iTunes Presents: The World of Michael Jackson

iTunes has recently unveiled a "World of..." section of their store, which showcases select artists who have significantly contributed to the music scene. Today, on U.S. iTunes, the newly released "The World of Michael Jackson" is featured on the iTunes store home page. Along with a powerful introduction to the musical genius of Michael Jackson and a list of recommended MJ essentials, the page also contains a wealth of related content which help illustrate just how significant Michael Jackson has been in the music industry for the past 40 years. From Michael's own roots and influences (including James Brown), to similar-sounding artists, to cover songs by famous artists, to tracks which sample Michael's music, to Michael's own groundbreaking music videos, and much more, this featured iTunes section acts as a hub in showcasing Michael's creative influence on others.

Currently, iTunes has created "World of..." pages for 22 different artists including Aretha Franklin, Bob Marley, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Presley, Madonna, Stevie Wonder, and others--with Michael Jackson's being the first on the list.

Wow cool. I love seeing MJ everywhere...it sounds like people are finally giving him the props he deserves.
 
This is cool! I will have to check it out tonight when Im at home since this comp at my work doesnt have I-tunes... Great to see I-tunes supporting MJ though!!

Man, that's so cool. Thanks for typing it up, since I don't have I-Tunes. They actually gave him just credit, and he's the first on the list, that makes it even cooler.

Thanks for the news; but did the slanderous biography go away? If yes, then it could be almost revolution since iTunes has the power for millions of new listeners around the world.

If listeners will not face the shocking "biography", then they may have cardinally better chances to become Michael's fans; this could have long-running impact on Jackson's future and legacy.

I just got off visiting the page a few minutes ago. There's alot of cool stuff in there, especially the MJ Covers and MJ Samples lists. It's worth checking out! :kickass:

Naw Naw, the bio is OK for newbies , but just as a MJ fan I found myself making some corrections and the bio leaving out some things in the latter portion. It became a little opinionated from what I read...let me see if I can post the bio here...

In his prime, Jackson was an unstoppable juggernaut, posseded of all the tools to dominate the charts seemingly at will: an instantly indentifiable voice,eye popping dance moves, stunning musical versatility, and loads of sheer star power. His 1982 blockbuster Thriller became the biggest selling album of all time (probably his best known accomplishment), and he was the first black artist to find stardom on MTV, breaking down innumerable boundaries both for his race and for music video as an art form. Yet as Jackson's career began, very gradually, to descend from the dizzying heights of his peak years, most of the media's attention focused on his increasingly bizzare eccentricites; he was often depicted as an arrested man-child, completely sheltered from an adult reality by a life spent in show business. The snickering turned to scandal in 1993, when Jackson was accused of molesting a 13 year old boy; although he categorically denied the charges, his out-of-court settlement failed to restore his tarnished image. He never quite escaped the stigma of those allegations, and while he continued to sell records at superstar-like levels, he didn't release them with enough frequency (or,many critics though inspiration) to once again become better known for his music than his private life. Whether as a pop icon or tabloid caricature, Jackson always remained bigger than life.

You just can not avoid the smell of slander just from the phasing of that "biography". Author writes direct lies few times, includes insinuative comments and descriptions, and omits basic critical facts that could make reader's impression on Jackson after reading totally different than after this piece of prejudice and manipulations.

If only Michael's people could request for rewrite of that "biography" so there would be no defamation.
 
^^ Yes, but overall it's a lot better than some bios I've read. I does highlight some great achievements but sort of flows like a rollercoaster...like how everything was awesome during Thriller then just went to hell and Mike "lost his mind"...

but lets keep it positive this is a very good thing plus this is on the Home page of itunes!!

yes . i think alot of people are finaly giving him the respect he deserves and its so great to see him everywhere and it being so much positive.
 
Alright now that I have been able to read this with more detail I gotta say...Im very impressed. Finally they have done Michael some justice. Even their facts are right (750 million albums, biggest pop star ever, etc)... They build him up in such a positive way. I also really liked the covers and samples pages...how people can buy a whole package of artists who have covered or sampled a MJ song. The write ups are amazing and this is exactly what MJ needed. If I knew who to write to then I would write them an email telling them how much I liked them portraying Mj in such a positive light. If only they had this in the Canadian I-Tunes...
