Could someone with knowledge about the CA legal system explain how the judge doesn't have jurisdiction to suspend his licence for me?

Then how is it that the other judge could restrict him from administering anaesthetics?

Here's an explanatory quote from the AP story:

Pastor said it would conflict with established case law to change Schwartz's ruling and would set him up as "a one-judge appellate court."
"There is oftentimes in the real world a belief that judges can make up the rules as they go through a case," Pastor said.
However, he said, the law mandates, "I do not have the ability to revisit a ruling by one of my colleagues."
Pastor told Deputy District Attorney General Trina Saunders the medical board had the option of holding an administrative hearing on the license. He also said she could appeal his ruling.
Pastor said he might revisit the issue if there was new information.

Michael Jackson's family left court on Monday disappointed and angry over the judge's decision not to suspend Dr. Conrad Murray's medical license in California.

Outside the Los Angeles courthouse, Jackson's sister La Toya responded to the verdict by telling reporters: "It's not what we expected."

Tito, Katherine, and Joe Jackson were also in attendance. As they deparrted, Tito muttered profanities and Joe waved off reporters' questions with the dismissive statement, "You can read it in the papers."

The family's sour mood was no doubt due to Judge Michael Pastor's ruling not to take away Murray's medical license.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Judge Pastor refused to overturn the decision made by the last judge to hear the case, telling the court, "I don't have ability to revisit the actions of one of my colleagues. I do not have jurisdiction to revisit this matter. It doesn't have anything to do with how I feel or what I think. It has to do with the law and this court's ability to follow the law," Pastor said.

The Monday hearing in Los Angeles was the fourth time the office of California's attorney general, on behalf of the state's medical board, attempted to suspend Murray's medical license. Murray is also facing criminal charges in the death of Jackson.

Murray's defense said he has been in "absolute compliance" with the restrictions already placed on him (not using propofol and not practicing in California). They later brought up the recent incident of Murray helping a sick passenger during a flight as an example of Murray's continued use as a physician.

The prosecution countered saying Murray's actions were "egregious" and therefore the medical board does not want him using medical tools to continue practicing on the public.

ridiculous. why is there so big gaps inbetween the dates. its a joke. how long do prelims last? a day? a week? __________________

it is easy to understand, the longer time has past the better, the people will forget about the whole case. There are happening too many other things meanwhile, it is not longer important. It is a so called delaying tactic. This works. As I told from the beginning ... justice will not be done. Not for Michael. Not on this planet.

She didn't say anything remotely related to drugs on her twitter yesterday
(if it really was her. she did not air anything family or trial related on her twitter before, which I thought respectful)

I think we should try to understand how the whole system works rather than jumping with accusations without proper research.

UPDATE 1:10 PM PT: Dr. Murray's medical license is SAFE!! The judge just said he did not have jurisdiction to suspend it.

Ugh.

The preliminary hearing date has been set for August 23.

i posted in ithe family section because they were pics of the family and people wanted to see them at the court. the last cout fate i posted in that section the pics and no one complained so i didn't think there was a problem,but the mods have moved it anyways so its whatever.

I find it wierd that this hearing has recieved nearly no media attention at all.

Hopefull, the prelims will get some attention. Maybe it's just because Murray gets to keep his license and that's all that was really said.

yeah, i've always been fearing that. I don't have the video, but I remember Eddie Jones saying in his speech yesterday that someone from the last 2005 trial, that was involved with the case, is now in jail. But I forgot who he said it was. And he wants to make sure this case isn't tainted.

i find it strange that in his ruling he says he has no jurisdiction yet in the next breath says he may go back to it after the prelims happens. seems to me he doesnt want to do anything until and indictment is handed down
