Thriller 25 proving that MJ still has very good Sales Potential

This is amazing really.

To think after everything he's been through, not even 3 years later we are actually staring down the barrel at a potential #1 Album in the USA, that is a reissue, is staggering actually.

Makes me wonder if MJ knows how close he is to it being number one? I've heard sales are predicted at 120k and Jack Johnson is predicted at 135k, Winehouse 110k.

So 1 2 and 3 are up for grabs here. If MJ made an appearance between now and the cut off day for sales we would def see a number one. Now, who wants to email Ray ray and tell her to fix her weave and tell that skinny ass genius to walk out the d00r and start promoting.

 well the cut off date is Sunday, so he has Thurs-Sun to do some side promo :)

I think if he'd make a clip to WBSS with Akon the albums gonna reserve a place uptop in the charts.

Mike is suprising me.. It's selling better than I even thought.. It's like a dream

Have you guys noticed that we haven't heard anything from Raymone in weeks... Like when Mike is spotted now its always without her, just that Lopez music attourney. I seriously haven't seen Mike with Raymone in any pics or heard anything from her in a while. Do you think maybe she isn't working for Michael anymore?

the stats are like...staggering.... i mean this is what we thought the new album might do..not the....25 year old, aka 7 years older than me, album!!!!

amazing..amazing...(and btw, i think T25 has brought out a lot of the MJ fans in people, i mean i scroll down my messenger list, and many people i never knew liked michael were listening to T25. GREAT NEWS!!

no surprise for me at all.... people (the musical/visual scene needs him badly)... need him....
and he is the one who breaks any barrier so.....

it's just the beginning
and I'm so happy for him!:D

bottom linee....

PEOPLE STOP WHINING and TRUST THE MAN with his OWN CAREER. Ya dig?

btw, i know this not really the place to ask this question, but anyone think that the non-mj fans who are buying the albumns, do you think they are buying for MJ, for the quality of the songs, or for the guest artists(kanye, akon, fergie, will.i.am)??

probably both, firstly they want to check "the best selling album of all time" and secondly because "Akon .... is on it"..... but does it matter?
The most important is that they are introduced to the Michael's album and to his music.... once you fall in love in it - you're 'taken' .... then you want to buy all his albums and you're waitng impatiently for the new one!
And that's the point!;)

I think if they quickly release Girl is Mine to USA radio the sales would be even higher. I think that track is better suited for r&b radio then WBSS.

THANK YOU, BABY!!

These stats are PROOF that this man will ALWAYS be hot in the USA. I will never forget the stupid, ignorant and nasty comments during the trial when clowns were trying to write him off. Well what is happening here? Exactly, Mike is making it RAIN, BABY!! Make it rain, Mike! :D

YEAH!!!! We looooove mj here!!! I hate ignorant people who try to put him down, and I LOVE how he SHUTS THEM DOWN!!!!!! they gotta feel stupid!!!!!

I'm soooo excited that the album is doing so well!!! YAY YAY YAY

I LOVE YOU MJ *sobbing uncontrollably* !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(i'm a freaking michael jackson crack head!----what would u call that? a "jackson head" lol, i gotta go to sleep, i'm too tired!!)

yeah i'm so happy for him too. good times at last
here in New Zealand i just keep hearing the ads on the radio about "Thriller anniversary album of the king of pop Michael Jackson" and these ads are pretty long playing Billie Jean, Beat it and Thriller . i am like "wwooooooow"

i expect the album to be #1 this week on Australian charts. It has one version at #5 and another at #12 on Aussie itunes. Plus physical sales which are going to be big. Combine the TWO itunes charts with all the pre-orders, combined with people who bought the physical album (some of whom bought more than one copy.. no one buys TWO JT albums haha) you have urself a heck of alot of copies sold. So far Australia has the BEST sales reaction ive seen. WBSS peaked at #3 on itunes and #8 on official singles charts, plus T25 being at #5 and #12 on itunes. No other countries have had such strong results. WBSS aint even in USA top itunes 100, but remains at #8 on aussie itunes;)

P.S. i thought in USA that you have to sell like 500,000 copies to be the #1 album of the week... not 135,000?

Just to clarify, TSCM's article said that T25 is scheduled to be the #1 newly released album of the week, not that it would be the #1 album in the country. It appears that it will be in the top 5, but #1 is very unlikely. Honestly, I have no idea what's #1 right now and I'm not motivated to look it up because I'll probably have to lock myself in a closet and cry when I see who it is.

BTW, you don't need 500K anymore to be #1 in the US. 250-300K can do that for you at this point because sales are down so low.

I said it before in the other thread and I'll say it again here. With promotion from both a major label and Mike himself, he'll easily be able to create another #1 CD. Look at the sales now based on internet promotion and one TV commercial and imagine what they would be if there was some sort of performance at the Grammy's. I honestly believe he'd be competing for the #1 album right now and that he'd probably win.

If the rumors of this TV special for both T25 and a new album are true then watch out...

I went to Barnes and Noble today, and asked for the album...and low and behold, it was sold out! And I live in the US, too! :D Go Michael!

Woo hoo!! :punk: That's what I like to hear!! I'd like it to be sold out everywhere!

I,m so happy for Michael not that anything surprises me about the king of pop. maybe now people will remember the greatness of this legend and master of music. Just think what he will do next.

It's only a matter of time untill people start wearing Thriller and Beat It jackets again

Yay!!! I am getting my old Beat It and Thriller jackets out the box in the top of my closet.

Oh wait... they probably won't fit me anymore considering I was 12 then and am nearly going to be 36 years old soon LMAO.

The Meijers here in Indiana was sold out tonight. Even though I already have my copies from another stre.. I just wanted to check while I was there. That was music to my ears. I have been blasting the Thriller disc on my car stereo and watching reactions. Nothing negative and actually a couple moonwalkers here and there. It's been fun!

Great!!!

That must have been cool to see!!!

didnt britney sell 400k in week one and still not get #1 album?

9 out of 10 times she would've gotten #1 with those numbers. It all depends on which week your album is released. That week with Britney, she came out the same week as The Eagles and they ended up selling I think over 800,000. Recently, since the releases have been weak, all you needed was 64,000 to be #1.

Yes it's time to show off your Thriller and Beat It jackets!! I haven't been through the Thriller era, so I really hope 25 years later some shops will sell those gorgeous red jackets again!

I bought my new copy today on my lunch hour and the cashier said: "Man, I've sold so many of these today!" That was pretty cool since it was only 11:15 a.m. and the store opened at 10:00!

Ticie,
The JACKSONOLOGIST

an all time CLASSIC always gets appreciated by the public ! Keep buying !:punk:

It's dependent on the sales of other albums during the same week. No certain amount of records sold guarantees a certain position on the chart.
