Michael Jackson: PYT (Property You Took) Neverland

Posted Mar 18th 2008 12:00PM by Madison J. Gray
Filed under: BlackSpin
Whooo! Hee Hee Hee!!!

You doin' wrong!! You doin' wrong!!! 'Gon lock you up...before too long!!!!

WHO'S BAD????!!!!!

Michael, that's who. You think he's going to let anyone kick him out of Neverland?? Please! This is Michael Jackson and he'll bust your ass!!!!

A few months ago, the Gloved One was in danger of losing his fabled home where he made so many sleepover children happy with his concoction of 'Jesus Juice.' For a second, it seemed that even Mr. Thriller was susceptible to the housing crisis going on all over the country. TMZ.com reported that Michael was behind more than $23 million on his mortgage. It seemed that the magic was over, and Michael blamed it on the boogie.

But the Get-Down Gods remembered this is Michael Jackson!

So now, through the magic of refinancing, Mike gets to keep his property and show more deserving youth his unreal acres of the childhood he has always complained about not having.

Michael Jackson Loses “Pets” To Animal Sanctuary

michael.jpg
Michael Jackson’s
been going THROUGH it lately. Ecorazzi reported last week that the fallen King Of Pop will probably lose his ranch and now it looks like he can wave goodbye to the ***** Jungle too.

Page Six is reporting that Voices of the Wild Foundation, a non-profit animal sanctuary in Page, Ariz., has adopted the bulk of *****’s zoo — including four giraffes, nine parrots and three giant pythons. Jackson’s two caymans and two anacondas will join the crew in a few months.

Currently the animals are living in a temporary set up (New Yorkers-think of it like subletting in Far Rockaway) but VWG recently announced plans to build a multimillion-dollar, 186-acre wildlife preserve that will house Michael’s critters, as well as a slew of other needy creatures.

It was reported that the animals arrived “in good condition, with no signs of mistreatment” and the foundation is even letting Jackson visit his ex-pets whenever he’d like. Preserve manager Marc Chandler said: “It’s not that he gave them up because he didn’t want animals anymore. It was a financial situation and they were caught in the middle of it. Michael is welcome to be a part of their lives.”

While I’m happy the animals went to a sanctuary and not Paris Hilton’s mini animal mansion, I feel bad for the guy. Losing a pet’s a big deal, and I can’t imagine how hard it must be saying goodbye to like a billion of them. So feel better Michael, and here’s to better times!

Day 112 What the media don't show about Michael Jackson the business man –
Guitar Hero: The Beatles (I want you so bad)
Chad Sapieha, March 18, 2008 at 11:02 AM EDT

According to an online report from the Los Angeles Times, Sony/ATV Music Publishing would consider bringing The Beatles’ music to Activision’s popular Guitar Hero games.

"It's something we have talked about and something I'd like to pursue," the article quoted CEO Martin N. Bandier as saying.

The comment may seem surprising, given Sony/ATV’s history of closely guarding digital distribution of The Beatles’ catalogue. However, the recordings that appear in Guitar Hero games are not simple MP3 files. That means they cannot be easily accessed outside the game, which goes long way toward alleviating the music industry’s fears of piracy.

The article does not provide Activision’s reaction to Bandier’s comment. However, with last month's announcement that the next game in the franchise will focus on the music of a single band.
It seems plausible that the game publisher might at least consider paying the same respect to one of the most popular groups of all time.

Something For The Weekend?

LEIBER & STOLLER

Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller formed one of the most successful and influential writing teams of the 1950s and 1960s. Their compositions told stories, their melodies were illustrious and their lyrics were at once witty and playful. Leiber and Stollers' ability to meld unconventional uses of strings, Latin rhythms, and saxophone riffs with catchy top lines allowed them introduce new Soul and R&B concepts to the pop music of that era.

Sony/ATV are proud to have acquired the rights to license tracks from Leiber and Stoller's remarkable catalogue.

Ben E. King - "Stand By Me"

Few tracks can claim to have the classic iconic status of “Stand By Me”. Based on a 1955 Gospel song by the Staples Singer, this version was first released in 1960 and went straight to #4 in the US charts and to #27 in the UK charts. 26 years later it had a revival when used as the theme to the film of the same named starring River Phoenix and charted once again in the US at #9 and in the UK at #1. Noteworthy covers of this track include a version recorded by Muhammed Ali in 1964 when he as the heavyweight boxing champ and a version recorded by John Lennon in 1975

The Clovers - "Love Potion No. 9"

While The Searchers 1965 version of “Love Potion No. 9” may be the most renown, having entered the US Billboard charts at #3; we’ve decided to showcase the original version by The Clovers. The comical narration tells the tale of a man who accepts a love potion from a gypsy woman and starts kissing everyone in sight, including a cop who then breaks his potion.

The Coasters - "Poison Ivy"

"Poison Ivy" was first recorded by The Coasters in 1959 and stayed at #1 for a month on the R&B chart. This droll track tells the story of a girl named Ivy who because of her reputation as a player is called Poison. There are a number of existing interpretations of this track, including a weird and wonderful version by Manfred Man, a ska version by The Lambrettas and a hip hop version by The Young & Restless. The Rolling Stones had a go at it in 63’ and Linda McCartney recorded a version in 87’. The song was also a massive hit for Australian Group Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs in 1964; so much so that it was able to knock The Beatles off the #1 spot.

Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazelwood - "Jackson"

"Jackson" is about an unhappy couple who plan to move to Jackson, Tennessee in order to reignite the sparks in the relationship. Johnny Cash and June Carter won a Grammy Award in 1968 for their recording of the song. Johnny Cash also sang it with Miss Peggy on The Muppet Show. More recently you may have seen this track performed by Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon in the 2005 film 'Walk The Line'. The recording we've featured is Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood's 1967 version.

Peggy Lee - "I'm A Woman" & "Tango"

Peggy Lee and Leiber & Stoller had a number of ingenious collaborations. The sassy "I'm A Woman" was a Grammy nominated single in 1962 and upon hearing Peggy’s powerful and sumptuous delivery it’s not hard to see why. The sultry "Tango" is broken into several parts; beginning with a straightforward tango, it then features spoken words and lastly the listener is met with a slow and spooky piano topped by Miss Lee’s floating vocals. The sound is Tarantino-esque and its haunting quality will remind you of Nancy Sinatra's "Bang Bang".

Smokey Joe's Cafe Cast - "Keep On Rollin'" & "Teach Me How To Shimmy"

Smokey Joe's Cafe is a 1990's musical theatrical revue showcasing 39 pop standards all written by Leiber & Stoller. The musical was nominated for seven Tony Awards and the Original Broadway Cast soundtrack won a Grammy in 1995. Both "Keep On Rollin'" and "Teach Me How To Shimmy" epitomise Leiber and Stoller's ability to create stories with their compositions. "Keep On Rollin" sounds like a moving train trudging along and contains all of the optimism of heading somewhere new and upon listening to the rock 'n' roll "Teach Me How To Shimmy" you won't be able to help attempt your best interpretation of the 60’s swing.

Elvis Presley - "Love Me"

Elvis' interpreted 'Love Me' differently to how Leiber and Stoller expected but they were pleasantly surprised with his heartfelt version. His vocals have the quality of a drunken warble thus creating the perfect serenade for a pleading love song. After the success of 'Love Me', Leiber & Stoller began writing tracks specifically for Elvis, such as the score for his feature films Love Me Tender and Jailhouse Rock.

Michael Jackson's brother Jermaine has denied the singer's Neverland Ranch was ever for sale - insisting the property would go on the market "over my dead body".

The California estate was reportedly scheduled to be sold off if Jackson failed to pay GBP12.25 million he owed in property taxes by 19 March.

The Thriller hitmaker was believed to have saved his home by agreeing a deal with an investment group that will allow him to retain ownership.

But Jermaine has insisted the property was never under threat.

He tells TMZ.com, "It's very simple. It's not for sale. Not over my dead body. It's not for sale."

And when asked if the property would be sold if it went into foreclosure, he added, "That's a myth."

Jermaine cracks me up. LOL! I also find it very amusing how the media turned Jermaine's little quotes, into a full article.

Rasta Pasta, I was reading that Sony/ATV - Guitar Hero game news yesterday. It put a smile on my face, because Mr. Bandier is no joke, homeboy is gonna WORK that catalog for all it's worth.

That Guitar Hero game is a GOLD MINE! It's just a matter of time, before the Beatles are a part of that game's line up. LOVE IT!

Last year Simon was kind of nice about Mike. There were some rumors that they were going to do something for Thriller 25 and he talked about it. I guess whatever it was never happened

TMZ sucks donkey balls.

The second article about his animals was nice at least. Michael's an animal advocat. Remember when PETA tried to trip out on him and say his animals were living in filth and their own blood, from some fuzzy helicopter shots of the property? lol, attention seeking whores. He rescued Bubbles from a cancer research facility back in the day and he housed several endangered species on his property and has always taken far better care of them then most zoo's ever do for their animals.

I love that "Michael Jackson and the rest of the world" part.:p

The Art Of Making A Good Album: Is It Lost In Today's Profitable Uniformity?

It seems like cavemen were rolling the first wheels when albums were interesting enough for fans to listen to from beginning to end. There was a time when a hot single meant a hot record. Fans bought concert souvenirs at concerts, not on eBay or at Wal-Mart, and originality was the trend as opposed to monotony. Things have changed.
Maybe its time for the music history to repeat itself. Let’s bring back the long hair, painted faces, shell toe Adidas, and high-end Dapper Dan fits, or need I say, the silver glove or a revealing pair of purple pants. There was a time when Sam Goody and F.Y.E. would have lines of customers flooded in the aisles. A customer would proudly purchase three or four CDs at once. According to Nielsen SoundScan, U.S. sales were down 20 percent in the first quarter of 2007. Now, music lovers have to convince themselves if one purchase is worthy, even at an all-time low of $9.99.
What happened to the glory days? Has bland image and profitable uniformity made talent a thing of the past? Within the past few years, there has been a notion that “Hip Hop Is Dead.” It can be argued that music in general is on the verge of decomposing. Nowadays, fans are lucky if their favorite artist’s new joint has four repeat-worthy tracks. Michael Jackson and the rest of the world just celebrated the 25th Anniversary of “Thriller.” Will there be more groundbreaking creations?
A few of the albums that have compelled fans to listen to LPs from beginning to end include The Beatles, Abbey Road; Bob Marley, Legend; Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin IV; U2, The Joshua Tree; Nirvana, Nevermind; AC DC, Back In Black; Simon & Garfunkel, Bridge Over Troubled Water; and Sex Pistols; Never Mind the Bullocks Here's the Sex Pistols.
The music industry, rather the slope of music, has been moving on a downward pattern, but it has a fruitful past. The creators of the aforementioned albums vigorously backed their music. Record sessions were reportedly undisciplined, fractious and at times unlawful; however, these sessions resulted in a productivity that left a canyon-like dent in music. Music lovers miss the days of blindly grabbing their favorite artist’s album, expecting it to be good before hearing it.
Let’s not leave able artists stuck in the lines of Unsigned Hype, in a quarter of a page in local newspapers, in smoky lounges, or in dusty garages. Let’s introduce them to the world. The inconsistency of albums being complete, unique works of art may be the cause of low record sales. Add some color.

Datsymay, please see my edited post hope that clears up things further Michael had two pop catalog albums that were the greatest sales gainers this week:punk:
That is very great to see. Impressive. Man I can't wait to see what a new album will do. The world will go nuts.

Yeah, if Michael's old stuff is doing this good, imagine what a new "Off The Wall"-like album will do? I hope to God that Michael's album is really good....no electronic stuff, no whispering.....lots of melodies.....dance tunes.....lovely ballads......just overall good.

this is annoying me.. lol!

I am on the phone with an APPLE represenitive trying to get my wifi on my ipod toch fixed.. Anyways, this guy mis heard my name which is Rasheed.. And keeps calling me BASHIR.. AHHHHHHHHH

He's like. "ok mr. Bashir".. so annoying..

this was very off topic. lol! but that is the news I bring you today.. lol!

The Beatles' music should have been more accessible before now. Watching American Idol last night made me aware that young folks are not schooled on Beatles music. The interpretations of some of their songs were literally what the songs were not about. AI contestants did not do their research and just murdered the songs and their interpretations. What's the use in having good music if the public never hear it? This music should be available so that future generations can enjoy it and understand the meaning behind it. jmo

The reason why the young people are not into the Beatles music is because they simply don't appeal to them. I betcha if you were to ask them to sing a Michael Jackson song they would know exactly how to do it.

Truth is, the media has been trying very hard for years to push the Beatles and Elvis on the younger generations but it just doesn't register. I don't know of one single young act out there today that says they were influenced by the Beatles and Elvis. But we can put a list two miles long on this board of young acts who have listed Michael as their influence. So whose bad?

And for Simon to say it was boring just says it all.

while tmz and them lavish praise on other people and put their snide **** in their comments on MJ, and while they're still saying 'it is believed'...that MJ refinanced...yada yada yada....(it's a dirty job, but somebody's gotta 'report' it), and while people LOVE to speak for MJ(guy who explains the parting of MJ from his animal friends) and while you can feel that Jermaine is Jermaine, and right on point, cus tha Jacksons have known about sharks for years and are still standing....it's nice to know that MJ is ok, as usual.

I thank you, vncwilliam, for your post. I agree with you. :flowers:

Visiting Neverland was like sitting on a cloud.
You knew you really can't sit on cloud, but here you were doing it.

I guarantee you come May 14th and Michael still owns Neverland, the media is simply gonna claim that some rich friend gave him the money. But deep inside, they will be hurt because they won't have all this doom and gloom to report about Michael loosing his ranch.

I will speak for myself here when it comes to the Beatles..

I am 22 years old. I have a wide range of music that I love, goes actually past the 19 hundreds.. I have liked some rag time type music awsell.. which is pretty damn old. I have taken a few music history classes and have been introduced to a wide range of music.. Also I am multi racial/cultural and love several types of music..

With the Beatles, I have found them to have great lyrics. They have written great music, arangement is wonderful, BUT.. I just find them boring. What I mean by that is, I find they lack the passion I find in vocals and instramentals. Keep in mind I listen to almost everything. I love most types of music.

much of our music today is heavily influenced by Africa based instramentals and styling.. This is what I love. Today what we know as Pop is about 60% african influenced, and 40% European music.

The Beatles had a much stronger eurpean sound than almost any other big band. I am not that attracted to the sound..

The sounds (African/European) goes deeper than many think.. Much of which I did not understand untill I took music history classes.. like Jazz History, etc... The instramental arangement is competly different. Not just that but the way instraments are used, the forfront and background of instraments and vocals etc... Most music we listen to today has a strong African influenced.. Those who have studied music history will know what I am talking about, others it may go over there head and get defensive..

If I find some time I'll explain more...

With the Beatles, I have found them to have great lyrics. They have written great music, arangement is wonderful, BUT.. I just find them boring. What I mean by that is, I find they lack the passion I find in vocals and instramentals. Keep in mind I listen to almost everything. I love most types of music.

Wow, KOPV, you are saying it right here! This is exactly why I think the Beatles music doesn't appeal to young people today as much as it should given how much the media pushes them onto the public. When I think of the Beatles music, I have to say that John's and Paul's strength was in their songwriting. But the music was just wack to me....no melody...just boring all around. And to be fair to the AI contestants last night, if you notice, all of them changed the music to the songs! All of them! They were trying to do something different with the music. And that Kichi dude actually changed his music to country! The little girl who sang Yesterday actually did a really good job with the lyrics, but you can see that she was moving towards an R&B groove.

The reason why the young people are not into the Beatles music is because they simply don't appeal to them. I betcha if you were to ask them to sing a Michael Jackson song they would know exactly how to do it.

Your right about the "young people." When I was watching the Thriller episode of America's Best Dance Crew, I was amazed at how much those young people knew about Michael.

One of them said "EVERYBODY knows this video," when talking about the Thriller video. Then there was the young man, who started to cry, when his group picked Beat It. I mean, to see that type of admiration from a group of young people, made me very happy.

I really really dislike that first article.
Thanks for the news!
"So many sleepover children happy with his concoction of jeezus juice"?

Just to name one thing about it that pretty much sets the tone. I bet Shannon missed that or wouldn't have posted it. TMZ as a rule is bad news.

Thanks for the news, as always, Rasta Pasta and everyone else.

Guitar Hero sooooo rocks!! I wanna GET IT!! I am glad that the Beatles songs might be used in that game. Just IMAGINE how much MJ is going to get paid! Damn! LOL. Guitar Hero is very popular.

People, do not get too upset about crappy TMZ because they know that MJ is going to keep their house. Those people are just stalkers and haters. TMZ was created to tear people down and not to uplift people. They are in the business and shock, horror and bullish. Period. Jermaine can say whatever he wants - he is Jermaine.

Thriller 25 is STILL doing the darn thing!! Go, Michael!!!
