Who's a little Monster? :D

Lets talk Gaga!

I've been enjoying her music for a while and I have only just got round to purchasing her first album.. Still haven't got the new one but shall be soon

Gaga fan here. It's funny actually, because there are more songs of hers that I don't like than ones I actually like, but she entertains me to no end. I love her voice. She's a brilliant performer. I really like "Hair," "Americano" and "You and I" from the new album.

^ She is just one of those artists that so captivating.. That's a great artist to me. :)

I enjoy her music, my favourite songs of hers are Poker Face, Monster, Starstruck and Judas. I also like the fact that she is influenced by Michael.

I love her. She's the only female artist to come along since Madonna to make pop music exciting and unpredictable. She's talented, and unbeleivably fantastic live performer and such a talented vocalist. Born This Way showcases that off much more than previous albums.

P.S. Thank you to the mods for making this thread possible. Friendly talk is awesome!

You know...When I first heard Edge of Glory..I hated it....

Now, I'm totally hooked! lol Her music is just too damn catchy haha...And I just love the video! :D There's not much to it, but there's a whole lot of heart in it....The way she dances on the balcony, the staircase, the streets....This song makes me wanna do that, too! I'm such a cornball

I haven't heard a song of hers yet that I don't like...

but clarence clemons just passed away. the video's more bittersweet now :(

I'm the same on Edge of Glory, its really grown on me! Catchy song, along with Born This Way. The lady knows how to make songs with good hooks!

^^ Yup! I'm also loving 'Marry the Night' and 'Electric Chapel'...This album is actually pretty great...

Yep! I also really love "Bloody Mary" and "Bad Kids". Fantastic!

Bad Kids is great too! (the beginning of that one sounds like from TDCAU `We don`t care what people say, we know the truth! Enough is enough of this horse..sh.....`...

I haven't listened to Bloody Mary, yet....I'll listen right now...

I love the 80s feel to this album....I've been in an 80s mood for a while now, so this album is perfect lol...

EDIT: Yes, I have listened to Bloody Mary....It's a grower for me...But, it is good :D

Agree with everything u just said!:)

no it was a wig cap i believe, her real hair was hidden underneath, she certainly knows how to create an image for herself and keep people interested, i see alot of Madonna and Michael influencing her, her connection with her fans is certainly reminisant of Michaels, if only he was around when twitter caught on! lol

she is doing great and her career has skyrocketed the last year and a half! hope she stays well rested in the hectic scheduling though!

I'm no huge fan, but she is probably the best pop star we've had since the magic Michael & Madonna hey-days.

That's how I feel. She's of course no where close to being either of those iconic megastars, but she's definitely brought the most to the table since them. Gaga has helped make pop music interesting again.

Had to have known this was coming... I love Weird Al! lol

Ya know, as much as I love Gaga, her fan base is starting to get on my nerves. They over glorify her to no end! Rollingstone created a questionable list for the "Queen of Pop" title and it only dates back to 2009 (for some strange reason) and so many artists are left out of the fold. No Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Madonna, etc. Artists who have released albums from 2009 - present have their numbers crunched. Gaga of course comes out on top and her fans are saying this is final proof of her Queen status and that Madonna has been replaced. Forget the fact that Gaga is nowhere close to the iconic status of Madonna and her accomplishments. That whole mentality pisses me off! Our youth has no knowledge of pop music and culture history. They literally are saying at a Gaga board I visit that Michael and Madonna aren't the Kings and Queens anymore and couldn't have remained so forever. UM, YES THEY CAN! Legends like MJ and Madonna can't be replaced. They are eternal. Gaga fans are already calling her a legend and I think that is just so premature and foolish. No one knows what will become of her. Gaga could be gone in a couple of years time or she could end up being the next best thing since Madonna. Who knows? So, as much as I really do love Gaga, I can't handle this garbage. Ugh!

I know what you mean...I enjoy Gaga's music, she's grown on me much more lately....I just think a lot of her fans are so young they don't realize how unoriginal she actually is... Don't get me wrong, she's unique, but not as much as people like to classify her as...I don't know why people are so keen on trying to replace MJ and Madonna for iconic status...Why? It's like, slow the fuck down, son!...lol....They've earned it and it's set in stone. Gaga has a long way to go to reach that status, and I really don't even think she WILL reach that status...She hasn't broken any barriers, and she hasn't shown any innovation....She's got great dance tunes, a great voice, and interesting videos that I dont' really enjoy hahahaha, but she's intriguing and eye catching...But I don't see a lot more depth to her as an artist...

I agree with you. And see, this is what I got in to an argument about in the Gaga thread before. People assumed that we couldn't critique Gaga and that's not what I had a problem with - it was with a particular person who was being vicious. What we are doing here is nothing like that. Just wanted to point that out. I agree with everything you said and yet I still really enjoy Gaga. I think she's a very talented young woman with lots of potential, but as to whether or not she'll become anything more... That remains to be seen. She certainly isn't the Queen of anything or a legend over night. That's such a slap in the face to so many who earned their spot in a day and age where fame wasn't as easy as making a sex tape.

:agree:

even gaga herself rejects any label of her as an 'icon'- she's said a few times something like 'i need 10 more albums before i can be called an icon' and is very flattered whenever she's compared to madonna.

True. It's just her fans that need to chill out and stop proclaiming her to the second coming of Christ.

As much as I don't like to infringe upon appreciation threads for musicians I don't particularly care for either way, I did once upon a time tell you an interesting tidbit about Gaga's fan base, and it seems as though you have discovered its truth on your own. Of course, not all her fans are like that, there are some who actually do have a decent schooling in mainstream music history, however, the ones who are utterly ignorant and glorify her as some goddess fit to replace Madonna et al compose a very vocal and annoying percentage of her fan base.
