Re: Michael Jackson - Jackson Won't Sing At Grammys

Pointless him going unless he is going to do something or get awarded something

Watch it from home Mike

IMO...it is not pointless.. him being invited.. and begged.. to come .. speaks volume.. and having him there.. will also be great.. especially with everybody and their mama gushing all over him...

those celebs that will be there.. will probably appreciate his appearance more.. than fans.... any true artist.. got to give him respect.. they know what it took to reach the level he did.. and alot of them that will be there know that if it wasn't for him and his dedication .. over the last 40years... they would not be there themselves...

so please don't belittle this.. because he not doing what you want him to do.. he has reach a milestone.. in his life/career.. he has earned the right to pick/choose and refuse.. any appearance..

as for the Grammy people.. they are not like MTV..so I am sure they will be showing him the utmost respect..especially since 2 of his albums are being inducted...

Re: Michael Jackson - Jackson Won't Sing At Grammys

Still, Michael does not seem to feel jealous to "Thriller" success comparing to his later efforts.

This means that he may not consider performing, say, "Billie Jean" on Grammies as something questionable. If he will perform -- and such performance would be first ever Jackson's performance of this song on Grammies -- then this will be huge success and Michael will have better chances to go back to Grammy next year with performance to new songs (if he will release this year something new, of course).

However, it will be just very Michael Jackson's way to not perform and even maybe not appear on this year's Grammy. Though we can hope things will come as be opposite to that.

It seems like he has no actual plans to perform anything anywhere this time around.. :( That's kinda sad..

Re: Michael Jackson - Jackson Won't Sing At Grammys

it does sound like its kinda true...there were rumours about him doing thriller at world music awards, we all know what happened there..

he needs to give sommat to fans....

Give me a break. The guy spent 35 years giving everything he had to the world and look what he got back in return. He doesn't owe anyone anything.

Re: Grammy Performers: Beyonce, Foo Fighters...and Michael Jackson(rumor)?

Wow! SO much information/speculation being uncovered now.

In a way, I'm more inclined to steer towards a simple appearance rather than a performance. Don't get me wrong I would LOVE Michael to perform however I believe that it would ruin - as I said in earlier in the thread - any anticipation from the general public of Michael's official return to the stage w/new material. I applaud Michael's reluctance to perform as I believe he knows how to handle this burst of attention, however he is being very strategic in that he's not over-exposing himself before his proper return

I'd prefer Michael's comback performance to be something new an innovative. Not a re-visit of the past.. -_-

Very well said!

no he doesnt need to give NOTHING TO HIS FANS. what he needs to do is resting, having fun and enjoying his life with his kids. period.

You are completely right

Re: Grammy Performers: Beyonce, Foo Fighters...and Michael Jackson(rumor)?

Michael needs to come back to the stage in the best shape he can be in. On apparently such short notice for the Grammys, he'd feel trapped and unprepared. I'm thinking back to the WMA's 2006 and how the media gleefully ripped him apart afterward for nothing more than a rumor that they themselves started. They all pretended to be upset. But I could tell that underneath they were enjoying themselves and laughing at him. I seriously doubt that Michael wants to give them a chance to do that to him again.

I still predict he ain't gonna be there and if he is, cool, but if not, whatever, big whoop. Why perform 25-year-old songs with swagger jackers?

Re: Grammy Performers: Beyonce, Foo Fighters...and Michael Jackson(rumor)?

If MJ doesn't perform id be a little disappointed because the album is coming out next week and this would be the perfect time to perform and promote it. This is the Grammy Awards and everyone will be watching. Hopefully MJ is preparing performances for the brand new album.

If he still does not perform live with the new album, then i will start to worry that may be he is insecure about something or afraid of performing live now.

Plus need I remind all of y'all that it is still a:

R.U.M.O.R. that Mike would EVEN BE ATTENDING AT ALL? ;)

Thank you. I am tired of reading comments from fans about how they feel if MJ did not perform in the Grammys. Michael does not have to do a damn thing! I believe MJ should come there, enjoy the show, get his honor, go to the parties and HAVE FUN!!

Look at all of the things that has happened to MJ since that damning mockumentary back in 2003. Five years of bashing and hell and this year, 2008, FINALLY it is about the MUSIC! Let's enjoy this moment. Not a lot of people do a CD like Thriller, not a lot of people have two CDs that they did inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame, and not a lot of people can truly celebrate 25 years of a cd that changed everything regarding music entertainment. We are lucky enough to be fans of a great musician but all some of you fans do is COMPLAIN! Shut up! Damn! Who cares if he does not perform? It is not the end of the world.

Michael Jackson to Show His Face at Grammys?

Grammy Awards producer Ken Ehrlich on Sunday wants to mark the (feel old alert!) 25th anniversary of Thriller, but he's having some trouble getting Michael Jackson to fully participate. According to the New York Daily News, Ehrlich hoped to stage a musical revue featuring ***** as well as several guest artists from the album's star-studded Feb. 12 rerelease. MJ, though, "can't go along with that," says a source. "He needs more time to rehearse new versions of the songs [and] new choreography."

Instead, Ehrlich is said to have settled for having Jackson merely appear on stage, giving fans their first good look at the always-interesting-to-look-at singer in a while. *****, meanwhile, is said to be saving his next song-and-dance for a money-making TV special/concert series.

Basically, a "credible" magazine such as Tv Guide gets its news from the crappy NYDN.

Its his job to give to his fans! He doesnt get the most loyal support for doing nothing. If he needs to just rest and have fun etc etc he will announce retirement! Hes an entertainer, its his job!

Re: Grammy Performers: Beyonce, Foo Fighters...and Michael Jackson(rumor)?

It's his job to do whatever the hell he want to. I may not like some of the things he do but I ain't Michael Jackson.

Re: Grammy Performers: Beyonce, Foo Fighters...and Michael Jackson(rumor)?

HE WILL PERFORM for the new album, I have no doubt about that! Michael knows the best thing to do, so we all should stop acting like we know what he should/should not do!

Re: Grammy Performers: Beyonce, Foo Fighters...and Michael Jackson(rumor)?

It would have been nice to see MJ do a medley of Wannabe starting something, followed by the PYT (remix) with some brand new dance choreogrpahy and ending it with singing Human Nature Live. Maybe go down to the audience and start singing to Beyonce in the front row. he he

Re: Grammy Performers: Beyonce, Foo Fighters...and Michael Jackson(rumor)?

^ lol. That's pretty elaborate. But fudge the Beyonce thing. She can get ripped. All I wanted to see was MJ perform Billie Jean one last time.

Re: Grammy Performers: Beyonce, Foo Fighters...and Michael Jackson(rumor)?

Human Nature is the jam. I like when he sings it live in concert

Forget that, I rather see TINA!

Tina is the bomb! :punk:

Exactly! Look MJ will be performing when he is good and ready and honestly when the New album is out. Seriously T-25 is great to be honored and promoted but its not the whole focus on MJ's career plans at the mo. Hence he did the 'indirect' marketing with NRJ and Super Bowl ad etc. Its meant to get peeps ready for the New stuff.

I don't see MJ performing T-25 songs coz frankly why should he when he can have other artists do it. The thing to remember is that MJ knows how this industry works so he might show up and use the publicity for T-25 and his New stuff (without even performing). He also knows that when the New stuff comes out many more peeps will be interested to hear it and when he tours to see him perform also because they want to hear/see if he still can. So the suspension (of keeping folks waiting until he is good and ready) will work best if he doesn't perform at the last minute prep on Grammy's.

He doesn't want to give anyone a chance to diss etc and ruin his New projects by performing at Grammy to 25 year old songs. Lets face it no matter how great his perform would be some folks will still run with the 'it wasn't as good as in 1985 when he did it on Motown', or 'Jackson attempts to rescue his comeback by dancing to his 25 year old hit' etc etc So why even give these peeps a chance.

He knows what he is doing, no need to trip. :punk::punk:

So much for the concept of unconditional love.

I guess the 44 years he's already given isn't enough, right?

Re: Grammy Performers: Beyonce, Foo Fighters...and Michael Jackson(rumor)?

At least Michael Jackson is showing up on the event ? and that is great. In my opinion, I really dont want Michaels comeback to be him performing "Billie Jean" for the thousand time or some remix from the Thriller 25th annerversary album.

If he go onstage again then I want him to go onstage with new material.

Re: Grammy Performers: Beyonce, Foo Fighters...and Michael Jackson?

That b....ch has been reading fan boards, that is how she is guessing on his appearance. She has no other source but fanboards. She is speculation just like us. You bet she is buying her ticket for the show.

and she has been reading the Sony/BMG press release that was sent over a month ago that says there will be some tribute...

the Sony/BMG press release is the source we should be paying attention to...

Good points. But he does need to perform live for the new album at popular award shows. If he still does not perform with the new album, then we can't blame Sony this time.

Michael Jackson at the Grammy Awards: Gotta glove it!

Tuesday, February 5th 2008, 4:00 AM

Michael Jackson will appear on the 50th anniversary Grammy Awards show, we hear, but he has vowed not to perform.

The Gloved One appears to have won a stare-down with the Grammy-givers at the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. For weeks, show producer Ken Ehrlich has been mulling the idea of marking the 25th anniversary of Jackson's "Thriller" album with a revue that would feature guest stars from his rereleased blockbuster, which drops two days after the Feb. 10 broadcast.

The medley number would include Will.i.am (on "The Girl Is Mine"), Fergie (on "Beat It"), and possibly Kanye West (on "Billie Jean") and Akon (on "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'").

Ehrlich said he'd do the tribute only if Jackson sang and danced, say insiders. "Michael can't go along with that," says a source. "He needs more time to rehearse new versions of the songs. And everything requires new choreography."

Now, we hear, Ehrlich has agreed to having Jackson just appear onstage - apparently believing viewers will tune in just to see what Jackson looks like now.

Grammy reps and Jackson spokeswoman Lois Najarian didn't get back to us. But word is Jackson is saving his moves for a show where he'll make some money - a "Thriller" TV special and a series of concerts.

I don't really trust the Daily News though, it's a tabloidy newspaper. not as bad as the Post but not exactly the NY Times either lol
