Michael Jackson sang the lead vocals on a #1 record in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. If we do not get a new album the 00's will end an incredible streak.

well we did get 2001.. Invincible..

But yes the GREATEST streak

Well I really hope he will still make albums and videos. But whatever makes MJ happy...whatever he wants to do... is fine with me. No pressure. I just want hiom to be happy. But I would be very sad if he'd not make music, etc. anymore because he IS the BEST...

If Michael doesn't make a new album, it's not the end of the world. Personally, I would be disappointed, but I would understand why. Michael has been through hell and back in the past 5 years, and if he felt like retiring, I wouldn't hold it against him.

If Michael does decide to retire, though, I hope he announces it to the world, instead of building up everyone's hopes for a new album.

Michael has been through hell and back in the past 5 years, and if he felt like retiring,
that is why he, for sure, will want to mark his identity with a brand new album...
he's a musician/singer/ dancer and survivor
unbreakble....:)
and the music world needs him badly and he is 100%aware of it

He doesn't have to put out another album so much as he needs a single either solo or featuring him and someone and as long as he is credited and it goes no.1 it would be one of the greatest records in the industry because i don't see any of these current stars having no.1's stretching over 4 or more decades.

Michael is in Guiness Book of World Record for 'Longest span between US #1 singles'
Ben 1972 - You Are Not Alone 1995
23 years
Imagine another #1 hit now.
Ben 1972 - "new song" 2008
36 years

That would be absolutely CRAZY!

And Mariah and Madonna have proven this can be achieved easily with enough hype and promotion of your upcoming work.

But Michael isn't 25, 35 anymore, he's turning 50! I don't think it's old but it's not young either... If he brought out a new album today it wouldn't be the same as in I can't see him putting in the whole WOW affect he put in with previous albums before Invincible eg; The army of police following him, the costumes, the statues, the tours, everything! That's why Invincible didn't seem like a MICHAEL JACKSON album/era, it was lacking all of that "aura" and that "wow" factor!

Invincible was boring & I'm being honest, it blended in with all the other albums out which is something that never happens with Michael Jackson. His heart wasn't in it and I don't want him to make the same mistake twice; to just bring out an album cause everyone else wants one! I'd rather him retire with dignity to be honest.

Michael is also has the longest running career with number 1 albums through 4 decades.. 70's, 80's, 90's, & 00's..

My goodness where is the faith?!! Did he not say that there is more to come from him just recently after he received the Lefetime Acheivement Award? I don't like threads like these becasue even though the intention is not to start negativity, it leads me to believe that some fans don't htink he will put out another album simply because we're not hearing from him as often as some would like. It amuses me how some fans seem to think he's not doing anything towards his career in the future because it's so quiet. Wake up people! That's his strategy! It's the calm before the storm for sure. If I've learned anything from being a fan of Michael's it is that patience is virtue. You cannot rush a masterpiece. Some of you guys really need to lighten up and continue to have faith in the man. He would not make any promises that he doesn't plan on keeping. And 2003-2006 or whatever does not count for obvious reasons as WBSS has pointed out previously in another thread so I won't even go there. But damn there are sure enough some doom and gloomers it seems.

Keep Michaeling everyone,
Christian

opinion based. i love invincible. the music, the songwritting, the vocals, the whole thing. had there been more videos alot of other peoples perceptions would have changed on that album too. its still the same album tho.

also, madonna is turning 50 also. she is making a bang. she will sell millions. why not MJ too? give him a break, yikes.

Madonna is Madonna, it's no big deal with her. She will not be judged, the world doesn't STOP for Madonna! MICHAEL JACKSON is on another level, it's a world event when MJ releases a new album...

My goodness where is the faith?!!
Apparently there isn't any.

And of course people need to look up what happened with SOny before they start ragging about what MJ did/didn't do with Invincible. MJ had a lot planned that was never executed...read up on it.

And I love how lots of fans have this strange ability to get inside of MJ's head in order to know what he's passionate about and what he isn't. I also love how people just know what is best for the man and know eeeevverything about the mind set that he is in now and what he can and cannot do. You act like Mj is just ready to throw in the towel or something, like he's sooooooo old that he is losing his memory and just FORGOT how to entertain and make good music! So of course, if he is THAT old, then he should just retire and give it up....he is just one step away from needing a walker apparantly  Yep....Michael Jackson, so old he can't function.

Ya'll need to get a grip. Seriously. MJ is as old as he feels. So i think in his book he just reached 10 years  MJ can still move, ya know. He's still ALIVE...ya know. LoL He can still run and climb on top of SUV's and ish like he's 10 years old with no problem....i hope ya'll know that.
If MJ wants to do something, when he sets his mind to it, he ALWAYS...ALWAYS creates magic. Even if Invincible is not your cup of tea, it was for a lot of people, and it CERTAINLY didn't 'blend in' with the albums that came out at the time....the quality was 100 TIMES better and MJ ALWAYS delivers. you dn't have to like the album. But that doesn't mean that its not a good album by ANY standards, even MJ's.

Its all good though. Ya'll keep doubting the man, like i said. MJ WANTS YOU TO. Why? Because it'll be so funny when you all disappear and stay quiet when he does come out with guns blazing....you'll be silent because you all would be feeling salty that MJ proved you wrong. MJ's waiting to prove some FANS wrong (which is a shame he has to prove to the FANS that he still has it...what kinda mixed up bizzaro world is that? Where the whole world doubts the man, and not even his own FANS have faith in him? Ain't that a shame?)and he is waiting to prove the WORLD wrong. So keep on, keepin' on....gotta make the best of..baaaddd situations (like pessimism).....as Gladys Knight used to say  Keep on doubting. I wanna see u come back to this conversation when MJ brings the goods.

I myself am tired of reading these threads. I will not be disappointed in Mike if no new album comes. The music he has given us already is good enough for me. Whatever he decides to do I will be fine with it.

Would be crap now if Michael decides to retire. Id get over it but still, it would be crap. After all the hype of a comeback/new album.

Lots of fans will talk BS sayin oh i dont care if we get a new album or not! We all know thats not true. Every single fan would be disapointed if a new album doesnt come! Its a fact! We all wanna see MJ back with a new album!

Personally i wanna know if Mike still has it to perform on stage, as well as the charts!

Also its easy to say have faith! But where is that faith suppost to come from when we know nothing what so ever?

whyyyy is it so pertinent that WE have the security of knowing that MJ can beat Justin Timberlake and Usher? WHY is that so important? If MJ feels that he doesn't have anything left to prove (which he doesnt)...why is it so bad? For OUR satisfaction? is it for OUR satisfaction that we KNOW our favorite artist is super music man? EVEN DESPITE the fact taht the man has done TONS AND TONS of stuff and revolutionized music as we know it in his 40 year career, and the MAN KNOWS THIS. Why can't WE realize this? why isn't what he's done already enough?

The only reason i'd be disappointed if he retires now is because of the album hype, not because he NEEDS to do more....but the fact is, he's not going to retire. And that's straight from MJ's own MOUTH.

he really hasn't if you look at the totality of a 40 year career. Most folks with 40 + years have done much more than Michael

Michael NEEDS to come baack... Like I became a fan in 2004 and since then the only feeling that came close to a new album launch was Thriller 25. I just want to experience the hype of a brand new album....I wanna see MJ do well because I enjoy nothing more then seeing him kick ass on the radio and television. I love when people talk about MJ's music... its a motivating feeling. Like okay I dont need this massive world tour to be happy, just a few large scale performances and a brand new album. That would make me so happy.

In the end its all up to MJ/ I respect whatever decision he makes because its his life and not mine. But I can still have an opinion on what I believe he should do. I think I speak for everybody when I say I want MJ to release new music.

Okay jaydom. Sure. MJ hasn't done crap ish in his forty year career. Yep. You're sooo right. Compared to other people with 40 year music careers (cuz there are so many of them right?) MJ ain't done CRAP.

Like practically invent music videos...I mean sometimes i gotta ask mike, "GEEZ? Can't u be more orginal? There are SO many artist that have invented music videos in their career...geez. You havent done ANYTHING but sit on ur butt the last 40 years. And geez, Mike there are TONS of people that have the biggest selling album of all time...I mean gosh....thats nothing Michael. Everyone's doing it. Having the biggest selling album of all time 25 years running is what's IN right now, its what's POPULAR! Everyone with a music career has one...people are getting biggest selling albums of all time like people are getting MP3 players....i mean it's nothing! 40 years Mike? And all you have to show for it is changing the face of music videos, being a musical icon/legend, having the biggest selling album of all time, and having influence in almost every music video/performance u see on tv nowadays? COME ON! That's all u got?"

You went over the top there tbh. Releasing music at his pace isnt alot within a 40yr career he meant???

Hes released how many albums in nearly 30 years? OTW, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, HIStory, Invincible. 6 isnt that much tbh

I dunno... a phrase comes to mind.

"It's quality, not quantity" right?

And last time a checked releasing albums every year doesn't exactly mean u've done aaaalll that much in the scheme of things. And yes in 40 years, MJ has done a lot despite releasing 6 albums.

And if u reeally wanna go by that scale, then in Britney Spear's 10 year career, she has released 5 albums....that means in 40 years (if her career spans that long) she'll have 20 albums probably! Well...man, I guess that makes her a music goddess doesn't it? Changing music doesn't mean crap, and isn't 'work' at all, when u can dish out an album as frequently as possible like Britney can!

Me personally, I'm only being cautious around the new album thing because I KNOW me. If I got my hopes up and started getting all excited about it just to be told that there isn't going to be a new album, I would be pretty disapointed and I don't want to run the risk of that disapointment ruining all the good memories and experiences I've had in my short time of being a fan. It's not a reflection on Mr. Jackson at ALL. There is not a doubt in my mind whatsoever that the man is still as driven and still as amazing an artist as he ever was and as most artists ever will be. And I know that he could still put out music that would just blow the world away. I just want to save myself from my own bad attitude I guess:lol:

Opinions, wants , desires, fans, industry, media, non-stop drama. Wonder how Michael feels being put into the lion's den of doubt, mis-trust and abandonment.

NO ONE can predict Michael's future and at this point I'm uncertain Michael can. I certainly can't predict my own so I'm not qualified to try and predict that of a man I don't personally know.

I do however think there are so many outside issues to deal with before he can release anything new and people fussing about it doesn't do any good. He may simply be in a spot where he can't do anything until the lawsuits are over. Or he has other reasons who knows it's not really up for debate as they are his issues and we don't fully know or understand any of it.

Michael will do what Michael will do. We are just along for the ride. That includes rest stops, speed bumps, detors and whatever else is thrown at us. Just pull out your Nintendo DS's, Ipods or head phones when the traffic is backed up and wait ;)

When the journey ends there will be a whole lifetime to enjoy old and new

To those of you saying his 6 major albums are not enough:
Do you not take into account the countless amount of music Michael made from age 10 onwards (and thats not including his work for Steeltown). In the begining Michael made large volumes of music. As his career developed he began taking longer on his craft and creating more quality projects. The reason since 1979 he has only had 6 major albums is because those albums sustained such an incredible longevity that he has had no need to release more.

Here is a run down of MJ's career post 1979 ..

1979 release Off The Wall
1980 release Triumph with brothers
1981 Triumph Tour
1982 release Thriller
1984 release Victory with brothers
1984 Victory tour
1985 We Are The World
1986 Captain EO
1987 release Bad
1987 Bad World Tour
1988 Bad World Tour
1989 ended Bad World Tour
1991 release Dangerous
1992 Dangerous World Tour
1993 Dangerous World Tour
1995 release HIStory
1996 HIStory World Tour
1996 release movie Ghosts
1997 HIStory World Tour
1997 release Blood on the Dance Floor
1999 MJ & Friends concerts
2001 release Invincible
2003 release Number Ones
ON THE SAME DAY AS NUMBER ONES COMES OUT MICHAEL GETS ARRESTED REMEMBER THAT? HMMM...
2004 release Ultimate Collection with 13 unreleased songs (if all compiled thats enough to be a new album on its own)
2005 AQUITTED
2008 release Thriller 25

Add that to the numerous Jackson 5 albums and #1 hits, the Jackson 5 Tours since 1970, Jackson 5 TV show... Plus all the music videos, charity things, award shows, interviews and promo performances in between. Has the man even had a day off in his LIFE?

How you like them apples?;)
