this is a good post, in that it should be a lesson for us all on how to possibly figure out what's really going on with MJ...it depends on how you wish to see the glass...half empty or half full. it's possible the pictures were doctored from many diff photos of him..it could be the real thing.
you could decide that MJ is in trouble because most of the articles are negative, and they show documents...or you can realize that people who shell out documents aren't necessarily on the up and up...aka ENRON..
you can decide that the tipping factor is that MJ is still active and not on the streets, and owns Neverland...and that seventy five percent of the commercials you hear on tv or songs you hear on the radio belong to MJ(the only time you can be sure MJ isn't getting paid is if the song is a motown song..and even then, you can't be sure..)
i just heard a song that i despise...only recently did i find out it's in the atv catalogue..and now..when i hear it, i turn off the radio, but i cheer. the song is heard every hour on the hour, sometimes twice an hour...so..if u wanna forget stuff like that..then i guess you will see the glass the way you wish to see it...half empty..but if you wanna see it as it is..half full or more...you can remember that stuff..the sneaky stuff...the stuff that lends to why people underestimate him.
you can consider the old adage...that if you're always flattered, you'll believe the hype. and you'll fall..
and the one who's always getting castigated, is most likely the one to succeed. a lot of times..the one voted most likely to succeed won't. and the one who is voted least likely to succeed, does.
perhaps the most telling thing of MJ's success, is that the current MJ would be voted least likely to succeed in the eyes of people who wish to stereotype. so...i guess, to conclude....you will always see mixed articles...and that's because MJ is at the top of his game. i believe that the day that you see nothing but totally flattering articles, is the day that you should worry.
the most glaring example is, right now, the most searched and complimented figure in american culture, today, is the prostitute who slept with the governor of new york. the articles can't get enough of her...she only got a couple hundred thousand downloads, for her song, and a couple of offers to pose nude for some real sleazy magazines, which HAVEN'T even been finalized yet, and the compliments are just flying in her favor.
so....one has to remember, i think, that all articles are written by people who have an emotional interest invested in...or..against, the subject of their article.
now...i don't care what reactions this post will get, or even if anyone thinks i'm off topic. i feel it has been worth it for me to get this off my chest.
the bottom line is, MJ is like a retail business. i don't see why we can't see it the same way in masse. if you hear a commercial about a business that's been around for 40 years, you'll have confidence in that business. so...why are there any people who don't have the same confidence in Retail Michael. (that's my new nickname for him) after all...he's been in the business for 40 years...and still going.
it's the best we can go by, cus, most of the articles and all the info, combined, dissemenated about MJ makes for what can be best described as...surreal.
