Lady Gaga's new song Born This Way, *Update Post 164*

Re: Lady Gaga's new song Born This Way, hear it here first

The egg idea is brilliant. But I can see so much Madonna this time in her hair and dance. It's like 1992 Madonna modernized.

Re: Lady Gaga's new song Born This Way, hear it here first

Ok i'll change that form idiot to idiotic. That ok? I found the fact that she arrived in an egg completely ridiculous. Humans don't hatch out of eggs ffs! Real women give birth to them. Gaga is a disgrace to the female race in my opinion. She has no self respect and as the poster above said she is just like all the other female popstars that use sex, vulgarity and their bodies to sell their music. Shouting about having a big cock and telling her audience to get their dicks out, she disgusts me. I shudder to think what the video to 'born this way' will be like. Yuk

Where did she say to get our dicks out? In the new song?

Re: Lady Gaga's new song Born This Way, hear it here first

She says that between songs during her concerts. I saw it on youtube recently. When i think that there are people out there that bring their young teens to her concerts it just makes me sick.

Re: Lady Gaga's new song Born This Way, hear it here first

I think that the people who lived in the 80s would tell us the popularity that lady gaga has today can be measured with that that Michael had in the 80s.It's imense and it's unstoppable The girl is smart, talented and she is going to own this century with her music, fashion style etc. She a phenomenon and she acived that by taking musical and fashion styles from different artist and eras, incorporated them and presented them as her own.
You can either love her or hate her but you can not ignore her. I say give the girl the space to create and present to the world what she has to give.
As for the new song, it's catchy and it remind me that of madonnas. I think that the song was a deliberate move so everybody would talk about it and her (And she did it, we are talking about her) And as for the album, i think it's going to be amazing. The first song was just to warm up her fans (who i think are very lucky bastards :) and i envy them e bit)

Re: Lady Gaga's new song Born This Way, hear it here first

Decade perhaps....century is taking it a little far don't you think?

Well, yes i like to exaggerate so people will read my comment :).But the fact remains that she owns this decate and she is going to have a very long and succesful career. It's my feeling.I may be wrong but time will tell. And this comes from someone who is not a particular fan of hers, just an observer of the situation. The fact that we can not stop talking about this girl is a proof of that.

It's too premature to compare Lady Gaga's popularity to the one Michael held in the 80's.

Michael was not a one-album-wonder. I'm not saying Lady Gaga is. But, she still hasn't established herself as an artist who has staying power. Will she still be relevant five years from now?

I was a teenager in the 90's. The type of hype that Lady Gaga enjoys now is more like the one enjoyed by the Spice Girls, than Madonna's or Michael's.

Re: Lady Gaga's new song Born This Way, hear it here first

My thing is if she continues to do things and people always think of Madonna how is that a good thing in the long run? I see Katy Perry and Rihanna and I don't think of someone else. Seeing her in an egg looks a little creepy to me to be honest. I understand getting attention but sometimes it can be too much for people.

Re: Lady Gaga's new song Born This Way, hear it here first

It's unbelievable the reactions Gaga is stirring up in people. That in itself is very much like Madonna. She'll never replace the QoP and doubtfully will ever enter her 4th decade in the business like M, BUT, she is well on her way to a long and prosperous career. I haven't experienced this kind of heat in such a looooooooooooong time. Gaga is really doing this thing right. It's amazing how well she's playing her cards and the girls drive is out of this world. The emotions she's creating in people is out of this world. Don't believe me, read this topic. The responses are all over the map. Some love her, others are indifferent and even the haters are a good thing because it means they care and she's doing her job. To hate is to give passion and credibility to the artist in question. All I gotta say is that I'm enjoying the show and can't wait to see what Lady Gaga does next. Very exciting!

As for Gaga's performance, it was very solid and the entrance was hilarious. Who else but Gaga? LOL! Gaga is easily one of the best live singers out there today and her dancing was better than usual. All in all I give her a thumbs up. I'm not sure the new song is as good as her past singles, but it's definitely catchy and is growing on me. We'll see. I probably should be mad that she's ripping on Madonna's image and sound, but for some reason it doesn't bother me that much. I doubt Madonna minds either. I guess it could be seen an homage to the Queen, but then again... she basically attributed the song to Whitney Houston (while accepting a Grammy) which was a head scratching moment. I'm thinking she did that purposely to throw everyone off the trail. Dunno.

Re: Lady Gaga's new song Born This Way, hear it here first

Good lyrics, but that beat just puts me off. It sounds like every other beat going around. Yet I liked Bad Romance which was pretty damn good.

The egg is genius. You gotta be different to everyone else and why not an egg. If you wanna come to an awards show in an egg, you damn well come in an egg. Yes, Madonna's done similar things before and Bjork's turned up in a swan dress but that wasn't recently - at least she's doing something innovative unlike Rhianna and Kesha.

I agree with Travis. I'm intrigued to see what she does next that's just out of this world. Someone who's not afraid to take risks in their art....I like that. She'll be relevant in 10 years time; hell come 20 she will be - she's gonna take the music world somewhere it's been missing for 20 years and people actually caring.

Oh and happy easter to you all:

I don't think you could measure Germanotta's present popularity with anything Michael had. The two are forever divorced, with Michael being the actual artist. He contributed all sorts of original concepts, and was in word and deed a true revolutionary. Germanotta, on the other hand, is just a cheap copy of things we've all seen before, and if people are intelligent, they'll get bored quickly and move on.

She (or rather, whoever is in charge of her PR) is smart in the brilliant manipulation of a bunch of impressionable pedestrians, yes. May as well milk it for all it's worth while the getting is good, because in a few years, the next stupid thing will come to replace her. Yes, I would say that's pretty smart, and I can't say I wouldn't do the same if I was a thoroughly ordinary person with mediocre talent and a good PR person.

As for owning anything--it's a bit too early to tell, no? Century? Not a chance in the world. Decade? It depends--there's plenty if impressionable idiots in the world with too much time and money on their hands, so that's perhaps likely.

Indeed. That also happens to be my opinion on mosquitoes. We should start giving them grammy's too, after all, we wouldn't want them to feel left out.

Well, some of her songs are catchy. I dislike the new song, however, for reasons I have already stated in previous posts.

Why are her fans lucky bastards? If anything, they're quite unlucky--the lot of them are, as evidence shows, easily impressed and manipulated. I daresay it's quite the opposite. I'd like to at least put up a bit of a fight before I throw my money away on useless crap. :p

I do exatcly what some of you said it can"t be done....I ignore her.
I came here only to tell you that. :)

Funny isn't it? I have heard music critics claiming the same thing about Mike. That he contributed nothing to the music world while simultaneously praising l.gaga for being an innovative force who revolusionased music industry. Now that i think of it i have heard some of Mike's fan claiming the same thing. Strange indeed. I obviously don't agree with the first one and it is amazing to me how quickly people forget. ( ok that was a bit out of topic but i wanted to say it)Anyway,I continue to believe that her popularity is immense. Can someone compare it to Mike's during the 80s? Yes, thanks to internet. As for your observation that she is a " cheap copy of things we've all seen before", i think she is copying from the best or better from the most successful and that's why the final product is so appealing.

She is just the right person at the right time.I personally believe that she represents the majority of youth attitude and mentality today but in the most extreme form. (Parting, sex, self- assertion, obsession with clothes, make up, this kind of superficial??? things.) After all she is an artist and she has to be extreme in order to impress and then sell. She obviously is aware of what people want and she is giving it to them. Good time and nothing more. Nothing wrong with that.

As for owning anything--it's a bit too early to tell, no? Century? Not a chance in the world. Decade? It depends--there's plenty if impressionable idiots in the world with too much time and money on their hands, so that's perhaps likely.

I may have rushed to speak about her owning the music field of this century or even this decade because ,according to Maya and Nostradamus, 2012 is the year that the world will end. We just have to wait and see. Until then we can all party like there's no tomorrow with lady gaga of course :) Thank God there is Lady gaga and her egg.

?hey are lucky because the person that they admire is alive, enjoying the world's estimate and respect, while the person that i admire is buried in a cold tomb, ridiculed, crucified and questioned by everyone till the last breath of his life.

The songs OK..........by that's about it...........

it's not original.......but these days only crap sells!!!!!!!

The talented ones are usually the ones who are never promoted and so they never make any money or have any real success...........sad but true!!

Re: Lady Gaga's new song Born This Way, hear it here first

I can't compare Gaga and Michael. Michael didn't become famous with Thriller. He was a star before then. He was in the business a long time before Thriller came. I don't agree that she is revolutionizing or changing the industry. I think the music industry is in trouble. I don't hate her or anything like that. I just don't see what others seem to see.

I do admit I envy her fans. At least Lady Gaga is still here. I wish Michael was here.

You know what, I'm not even going to dignify this with a thorough reply. There's really nothing to say, because the sum of your argument is centered around your opinion. That 2012 thing just made me go "..." and the fact that you suggested we should pray with Germanotta....just no.

Why should Gaga be compared to MJ at all? Who is doing that and why? How is it even applicable? The only people I see doing all the comparisons are the people posting here. I really don't understand the fans around here sometimes. Do y'all not realize that it makes you look envious and threatened? Not everything is about MJ. We can discuss other artists without name dropping. No one is comparing Lady Gaga to Michael Jackson. The media compares Gaga to Madonna. Come on now, y'all.

Oh please, that egg grammy arrival thing is exactly what I'm talking about. I find that kind of thing such a turn off. Attention grabber. Couldn't stand them in school, still can't stand them now. I'll take a humble heart anyday.

I'm sorry, but you need to watch your mouth. I can tell you're intelligent and like you just fine but you are being very disrespectful to a lot of different people. I don't care if you like Gaga or not, but stop calling her fans names. We are not gullible, stupid, sheep or any other derogatory term that you can come up with. You are very clearly threatened by Lady Gaga. You'll deny it and come back at me with some novel length nonsense about how you're not, but it's very obvious by the statements you have already made. Again, I do not care one tiny bit if you hate Gaga, love her, or are entirely indifferent. That's not the issue here. What you need to do is watch your tongue and and be more respectful of your peers. Ain't nobody comparing Gaga to Michael Jackson. Well, at least not anyone outside of this forum. This BS is making us MJ fans look bad. I just hope it stays within our community and doesn't break out. I don't want anyone seeing this foolishness.

I don't believe her popularity, or better yet, her current status can be measured with MJ's. I know I'm about to sound all mystical here, but whatever MJ possesed, it surpassed talent, charisma, magnetism, style, and even presence. There was something indeed indefinable about him, his appeal crossing EVERY age demographic, socio economic status, music preference, race, culture, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Lady Gaga is definitely enjoying a "heyday" now. But two decades after MJ's so called heyday, allegations, and a debilitating criminal trial, he was still mobbed by fans as if it was the '80's. His bodyguard said protecting him was like protecting the president. When he died, people who hadn't even thought about him in years were affected, and were perplexed as to why they were. MJ seemed to connect us and connect with us on levels beyond any presentation he gave on a stage or statement being made with a costume.

Barry Gordy said, and I really believe it's true, an artist like MJ doesn't come along once in a decade, a generation, or a lifetime. He was an artist who comes along only once, period.

Lady Gaga is good, even great, even an IMMENSELY popular phenomenon. But MJ was much more than all that.

Re: Lady Gaga's new song Born This Way, hear it here first

Guys cool it. This is not about Michael fans vs Gaga fans. Have a debate but do not call each other names.

Exactly. That's the point I'm trying to get across. It doesn't make one lick of sense for anyone to mention MJ in this topic. They are two different animals and the fact that our Michael is being brought in to play shows a real lack of confidence. It's silly. No need to feel threatened. They'll deny it, but that's exactly what's going on.

Now can we get back on topic? Thanks.

A lot of people get compared to Michael. Success wise and popularity etc by the media too. He set high standard in the music business. In the media they say who is the next Michael Jackson? She is a female but she is huge right now. The only thing I feel envy about that her fans still her while us fans don't have Michael here anymore. I wish he was still here. I don't mean to offend anyone. That was I was trying to mean.

I think I mentioned in one of my posts that those remarks weren't directed at every Germanotta fan. I said there's nothing wrong with liking her [or anyone else] at a healthy degree. The behaviour becomes a problem when reason is thrown out the window and replaced with some sort of maniacal worship--then, yes, by all means, that sort of behaviour is stupid and the people who act in such a way are nothing but sheep. If you don't fit that description, you have nothing to feel offended about. I'm sorry, but you need to read my statements before you accuse me of doing something I didn't do.

I already voiced my problem with Germanotta--pretending to represent misfits while glorifying all that is presently upheld by society. It's a slap in the face, and quite disrespectful of her. In any case, I'm not the type of person to feel "threatened." By god, I read the Marquis de Sade [now there's someone shocking and revolutionary], I am well-educated and cultured, thus above feeling 'threatened' by such a pedestrian diversion.

I've disrespected no one. I've only told the truth. Like I said in an earlier post of mine, my criticisms are targeted at Germanotta and those 'hardcore' fans who are truly delusional in their quasi-worship of her. Perhaps if you actually bothered to follow the sequence of my posts, they wouldn't sound like "nonsense" to you.

Good day.

Musically speaking she's somewhat untouchable right now. MJ fans are always defending Michael against her when there's no real need to :(
