it's wrong and disrespectful and not for black and white people to dictat.

He may have a predominantly black appearence, but he is mixed race. Nothing will change my view on that, and I couldn't give a flying F**K how a racist salve owner would view Barak Obama salve owners are dirt to me. On the subject of being mixed race, Barak Obama's story is a racial stereotype of the mixed race person, and on that subject he doesn't represent change.

Martin Luther King said he looks forward to the black and white children can walk together hand in hand. Well that day could be comining, and Barak Obama is the psychial embodiment of that as he is the offspring of a black man and a white women. And the mixed race man who can heal America.

You've made some good points. If only some white Americans knew how much African ancestry they might have, as that shows how pathetic the One Drop Rule is. For a person who's not an American, it doesn't look like a land of the free and free speach. Because it's a country where people are in denial of others and their own heritage.

Anyway, I'll stop my views on Obama being portayed as Black when he's actually mixed race. I just wanted to put my view across false peace of History may be written. If someone like Will Smith (who has said he might like to) ever becomes President of America and is a desendant of black slaves (unlike Obama), then America will really have turned a corner and HISTORY will have been made with the first black USA President.

Michael strikes me a apolitical. He's been very friendly with Ronald Reagan, George Bush Snr, and Bill Clinton. If Michael is political, I think he switches sides and goes with who he feels has the best polices at the time.

Your American election system is such a long process. Having the public vote for a Democrat and Repbulican nominnee. In the UK the voting system is shorter and less complicated. I think all these Obama and McCain speaches in statdiums are too over the top, and a waste of money. And that Palin women seems mad, I don't like her at all and the fact she shoots animals makes me dislike her even more.
I agree but like it or not, Obama is going to be consided "black" at the end of the day. that is just the way it goes. Some blacks do not think he is "black enough' if race is going to be his talked about. I know someone who does not like Obama for President and she does not think he is black but he is biracial like you said. To me, this is a deep issue and it will not be solved over night if ever. In the black community, blacks are still dealing with light skin v/s dark skin issues because some light skinned people think they are "better" and some dark skinned people think they do not "good enough". And now in some black talks, some blacks are happy for Obama but they do not see him as change on race issue. For some blacks, even if a Obama becomes president, the question is asked, " was Obama liked more because he is light verse if he was darked skinned. Like I said, this is a deep issue just in the black community alone.

>> He will never be accepted as such in the eyes of most people. Yes, they will say "he is biracial" but they will treat him as BLACK ONLY.

Re: September 9 News and Mentionings - Steven Ivory backstage with James Brown and Michael Jackson

What I kind of suspected has turned out to be true. Video. I knew he had been a busy boy. Fans need to STFU now about Michael not doing anything and retirement crap. There are constant little bits of news coming from people, even though he is trying his best to keep it hushed up. I wonder will he kill Pammy for letting that out of the bag. Or maybe she asked him first.

Bee on your post about the underwear and letter. Yeah, I don't remember any letter regarding LMP. Bit fishy to me. And you would wonder how if this is evidence how it is being auctioned? Is that not against the law? Is that not some violation?

I agree totally with this. Obama isn't going to make any sort of radical changes in the world. People's perceptions have to change in order for that to happen and that never occures through law changes or policy changes but through example and enlightenment of what is right and wrong. People have to come to those realizations, and politics never got that job done. Obama is alright, but he's a politician, remember, and he's saying what he thinks will get him elected.

As for the Pamela Anderson story, I think she'll just say "oh he's just a friend" and all that stuff. I believe her though.

lol when i saw it i was totally wondering too if pammy would be getting a call from a certain someone regarding keeping things on the DL

and the whole auctioning thing does seem very fishy to me also, maybe after a certain period of time things used as evidence are released? i don't know i'm not a lawyer. and the whole LMP thing, please correct me if i'm wrong but what i saw was that it's a letter from michael saying why he wanted an annulment, but wasn't LMP the one who filed for a divorce?
