Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor"

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

^I've already sent word to a few of those, will have to email the rest throughout the day. I'm sorry, but this documentary should not even exist. How could MSNBC in their right mind possibly contemplate airing such a sick piece of sh-t!? Especially since the guy was found guilty! NO ONE will say "poor Conrad Murray," especially when the theoretical maximum sentence itself is a joke compared to the crime. People get put away for far longer for stealing stuff!

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

This just shows how much work we still have, and how we'll always have stuff we have to fight against/for.

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

I cannot believe how he could make money from this. This is a convicted felon who killed someone, how is he making money!

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

@Indra: Sadly, yes. This shouldn't even be an issue. Hopefully this case will inspire some sort of Son of Sam-esque law in California. MSNBC claims neither Murray nor his attorneys profited from the doc. but I am not sure if I buy that. Can't think of any reason why they would do it. Is it curious they've released it now that there is a possible appeal in the works? Strange coincidence... sure it is not a coincidence, actually.

I'm not really sure what to think of all this, other than it is sick of Murray to even fathom doing anything like this. Then again, surprise surprise....

A qoute was posted from an advert shown in Aus. it was either posted in this thread or the one in the news section

I knew this was gonna happen. Basterds!!

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

^I saw the quote but until I see the source itself, that's all it will basically be, and I didn't get the sense he thought he was a molester from that, anyway. It did, however, sound like he was trying to say Michael was strange (evidently Flanagan's never met any of this country's many doll collectors, whose doll collections would far outnumber Michael's).

If true, however, it was pretty low of him to say that...but then again, it's in his best interest to make his client look good regardless of the facts, so it wouldn't exactly be surprising. Too bad for him he couldn't do that when it mattered--in the courtroom, mainly because you can't defend the indefensible.

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

Murray is free to profit from Michael's murder. Son of Sam laws are state-by-state, i.e. it's not a federal law. California struck down its Son of Sam law, prohibiting convicted criminals from profiting from the crime.

http://www.freedomforum.org/templates/document.asp?documentID=15773

There is an option, and I hope Judge Pastor takes it. He can order Murray to pay restitution to Michael's family. If so, then it's possible Murray will see little or no profits from this hideous documentary.

Some questions certainly come to mind. WHEN did Murray sign a contract with Zodiak Media Group? How long had he been working on this? Was he working on this BEFORE Michael died? Was it his intention to use "that audio tape" in the documentary? Are there OTHER similar audio tapes? In many states, it's illegal to tape someone without their knowledge and permission. Did Michael KNOW he was being taped?

Other questions: Over what time-frame was this filmed? Is NBC culpable for withholding information/evidence that could have been used in the trial? I.e., Murray's statements? Was the court AWARE of this material "in the can?" If not, why not?

We really should know the answers to these questions.

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

@Autumn. I agree. I'm not sure it is illegal to tape someone over the phone without their knowledge/consent, but perhaps it is, as that's how a lot of prank callers get in trouble when they upload their stuff online. Maybe JP can do what you said, then he won't profit from this. It's totally bizarre and depraved, but I think if anything Murray will exp. huge backlash from this doc. It is clear what he's after $$$$$.

Taping privacy laws vary from state-to-state. It appears that in California, Murray's taping of Michael was illegal. (see law in California, in the document below)

http://www.rcfp.org/taping/

Problem is, Michael is not here anymore and Murray could say he "gave consent." No way to disprove it.

A major concern is WHEN did NBC have this material? It seems as though this was evidence that could have been used in the trial. Did NBC CONCEAL this evidence? They may have broken the law, in holding evidence that could have been used in a murder trial.

Also, did Michael KNOW this was being planned/done? (I'd expect NOT). From that brief clip, it appears that Murray has broken HIPPA laws. I think for that one, it would take legal action by the family?

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

What happened to doctor/patient confidentiality? Surely the family can sue both the doc and the video makers? Worth thinking about.

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

^I haven't seen the doc, I've only heard about the snippet, and I didn't get that impression. Care to link me?

And my point regarding bringing his past comments on is that back when he could have inflicted some character damage and possibly skew prejudice by saying bad things about Michael, all he had to say was positive, so what is with the change? He didn't seem "sick" to him in July...

It's kind of contradictory, now that it's totally useless, to suddenly say that for this doc. And, like I said, this is MSNBC holding the footage, so I'm not sure their take can be entirely trusted. But, I'd like to see it if you have a more detailed source than what I have been exposed to thus far.

he said that after the judge , the prosecutors and the defense viewed all the footage of this is it and found NOTHING, not one single video to prove mj was showing signs of being on drugs , that happened after FLANAGAN told the judge the defense knew there were footage that would prove that particular claim. When their lie was exposed and after the judge was mad at the defense for wasting his time he told reporters mike was professional and even in his worst days he seemed energetic.

How about when Dr.Stienberg was under cross ,he testified he believed any rational person would not give concent to a doctor after being informed by that doctor on the dangers associated with propofol and after being told he would be left unmonitored while being on propofol, Flanagn asked him" do you think Michael Jackson was a rational man ?" the prosecutors had to object but clearly you can see what he wanted to say about MJ.

Maybe they can but the bigger question here is, will they bother to sue him? Murray's ramblings about Michael being an addict fits perfectly into the family's agenda.

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

This is disgraceful! I'm confused as to how this can even happen? All this was filmed while a criminal trial was pending...and how can Murray receive payment for it? He can never profit from this whole sorry mess again right? Now that he is a convicted felon. SMH.

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

They're claiming they didnt receive any money for this, the thing is Son of Sam isn't active in California anymore, it was struck down many years ago, so convicted felons are free to profit from their crime. But the issue here is that he's violated not only the doctor/patient confidentiality rights but IMO also judge Pastor's direct orders to keep his mouth shut during the trial, and this documentary was shot during the trial, partially, so he should be held into contempt. I wish they bring this matter up while sentencing. Another thing, I truly hope Judge Pastor sees this, I hope he takes this sociopath's actions into consideration at the sentencing.

I hope they pin all they can on him. His actions are beyond disgusting! What a sorry excuse for a human being.
Thanks for explaining.

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

they said he was not paid for the interview , but he for sure was paid for the documentary. It's a package deal. Remember when CBS had the rights to the special on Number ones but declined to air it after MJ was charged in 2003, they said they would air it only if MJ granted them an interview, the same happened here, " you want a deal, we want an interview" . Apparently he sold the footage for the documentary before he was convicted and probably made sure NBC would not be able to air it until the verdict's made public, he covered everything.

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

Murray had his chance to speak up during the trial but he chooses not to do so as he is a coward. He now wants to tell his side of story unchallenged when Michael cannot speak up any more? This is despicable and the channels that support this is trash! We fans must voice out and the estate and especially the Jackson must speak up. This is so wrong!!!!

Well it's been clear from the beginning the defence has been pulling stuff out of its ass to attempt defending the indefensible, but he still didn't have to say that. In any case, it's hard to say what he really thinks, and I reckon it's of secondary relevance since the main figure profiting from this so-called documentary is Murrat.

So, I've called MSNBC, been hung up on twice, but finally got through the third time. Will probably be tweeting into the night attempting to get this thing pulled.

I can believe it from Murray, he's already done the unthinkable, but despite their a--hattery, I am in awe MSNBC could be so heartless and disgusting. This is beyond outrage, and like someone said on another medium, had Casey Anthony or OJ made something along these lines, all Hell would have broken loose, and they were both acquitted! So, why is a guilty man able to profit off his murder with it all being okay? Double-standard much?

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

I just saw the clip and I am disturb. Murray is more looney then I orginally thought. He blames Alberto Alverez but, he himself had two cell phones and could have called 911 way before anyone else got there. How did the prosecutors or judge not know he was filming this thing when he had the camera's following him in side the courthouse? '

This was all planed from the begining no wonder so many think someone was out to get MJ. Then here comes the media as always with open arms ready to make the man that killed MJ look good. I am not surprise that NBC would pick this up. They had Victor Gutierrez working for their network during the 03 allegations a man who MJ sued and won a defamation claim over in connection with the 93 alleagations. HOW SICK!

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

is it illegal to talk patient, dr. relationship, what can the estate do, the courts should be able freeze the money.what about the HIPPA law.

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

this is outrages. can you imagine what the same media would say if Michael this kind of thing even BEFORE he was charged? and not even OJ was this stupid, coldhearted and greedy! this makes me sick!

interesting questions.

as far as NBC question goes - as long as Murray didn't confess to murder - and you know it's unlikely - I don't think it would be withholding evidence.

Problem is, Michael is not here anymore and Murray could say he "gave consent." No way to disprove it.

I always thought "he was drugged so he could not give consent" to be a valid argument. but it's a double edged sword, do we want an argument in court saying that Michael was drugged to the point of being incapable? Does it worth it?

A major concern is WHEN did NBC have this material? It seems as though this was evidence that could have been used in the trial. Did NBC CONCEAL this evidence? They may have broken the law, in holding evidence that could have been used in a murder trial.

I personally do not think it's a major concern - like I said above - as long as it didn't have a confession. Also as we have seen during the trial even the police interview is referred as "statement" and not "testimony". Therefore you can see that it wouldn't be absolute evidence.

And more importantly we won the case , we got a guilty verdict.

They're claiming they didnt receive any money for this, the thing is Son of Sam isn't active in California anymore, it was struck down many years ago, so convicted felons are free to profit from their crime.

families of the victims can still sue them. we can hope for Joe to get the money from him at his wrongful death lawsuit.

Can this be stopped at all?

Can't somebody sue this guy?

Yes, I believe it IS illegal!

can the Jacksons or the estate sue his butt of on behalf of the children?

his medical records was gotten by a subpoena - it might have became public record.

Re: MSNBC to air Conrad Murray Documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor" at 10 p.m. ET Friday Nov

imo our best bet now is Joe's wrongful death lawsuit.
