Why did MJ mime to Janet's voice on "Dangerous" performances?

I recently thought about this, so I decided to start a thread about it.

I've seen a couple of performances of "Dangerous", and I've noticed a couple of times that Michael mimed to Janet's voice, specifically the lines "You know you want me" and "Get the point? Good. Let's dance!"

You can see an example of this here (MTV Awards '95):



And my question is... Why?

I guess it might be a kind of tribute to Janet, but I still find it a bit funny.

ummmm why wouldnt he? it was just a little shout out.
 
why ? well , i think it fits the performance of dangerous very well in a cool new way. a great mix of dangerous/janets voice/smooth criminal.

Michael said in private home videos that he dance a lot to Janets music.
 
this performance so perfect.. I cant stand it :giggle::blush:

I think he forgot to stop libsyncing at that point. Her part becomes part of the lyric to him, and its natural for him to sing along maybe?
 
well he's always mimed to that part as far i can remember...

besides i always find it's a little bit of comedy in the routine...i like it :)

always gets the laughs whenever i perform it and to me it's good :D
 
hes always mimed to janets voice during the dangerous performances from 95 onward.Why? because its incorporated into the song,i love the dangerous performances i prefer the 93 then 99 then 95-97 ones

Maybe he mimed it cuz he's cool like that;D...he's Michael Jackson... he's the only person who could get away with wearing a single white glove, and walking around with a Monkey...*thinks of the simpsons episode*
 
He is the king of pop, he needs no reason. :lol:

Because he wanted to and he loves his sister?... Why are you questioning it?

 
Wasn't "Edit" from the VMA/1999 concerts medley from Janet also (before Beat It)?
 
whenever I show that performance to people when that part comes they always go "whoa what the heck was that?" I think they think it's his voice and it creeps em out.
 
i thought that was a great idea..prob from the humorous statement he made about him and Janet not being the same person, cus people tend to think him and his sisters look alike...or are the same person. i don't know if that was the reason, but whatever the reason or no, it was funny in a cool way.

when he had her voice while he was dancing, it was fun and really cool.
 
Because it's the way to say the truth and get away with it as technically it was not him speaking :) :)) Lets' be honest - we know we want him :) :)

PS. Edited to add that I consider this dance the most sexual thing that he ever done. It reminds me a lot of ... well ... interlude and following actions :) :) This guy knows how to turn somebody on :) :)

I think he was making a point in that it is obvious that singer/dancers NEED to mime or they would sing while out of breathe (not the best sound sung live). Of course it is a shout out to janet, and if I think it was the first time a brother sister team shared lyrical bits. janet does too according to her forum, but I can't find any examples. Michael very well may have thought this up first. He seems to be able to invent new ways of performing left and right. Just another first from MJ.

I can't wait to hear about the first night. I'm in the US, can't afford to go and I'm relying on everyone here who is lucky enough to attend more than one night to keep those of us unable to go updated at each moment. Between everyone on this board going to opening night, I can't help but quiver. I am afraid you will all be so taken away with Mike that you will forget to snap pics and twitter us. Please don't forget the little people. I sure do hope they film this and release it ASAP.

I am seriously getting more and more upset that I am unable to attend. I live in CA and even though it is ridiculous and impossible, I keep waiting to hear from Mike saying, "Hey B, Ima pick you up when we go to London. I want your view as a fan while we practice. Would you mind?" Then I say, "No problem Mike. See you soon", then drop to the floor as I faint. One can dream, yes?

man i don't think anyone can even draw animation that can dance as well as Mike. that dangerous dance is smokin.

because he likes that song as it is..
he didnt want to make this segment his so he "just" danced to it...he did sing along but his mike was not turned on...
 
WoW so this is a serious question. Well, for 1..it's cool! Secondly, it's Michaels sister, he loves her....and lastly, with the exception of Scream - Michael and Janets music never really crossed (we're not going to count PYT) - so it was a suprise, a cool suprise. and a show of support for eachother. And di I say it was hot?

By the time the first performance is finishing, you'll be waking up I expect. It'll be difficult to sleep properly that night! :yes:

As I am lucky enough to be going I'll have to make the effort to stay away from the boards from 13th until 19th July. It'll be difficult, but I'm gonna do it! :punk:
 
Michael also used Janet's voice on Dangerous on his performance's for the HIStory Tour and Michael & Friends two charity concerts in 1999.

I think the edits of Janets voice suit really suit the song Dangerous. The only thing about Michael lip-syncing Janets voice on his performances of Dangerous from 1995 onwards is that it makes it more obvious Michael whole performance of the song is lip-synced.
