Who you find overrated and corny?

He can be a bit overbearing, but the way he puts his words together, regardless of what he's doing with them... I have to respect. I guess it depends on whether or not you think there's a creative way to bully someone

Pussycat Dolls
Eminem
Usher
Chris Brown
The Spice Girls
The Black Eyed Peas
Britney Spears

and i think i'm forgetting someone.....oh yeah! Will i am!

Will i am is an extreamly overrated producer. Nothing he's ever done has made me go completly ga-ga and most of the stuff i heard that he produced in the past just doesn't have any heart or soul in it (in my opinion). People say that he producers great dance and party songs but to me none of his music is really that danceable. Most of his music is just an autotuned, melodic-less mess with a loud beat

Prince playing instruments is of no bearing to Mike's talents. they are two different, incomparable artists

- i don't know what comparing them has to do with the fact that Prince's talents and major influence on worldwide artists/musicians/instrumentalists is no result of fortuity.

i'd love to hear your explanation of how timing and luck equalled Prince his long-term career?

This instrument argument always infuriates me. Because Michael is much closer to the best dancer and singer of all time than prince is instrumentalist. There are hundreds of thousands of musicians in this world in another league from prince. He can play a lot to a very very high standard, but so can thousands of other people.

I agree, and might I add...

Rihanna
Beyawnce
Ne-Yo
Chris Brown
Justin Timberlake
[+ all the other MJ wannabe's]
Katy Perry
Jennifer Lopez
Christina Aguilera (has a good voice but doesn't know how to use it)
Jonas Brothers
Miley Cyrus
Madonna (I know she has some fans here but I find her artistic abilities incredibly overrated, sorry)
Quincy Jones (takes/gets too much credit, esp. with regard to Michael)
Most American Idol/X Factor contestants
Avril Lavigne
Nelly Furtado
U2 (can't stand them)
Elvis (nice voice but boring and outdated songs, had little artistic impact on his own material)

I could go on forever  Nearly everyone that's currently in the top 40 shouldn't be there imo. I may sound like a bitter old lady lol, but I just can't listen to the radio anymore these days, nearly all the songs on there are trash :mello:

Lol @ Soulja boy. I agree he's overrated but I have to give him credit for lasting this long. I thought that ridiculous Superman song would be his one and only hit.

I agree with a lot of the artists posted recently, but I'd like to add Ke$ha to the list. She is horrible.

Elvis was pretty revolutionary for his time, even though he was just popularizing what african-american artists were already doing. However I really find his voice beautiful; he was just a guy who loved to sing. Even though I'm not religious, his gospel album is up there in my top listens. So I don't think he deserves the overrated label. But maybe that Vegas comeback white outfit does, haha! Oh Lord.

Lady Gaga
Katy Perry (Although I enjoy that new ET song a bit)
Bruno Mars (okay, he's is very talented but personally I can't stand his lyrics that make women's hearts melt. What's worse, his songs are catchy and stick in my head, annoying).

I don't really like Beyonce either as her women are amazing and men treat us right lyrics annoy me. Loved Destiny's child though, strange. Again, she is super talented. Just not my cuppa.

Lady Gaga.

Just a good (not great, good) singer. But she is not an original songwriter (in fact, he rips off a lot of songs from the 70s-80s-90s!) and her image is anything but original (Madonna, anyone?).

Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. They can't sing.
Lady Gaga too. She does have talent but the reason why she got so much attention is not because of her music but all of the gimmicks she made, which now really annoys me. Her music video kills her song now imo. There are too many things going on in every single scene and they give me headaches.

Basically every artist that plays on the radio these days is overrated. It'd be a much easier and smaller list to say what artists aren't overrated? So many are these days... Usher, Chris Brown, Britney Spears, Lady GaGa, Rihanna, Maroon 5, Nickelback, oh man.. Ke$ha or whoever, JLo, it's all horrible.

I never hear my favorite music on the radio and when I do it's an artist like Prince or Michael or David Bowie or the Beatles, of course. They play their hits on occasion, but it's not enough. The world really needs to get down on the good grooves and we need to be blasting music out of speakers day and night dancing in the streets.

 Agree, can't stand Miley Cyrus. No talent, whatsoever. if someone forced me to watch her show I think I would vomit.

50 Cent
Alicia Keys. I don't get what the big deal with her is-I watched her live performance at the Superbowl and didn't think she was all that good......
Kanye West
Will.i.am
Rihanna
Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, and all the other MJ wannabes
Eminem
Christina Aguilera
Britney Spears
the Jonas Brothers, Vanessa Hudgens and all the other Disney acts who think they can sing.
Paul McCartney (I love the Beatles but personally I don't think Paul's vocals are that great. He doesn't have that strong of a voice.)
Beyonce
Elvis
Soulja Boy :puke:
FloRida or whatever his name is
most other "artists" today. I am 17, but I don't even pay attention to the singers most people my age listen to now. I prefer to listen to real music.

Me too..thumbs up for u

Lady gaga
Kesha
Britney spears
J lo
Justin bieber
Katy perry
Rihanna
Emimen (what ever his name is)
Adele (she is Gud but not that Gud)
Mostly all today's artists. I'm 17 and I don't get the buzz

No one. They all deserve the success. All of them have millions of fans who appreciate theirs talent. But haters gonna hate anyway.

^True. Even untalented people like Kim Kardashian, etc. have fans. Just because someone has a lot of fans doesn't mean they have talent. They could be well-liked for other reasons, including their music/shows/etc. just being a passing fad, as they are most of the time. The one true test of fans' loyalty is time. Most people forget about stars, especially musicians, who come overnight, especially if those fans are young. Remember when the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus used to be everything to their fans? Well, in only a few years, they've moved on to Justin Bieber and Miranda Cosgrove, and in a few more they'll hold on to the next thing.

Lil Wayne
Jay Z
Jennifer Lopez
Nikki Manaj
Drake
Beyonce
P. diddy
Miley Cyrus
Justin Bieber
Flo Rida
T pain
Kim Kardashian
Oprah
Soldja Boy
Chris Brown
Rihanna

I think almost anything that you can hear on Radio 1 these days would count towards my list. Man, the last time I spent any time listening to that at work... just complete and utter dirge, sorry. I'm sure there were some gems to be found, but I just couldn't bear to listen for long enough.

The thing is, I actually really WANT to say Lady Gaga, but I just can't bring myself to. She's a definite, real talent... I just don't really go for her music that much, that's all.

^A lot of the artists we consider overrated are talented. No one would deny Eminem is a talented rapper/songwriter, Ke$ha is talented at songwriting, Alicia Keys is a good singer, etc. They're all real talents. However, overrated means they're held at a much higher esteem than their talents call for, not by a small group of deluded fans, but by the media, etc. Gaga definitely fits the bill in that department. Yes, she's a good singer, an able pianist, but so are many other musicians. The media sings praises about how "different" she is [apparently they've forgotten Madonna, Gwen Stefani, and other girls with good style] and how she's going to change the music industry [she has yet to do any of that, in fact, she's sticking to the status quo set by the mainstream industry to a T], and how she's the best singer, whatever else [there are far better singers/songwriters/musicians than she who do not get as much attention because they refuse to conform] in modern times.

These things are not exclusive to Gaga, of couse. Many of these things have been claimed of other singers, most of them have amounted up to nothing special thus far, or have completely evanesced from the music scene altogether. Very seldom does a musician rise to heights demanding legendary status, but of those who do, the difference between them and their 'peers' is more than costume-deep. It is evident in everything they do, not just in what they say or how they dress, words and clothes are shallow--actions mean everything, and where it matters, Gaga is no different/better than most of her contemporaries, so overrated she is indeed.

Does that mean she's not talented? No.
