Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

The Grammy's haven't done anything for Michael for a long, long time and have basically snubbed him. So he isn't at all obligated, nor should he waste a performance on them. What would be the point of showing up? They're just doing some half-assed tribute, like they always do. He's going to be there for 4 hours for that? I don't think so. Sending a video will get Michael the same amount of exposure and give the same message as him showing up in person. It will get the word out about Thriller 25 and let the public get a look at Michael.

The point would be to promote himself and improve his image BEFORE the brand new album release. That's more important than anything else. But secondly to promote Thriller 25.

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

How many of us have the T25 songs in its original version in 10 different CDs. It's a remixed/remastered whatever album...I would rather have Michael not dedicate too much attention to it -- like attending the grammy's especially when he isn't performing to sit their and watch things unfurl. It would give the impression that he's still riding on the success of his past attempts. Maybe he can spend that time he would have spent at the grammies...enjoying some chilled out time at home or working on something he has to get done. I can't remember the last time I watched the grammy awards in full...its prestige, interest and glamour has worn off for me and I suspect it has for others as well.

Stop making all this an excuse to lament over Michael's intentions and career progression over the years. It's like even if he attempts do to something it's casted a not enough or failure. If we can't give MJ the benefit of the doubt then who the hell can?

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

Attending the Grammy Awards won't be an image boost in the least bit...it would be yet another award highlighting the value of a past attempt (Thriller) like those many lifetime achievemt awards, legend awards, artist of the century, decade, millennium awards. I say Mike stay at home -- do what you have to do -- maybe accept the induction and thank the performers/tribute performers to show appreciation and that should be enough.

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

Let the man do what he wants. Who are we to tell him what to do? It's just Thriller 25 not the new album and if he doesn't want to appear just to satisfy our selfishness it's his choice...he is the master of himself and his work!

Good post i soo agree with what you said i never expected him to go to the Grammys ever since this Rumour started but its nice hes sending a video

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

we still dont know if this person is telling the truth........ we haven't actually got it onfirmed officially......

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

Thrillercast never said that.

What Thrillercast said is the Grammy in 1984

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

Aw.... Why is MJ not performing at the Grammy's? Or at anything around this time- to promote Thriller 25? He is missing out on a big opportunity

I'm soooo disappointed. C'mon Michael....

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

Remember, if he performs at this grammy he can't perform at the next one when he actually has a new album maybe.

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

Um, people, who ever called this a "comeback"? It's a feakin' 25 year old album which has been re-issued god knows how many times. He goes to Japan to make some quick and easy money? What do you think this is? lol. This isn't a new album, this isn't a comeback attempt, this isn't anything major other then an anniversary re-issuing of the biggest selling album of all time. Like I said, it's not going to make some massive impact in the already outragous sales figures, whether he "promotes it" or not. Him and Sony are no doubt just trying to make some cash off of it and test the waters to gage the public reaction to Michael at the moment. That's ALL this is, and I don't know where anyone got the inkling that this was somehow Michael's explosion back on to the world stage. Touring, performing, videos, etc... All of that will ONLY come with a new project and new material. I don't understand why anyone would think otherwise.

completely agree with this post!:D

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

Didn't the Thrillercast say MJ would be interviewed at the Grammys?

No it did NOT say that.
It was refering to a past interview
.................................................................................

T-25 is not a comeback Album
there is no need for MJ to appear to promote it
He will appear when he has his Own Material to promote

Attending the Grammy's is not going to be a boost to
his carreer if he has no NEW material - it will just be
more for the tabliods to attck him for .. fans just want
him there for selfish reasons - nothing to do with what
is best but just becuase they want to see him ...

Be patient and wait so you can see him in ALL his GLORY
when he does come back to the stage NOT to just promote
a RE-release ... of Thriller

T-25 is going to to go great - Its a re-release and is already
a hit before its RE_ release ..

Fans are selfish to bash Michael just becuase he doesn't
follow there every demand or whim ... Michael knows
how to promote himself - and when he comes back it will
be with a BANG - not to comeback exepting an award
but with NEW material ..

Cant believe the fans who BASH Michael in here
but then again I notice its the same ones in other
threads ..

Michael is NOT going to perform for a re-release
He will perform when he has his NEW material to
offer ..

Your lamo comment are just feeding the tabloids
to continue to bash him - for NO reason .. Some
SO CALLED fans are worse then the tabloids
are worse then the tabloids

You dont own Michael he is NOT your "private dancer"
n***er or slave ... to do your SELFISH bidding.

He will appear when he has something to offer.
I have faith in him and his abilities to do what is best ..
for his carreer and the music.

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

i was thinking of him doing that yesterday and thought to post it but i didnt.
i thought there was gonna be no performance no attendance but only a video message
thats for the best imo.
WE LOVE YOU MICHAEL!!!!
and yes i rather have him being "lazy" as some of u said than working his ass off

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

If this is true I have to say I don't see the point of it. He's in the US, he's not touring or performing elsewhere, so why can't he attend? It makes it seem like he's afraid to or something. I don't understand why he won't promote Thriller 25. I would understand it if he didn't like it, but he was involved in the project so that makes no sense. I'm not saying MJ is obligated to attend the Grammys or do anything, but if makes me wonder about how committed he is to this comeback.

Somebody needs to quit being a drama queen, when the man is ready to promote NEW material he will, for the love of God promoting a 25 year old album isn't that serious!

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

So he's not gonna perform at the Grammy's. BIG DEAL!

I say let Michael's COMEBACK performance be attached to a NEW PROJECT.

I say again, let the COMEBACK performance, his FIRST performance in a dog's age, let it be built around his NEW PROJECT. In my opinion, THAT type of performance will have a much better effect.

Let his COMEBACK performance be about HIM and ONLY HIM, not a 8-10 minute segment on an awards show, which will feature a bunch of other acts.

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

the speech (IF THIS RUMOUR IS TRUE) is props hall of fame related. why are people forgetting? heck, he might just go "buy my thriller 25 tomorrow".. who knows.
P.S. he HAS been snubbed. Grammys 88 he had 5 #1 singles and the second biggest album EVER (at the time, second to Thriller) He SHOULD have cleaned up in 88. He even performed for them. And didnt get any recognition. Not a single trophy.
Why did they snub him?
i remember when there was a poll for the Top 10 Grammy performance, he came on no 6 and his clip was shown for a split seconds while the rests are shown in full or longer. why?

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

This thread will be merged with the Grammy thread already started.

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

why are ppl presuming this info is true anyway. and maybe MJ doesnt give a flying feck about thriller 25.some of you dont seem to even acknowledge the possibility of that. then again some of you think this is the actual comeback

Re: Grammys: MJ Sending Acceptance Video

Maybe if he doesn't show up its because of this.............

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Geneva, Ari]February 06, 2008. Looks like there will be two less R&B stars at this Sunday's Grammy Awards. MediaTakeOut.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned that neither Janet Jackson nor Mary J Blige will attend the awards show. And their boycott has nothing to do with the writer's strike.

A person in Mary J Blige's camp confirmed to MediaTakeOut.com that the R&B queen was NOT invited to perform at the Grammys and will therefore NOT be attending the show.

And Janet's camp had a similar complaint. An insider told MediaTakeOut.com, "[The organizers] are specifically preventing Janet from performing at the event ... That's despite an overwhelming response from music fans worldwide."
