Re: Jackson Doctor Avoids Having License Suspended

June 14th is the hearing date for the criminal case
June 25th is the hearing date for this medical licence case.

Re: Jackson Doctor Avoids Having License Suspended

Nevada medical board tried to suspend his licence based on a technicality (they acted quite smartly IMO). When doctors apply for a licence they fill out information such as "are you ever convicted of a crime" , "are you paying court ordered child support" etc etc.

Murray lied on this application about the child support (he said he didn't have any outstanding child support, in reality he wasn't paying child support). Nevada medical board tried to suspend his licence based on the fact that he lied on it. (so they don't really care about the child support, they were just trying to use that to suspend his licence). Apparently the court did not approve this request.

Murray as a doctor is not getting any special treatment. In US it's very hard and long process to get doctor's licences revoked. The law is based on "innocent until found guilty" and Murray has not yet found guilty in a court of law.

so we have to wait and stay strong. it will happen eventually.

I hear what your saying, but oh, Michael should have had the same benefit, INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!!!
Now this same piece of sh!t gets to run free, even though he lied on a document which is proof enough to show he is dishonest...when are people going to wake the F54k up? Damn his ass!!!
And TMZ should be reporting all this negative sh!T about MURRAY and never stop reporting it. They need to drag his ass through the mud just as they did Michael. Even more than Michael!!!

Instead, their putting up fake ass stories about Michael which aren't true!

Decision on Jackson doc's license postponed
By KEN RITTER

LAS VEGAS — A court officer in Las Vegas postponed a decision Friday on whether the doctor accused of administering a fatal dose of anesthetic to pop star Michael Jackson should be allowed to keep practicing medicine in his home state of Nevada.

Dr. Conrad Murray's professional fate rests not with the Nevada state Board of Medical Examiners, but with a ruling in Clark County Family Court.

Clark County Prosecutor Gerard Costantian tried on Friday to persuade a Family Court hearing master to recommend Murray's medical license be suspended because he's almost $16,000 behind in child support to the mother of his 12-year-old son in Santa Clara County, Calif.

The hearing officer, Elliot Yug, set a June 25 hearing date in order to have the results of a May 27 court hearing in Santa Clara, where Murray's lawyer said the woman will formally waive the doctor's past child support debt.

“She's going to forgive the debt because she wants to,” attorney Charles Peckham said.

Murray, who also practiced in Houston, has kept current paying $1,003 a month since November, after appearing before a Family Court judge who expressed surprise but accepted an informal agreement that the woman would forgive his past debt if Murray began paying monthly. The judge at that time set a July 5 hearing to ensure the agreement was working.

Costantian said Friday he filed a request April 1 to go after Murray's medical license after Murray failed to produce a California court order formalizing the debt forgiveness.

Nevada law allows Family Court judges to order suspensions of medical, professional and recreational licenses for nonpayment of child support.

Murray's license to practice medicine in California has been restricted by a judge who arraigned him in February on a felony involuntary manslaughter charge in Jackson's death and allowed him to remain free on $75,000 bail pending trial. A court hearing regarding his California medical license is scheduled for June 14.

Texas medical authorities followed the California judge's order and restricted Murray, 57, a cardiologist, from administering the drug authorities say was responsible for killing Jackson.

His medical license in Nevada is unrestricted, but police and Medical Board officials have said they are aware of the California judge's order.

Jackson, 50, was about to launch a world comeback tour when he died last June after being found unresponsive with Murray at his bedside in a Beverly Hills mansion. Murray had been hired at $150,000 a month to be Jackson's personal physician. He told police he administered the anesthetic propofol to Jackson as a treatment for insomnia.

Murray's lawyers have pleaded with judges to allow Murray to continue to practice medicine so he can pay his bills, including his legal expenses and his child support obligation.

Oh, and what about pp&b, they have no father BECAUSE MURRAY KILLED HIM! BUT, he still gets to practice after all of his short coming??? and pp&b will suffer throughout their life because of it MURRAY. JUSTICE, means nothing anymore.:( I don't get it, I just do not comprehend this. I think I will start writting letters again. *sigh* this man is going to pay!

Re: Updated: Murray bid to have child support waived fails-could lose license

Michael Jackson doc could lose license
By KEN RITTER • Associated Press Writer • May 27, 2010

LAS VEGAS — Michael Jackson's former doctor lost a bid in a California court to resolve a child support issue that threatens his Nevada medical license.

A Santa Clara County Superior Court commissioner rejected a bid Thursday by attorneys for Dr. Conrad Murray to obtain a court order relieving Murray of an obligation to pay about $16,000 in back child support to the mother of his 12-year-old son.

Authorities in Las Vegas had said that if Murray got the California court order, Nevada would stop efforts to revoke his medical license for failure to pay.

Re: Updated: Murray bid to have child support waived fails-could lose license

good.......

Re: Jackson Doctor Avoids Having License Suspended

there are several cases (criminal, medical malpractice, licence suspension and child support) against him. as each case is different it's likely that he will have different lawyers with different specialties. The number of the lawyers is reasonable given all the lawsuits.

as for the lawyer costs there are several possibilities
- could be pro bono - some lawyers would take high profile cases for publicity (to make a name for themselves/ example: gloria allred)
- could be medical malpractice insurance paying for some of the lawyer costs
- could be that they agree to be paid at a later time

And I too have a problem with my emotions when it comes to MURRAY, he should have been found guilty on one of those by now, damn it!!! 5 lawyers. The man LIED! Plan and simple.
There a a few NO NONSENCE judges, MURRAY seems to manage to dodge them. I swear, if he had not had those letters in front of his name (Dr), he would have been thrown in jail with a bail set so high he couldn't afford to pay it.

CA Renews Bid to Suspend Jackson Doctor's License

CA Renews Bid to Suspend Jackson Doctor's License
By ANTHONY McCARTNEY (AP) – 1 hour ago

LOS ANGELES — California's medical board has again asked a judge to suspend the license of the doctor charged in Michael Jackson's death. The state attorney general's office argued in a brief filed Monday that the current prohibition against Dr. Conrad Murray using anesthetics is insufficient.

"While the defendant asserts that he will not practice in California, there is no legal bar to him changing his mind and engaging in practice in this state," the filing states.

It also argues, "it is not just his 'prescribing' practices that are in question, but his fundamental judgment and skill as a physician."
Murray's attorney Ed Chernoff said he will file a response to the court later this week.

Murray is due back in court Monday. He has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of the singer from the anesthetic propofol and other drugs.

Murray's medical license is likely to be the dominant issue of the hearing. His lawyers have previously argued it is unnecessary to revoke Murray's California license since he does not practice in the state. They also cautioned that a suspension would have a domino effect leading to his inability to practice at his clinics in Nevada and Texas, where he is also licensed.

In April, the Texas Medical Board restricted Murray from administering propofol or any anesthetic agent normally administered by an anesthesiologist.
Murray's medical license in Nevada is also at risk because of unpaid child support payments.

Last month, the cardiologist stabilized a woman who fell unconscious and had a weak pulse on a US Airways flight from Houston.

Dr. Murray Targeted By California Medical Board

The California Medical Board wants a judge to order Dr. Conrad Murray to stop practicing medicine ASAP -- in order to "protect California's citizens."

While Murray is already prohibited from administering "deep anesthetics" -- including propofol -- the Board has filed documents last week in L.A. County Superior Court, claiming those restrictions are "insufficient under the circumstances of this defendant's behavior."

In the docs, the Board states, "It is not just his 'prescribing' practices that are in question, but his fundamental judgment and skill as a physician."

The Board is requesting an order that Murray, "cease and desist from the practice of medicine" until his criminal trial regarding MJ's death reaches a conclusion.

Seriously though, It's been a year, and they JUST NOW realized???

Doc charged in Jackson death to keep Calif license

By LINDA DEUTSCH, AP Special Correspondent Linda Deutsch, Ap Special Correspondent – 5 mins ago

LOS ANGELES – A doctor charged in Michael Jackson's death will keep his California medical license after a judge ruled Monday he didn't have the authority to revoke it.

Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor declined a request by California authorities to suspend the ability of Dr. Conrad Murray to practice medicine in the state.

Pastor said there were no circumstances that warranted revisiting the conditions of Murray's bail.

California authorities have sought the suspension since Murray was charged with involuntary manslaughter in February.

Murray is accused of giving the pop star a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol last June. He has pleaded not guilty.

He showed no reaction to Pastor's ruling`.

Pastor said he may revisit the issue of Murray's medical license, but only if there was new information or possibly after a preliminary hearing.

Several members of Jackson's family, including his father Joe, mother Katherine, sister LaToya and brother Jermaine, attended the hearing.

Murray's attorneys fought the restriction, arguing that it would prompt authorities in Texas and Nevada to take similar action.

Murray operates clinics in both states, which have ordered him not to use anesthetics on his patients.

Murray's attorney Ed Chernoff said in documents filed Friday that Nevada and Texas have reached agreements to allow Murray to practice as long as he abides by a judge's order not to administer anesthetics such as propofol.

The pop music legend died June 25 after Murray, his personal physician, administered propofol and other drugs to help him sleep.

Murray maintains nothing he did should have killed Jackson.

Pastor was asked by the state attorney general to overrule another judge's decision that allowed Murray to keep practicing.

Murray remains free on $75,000 bail.

Last month, the cardiologist made news when he stabilized a woman who fell unconscious and had a weak pulse on a flight from Houston.

Dr. Murray Keeps His Medical License

Dr. Conrad Murray can keep practicing medicine in California while he awaits trial for the death of Michael Jackson ... so says the trial judge.

California Attorney General Jerry Brown -- who is running for Governor -- was shut down for a second time in his attempt to suspend Murray's license. Judge Michael Pastor ruled he did not have jurisdiction over the doc's medical license.

Interesting side note ... Murray's lawyer, Ed Chernoff, brought up a story TMZ broke -- that Murray came to the rescue of a sick passenger on a plane last month.

Judge Pastor also set Murray's preliminary hearing date for August 23.

Re: Doc charged in Jackson death to keep Calif license

is this case going to happen?? its been a year and still no updates ugh

I know, it's soooo frustrating! :huggy: Don't worry, these things always take time. Remember, Michael was arrested in late 2002, and his case didn't go to trial until 2005. Keep the faith.

Re: Doc charged in Jackson death to keep Calif license

This makes me sick. But then again, I didn't expect anything different. Ever since Michael died, people have been kissing Murray's butt. I bet nobody would care about Murray's excuses if Michael hadn't been the one that died. Why is a fully grown medical professional being treated like he shouldn't have any more sense than a five year-old? The stuff he's getting away with would cause any other doctor to lose everything with no chance of recovery.

Judge rules Dr. Conrad Murray can treat patients

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- A Los Angeles, California, judge refused Monday to ban Dr. Conrad Murray, charged with involuntary manslaughter in Michael Jackson's death, from practicing medicine in the state.

The California medical board had asked the judge to add the prohibition to bail conditions for Murray, who was the pop star's personal physician when he died.

Michael Jackson's parents, Joe and Katherine, sat next to each other on the front row in the small courtroom, along with the pop icon's brothers Jermaine and Randy and sister LaToya Jackson.

"Dr. Murray's the fall guy," Jermaine Jackson said after the hearing. "This is bulls**t."

Several members of the Jackson family have said they suspect that Michael Jackson's death was the result of a murder conspiracy, although they've not made public any evidence. A lawyer for Joe Jackson has said he was preparing a civil wrongful-death lawsuit in the singer's death.

Judge Michael Pastor set August 23 as the date for the start of the preliminary hearing for Murray, which the prosecutor said could last a week.

Murray's defense lawyers argued that the state was "forum shopping" by asking Pastor to reverse the decision by the first judge in the case not to suspend Murray's license.

Pastor agreed. "I simply don't have the ability to revisit the actions of one of my colleagues," he said.

Murray is still restricted from using anesthesia with patients, a bail provision he did not object to at his initial hearing in February.

The medical board can still initiate its own process to suspend Murray's California medical license, something state Attorney General Jerry Brown has indicated would be done.

Murray has not practiced medicine in the state since his last patient, Michael Jackson, died June 25, 2009, of what the coroner ruled was the result of acute propofol intoxication. Propofol is an anesthetic.

He resumed his medical practices in Houston, Texas, and Las Vegas, Nevada, last fall, defense lawyer Ed Chernoff said. Suspending his California license would trigger a domino effect, causing Texas and Nevada officials to take action, he said.

Taking away his income as a doctor would be a "death nail" in Murray's defense, because he then could not afford to pay for his lawyers or expert witnesses, a spokeswoman for the defense team said.

Re: Doc charged in Jackson death to keep Calif license

Oh shut up Jermaine. A cardiologist injected and administered medication that killed your brother. Something he had to know that was cleary unethical. He did kill your brother.

Re: Doc charged in Jackson death to keep Calif license

They need to stop down playing the f*cking doctor he was the one that injected the needle, what is Jermaine's problem?! Yea, I know others were involved but, Murray was the doctor! He is just as responsible!

Re: Doc charged in Jackson death to keep Calif license

you don't ask bloodless soulless money grubbing judges to revoke a license. of course they're not going to do it.

Re: Doc charged in Jackson death to keep Calif license

this waiting period is killing me .mean time Michaels brother and sister working on to build defense for murray with their drug addict stories.
i think randy was absent because he didn't like the seats and he is working on proving will not valid which is very important for him then putting murray behind bars .
 :ranting:

Re: Doc charged in Jackson death to keep Calif license

TMZ has an update, they claim Joe appeared to fall asleep during the hearing. I really hope that is not true. The hearing did not last that long.

Is it possible that someone from TMZ was in the courtroom? There was a lottery for people to be there.

:agree:You are spot on! That's one of the many issues with the case.

Re: Doc charged in Jackson death to keep Calif license

Disgusting!!

Re: Doc charged in Jackson death to keep Calif license

The California Medical Board can still suspend or revoke Murray's license to practice
here. It is a process that takes time but the Attorney General wants that to happen
and so does the Board. More patience required.
