MJ Fight For #1 W (Let's Make it #1 & Give MJ A new RECORD!) Please read updated post #234

Re: MJ fights for #1 w/sales btw 225k -250k first week (let's Make it #1 and give MJ a new RECORD!)

Controversy is a fan's thing. A lot of fans, including me, think it's real! But outside these forums, the internet, they don't know about that controversy! I let friends hear monster, they loved it (no michael jackson fans) and never thought about it not being him!

Well.... I really beg to disagree, Vlens. Most of the reviews mention the controversy and there are many people out there doubting these tracks.
Which is a shame. This shouldn't have happened at all. If they had any doubts, they should have leave those tracks out to have a clear picture of the matter.

BN was a very bad idea to lead the way for "Michael". HMH is beutiful, but it's weak as a first single. Hollywood tonight is great and controversy-free. In my personal opinion, that would do a great single. And they used it on Ellen, so maybe they are really thinking of using it :)

Let's face it: we don't need more controversy here. We need GOOD MUSIC THAT WE ALL KNOW IT'S 10000% MICHAEL JACKSON. And as long as they keep using the Cascio tracks, problems will arise. They really, really need to make a good choice for the second single soon and they must try their best to avoid controversy and try to unite fans behind a song. Cascio tracks will not achieve that, and we know it

I know what you mean! But almost all reviews i read have talked about controversy and said then that it really is MJ on the songs! That means alot. I live in Belgium and not one review i read talked about controversy!
I think people are focusing way to much on that jason malachi guy (in general)!

In my opinion, only people who listen to Michael jackson alot are noticing it.
I love Hollywood, but it misses something. I play the album constantly while working, and i don't notice HT when it's on sometimes, but monster i always want to get up and dance. I think we need that to reach a bigger audience!

But i do get what you mean. Too me monster is obviously MJ, but that doens't matter eventually

^I have to agree, while the reviews do mention the controversy, they end up saying that they DON'T believe all the "fan" talk about the tracks being FAKE. Why? Because there NOT...It's just not logical lol. What pisses me off is the people who keep spewing the "fake" garbage keep doing it with absolutely NOTHING to back it up. It’s just like those "haters" who go around calling Mike a pedo with absolutely nothing to back it up. Because of all the noise made by those fans, people now think the whole freaking album is fake. And I can bet that future projects will have this same controversy surrounding it now.

Re: MJ fights for #1 w/sales btw 225k -250k first week (let's Make it #1 and give MJ a new RECORD!)

One thing I have learned from the past year is not to get too hype up and set unrealistic expectation on any future posthumous release, both in terms of quality and sales.

If I put everything into perspective, the album is a very enjoyable album and the early performance estimate is respectful. But, how come I feel everything is so underwhelming? It's because of my own anticipation and high expectation.

We expect a new MJ era and Michaelmania at year end. It never happend. But, realistic speaking, how can there be a new MJ era anymore? How can there be Michaelmania when MTV is not even playing music videos anymore. The entertainment landscape is so different. People are more into reality program than good music. The kind of excitement that Michael ignited during his life will never be duplicated again.

We expect the album to top the chart and sell tons. It doesn't seem to happen. But, if the album sells 200K, it's not a flop. Acutally, it's a decent debut; given the fact that the only single released thus far is Hold My Hand. I don't think any other artist in this world can sell 200K copies in similar situation. So far the marketing campaign conducted by Sony hardly generates any interest in the album. Let say you are not a MJ fan, when you hear HMH or see the video of HMN on youtube, would you get goosebumps and say "wow... this is hot! i get to buy this album."

Last year, when people watched TII, people got goosebumps. I remember how the audience stayed till the very end and watched the whole ending credit, as if they didn't want to leave the theatre. People wanted to hold on to Michael. People gave the film a standing ovation.

I guess the difference between TII and MICHAEL is that in TII one can feel Michael's presence. However, in MICHAEL, it seems there is something that separates us from Michael. Just my opinion.

Thank you for this glimpse of positivity. It's most likely very, very true.

Re: MJ fights for #1 w/sales btw 225k -250k first week (let's Make it #1 and give MJ a new RECORD!)

I have a question and it's not about vocals. How was this album put together? I want to understand because you have Will I Am say it is disgusting to put out an album and Quincy Jones says it wasn't right because Michael didn't finish the album.

Were the songs like 80% finished and needed some tweaks here and there or the songs were like 20% finished and the others created something for it. Or was it a little of both? Where there any songs that were pretty much finished? I look in the booklet with the cd and Michael did write 8/10 songs by himself or with others.

Are some people's issues beyond the vocals and just the fact that Michael didn't finish the album like we are used to? Do people just want finished songs only? The reason I ask this is because I would like to know what is considered acceptable. I was not a fan of Elvis or John Lennon or Tupac. I don't dislike them just not a fan so i didn't pay attention to how their work was dealt with after they died. It's hard to know what to do anymore without Michael here to guide us. It's all different now and I feel like being pulled in different directions.:(

Here's a clue as to what you should do now:
You should just relax and enjoy the incredible music on the album
"Michael" by Michael Jackson. :punk:

I am trying:). There are certain songs I like to listen to over and over. Best Of Joy makes me feel happy. Adjusting to how things are now has been hard. I wish Michael was here.

I really hope that in the end it will become number at uk and usa!
If not, I don't think that it will be a good thing for the future of the legacy and for the future estate products.

thats the 64 million $ question. whether we will ever get a proper answer i dont know. instead of sony trying trying to act like it was a new album and that it was songs mj was working on and going to release b4 june 09 they would have been better of just releasing songs that were recored for other albums but never made the final cut. so at least we knew itwas 100% mjs work. but then the publicty of the "new" album is lost

Are some people's issues beyond the vocals and just the fact that Michael didn't finish the album like we are used to? Do people just want finished songs only?
i think that is an issue with alot of fans. its not mjs work so to speak. and when u have adlibs from earth song etc thrown into other songs. well even to me thats tacky.

Re: MJ fights for #1 w/sales btw 225k -250k first week (let's Make it #1 and give MJ a new RECORD!)

Well, #4 in the UK suggests that the Cascio problem has mattered, that Breaking News was a ridiculous move and Hold My Hand is too weak as a first single.

Michael needed to come back with a bang and the songs This Is It, Breaking News and Hold My Hand, just don't cut it, sorry.

Slave To The Rhythm, for example, would have surprised people. Hold My Hand is predictable and old, however much I like it.

Michael deserves better than this.

not that it matters but I'm listening to Morphine.......

Re: MJ fights for #1 w/sales btw 225k -250k first week (let's Make it #1 and give MJ a new RECORD!)

'Michael' is not an Michael Jackson record.....I love a few songs on the album that are standouts however Michael was in control of the creative department of his brand and business and with the release of 'Michael' it's very clear his insight is needed even down to the album cuts...

Nothing from here on out will be a Michael project with that reasoning but I don't intend to make my grief any worse by refusing to support projects that celebrate Michael N

Re: Hit: MJ will fight for #1 selling between 225k -250k first week

I am not hating on my beloved michael Jackson
This is not his album but an impersonators' dont confuse please

I am happy that Sony is not having what he wished simple as it is
You are hating on MJ's hard work. Just imagine him all excited in the studio, waiting to wow you, the fans with his great new stuff, to hear you guys talk about it like this.

Re: MJ fights for #1 w/sales btw 225k -250k first week (let's Make it #1 and give MJ a new RECORD!)

well if "Monster" is the next single, people are going 2snatch the album up guarenteed

Re: MJ fights for #1 w/sales btw 225k -250k first week (let's Make it #1 and give MJ a new RECORD!)

I thought the fake talk is only allowed in those 4 "debate" threads now.

Re: MJ fights for #1 w/sales btw 225k -250k first week (let's Make it #1 and give MJ a new RECORD!)

All of this needs to CALM DOWN, leave this thread for the sales and go to the 4 discussion threads on the tracks; jeez, it's getting tiresome and childish.

Re: MJ fights for #1 w/sales btw 225k -250k first week (let's Make it #1 and give MJ a new RECORD!)

You guys, we have been given 4 threads to discuss authenticity of records. That is the only place that this will be discussed. Please don't take this to other threads outside of those. Please do not do this. Can we respect the arrangements that Gaz has in place? Would that not create a more harmonious place?

Please understand that we are not trying to stop you from speaking your opinion, we are just asking that you post them in the proper places.

Thank you.

From here on out, any talk of authenticity in this thread, from either side, will be deemed off - topic and will not be allowed to stay.

Just read the start of this thread.

Some of you are so irrational and dramatic sometimes.......like really.

Its been obvious for weeks that people are against this album, why are you now shocked that people dont want it to do well? Dont twist it to make it seem like people are hating Michael himself, they wouldnt be here if they did.
