Quincy Jones and Michael. . . What's Q's problem?

This is too stupid to be true. Or then Quincy is smoking something...

gosh i hope this is a misquote or something :(

I read the El País article and I am fully bilingual in both English and Spanish.

It's exactly what was translated here in the thread.

Douchebag with wrinkles and a tan = Quincy

This is really the last thing i ever expected. I read about that he also didn't believe Mike wanted to be black and didn't believe in his skin disease....Is that true too then?

Lol guys let not bash him. We can hate him for what he said but you got to admit he was a good producer. And I think he could have possibly changed his mind abut michael since he went to the funeral. And you got to remember he's old school

I'm not bashing Quincy. But if this El Pais article isn't fake and the interview was done after Michael's death, I don't see why he can't keep Michael's name out his mouth. It shows that he's extremely bitter even though Mike is dead. Plus it was mentioned in the other thread that Quincy was talking smack about MJ's kids after MJ's death.

All this after Q was on MSNBC after Mike died saying Mike was like a little brother to him.

Quincy Jones = Harvey Dent.

Anyone can see that Michael Jackson had all the talent in the world. Whatever they think about him, some people belive he was a paedophile and still give it to him that he was one of the most talented people to ever live.

I saw the interview on Youtube. Yes, he said that. He even went into questioning the paternity of MJs kids - yet Quincy has kids that look very Caucasian. It was the same interview where he said he was tired of going to friend's funerals and would not attend Michael's.

And no one questions Quincy's kids if they came from a black father - so who the HELL is Quincy to question MJs kids?

Message to QUincy: Stop mixing the weed & Viagra. Please.

And yes, Quincy, you owe Michael a LOT. That's how you paid child support for 8-9 kids you've had.

So stop your shit, old man.

I don't understand why he'd say something like that. I mean, even if he thought so, he shouldn't say so (by the way, he said he wasn't as talented as the other people he named, not that he wasn't talented).

I actually find his alleged comments about Michael not wanting to be black far worse.
In this interview (from the Spanish newspaper El Pais) the journalist asks him if he said that and he says that he refuses to talk about that. So he doesn't deny it.

This ONE article that people don't even know is true is in direct contrast to OTHER things Q has said multiple other times that we know is true.

I can only hope that something was lost in translation cuz otherwise, old man Q, is out of his doggone mind! Hell, MJ was the the last of the great musical talents as far as I'm concerned. Q better see a doctor cuz there is medicine nowadays that can treat Alzheimer's.

EL País is a serious nespaper. I just don't see them making something up like that.

Why don't you ask Mr. Jones instead of starting a thread about it that he'll never see? He has a Myspace, lol.

Q was in Canada recently and was trying to get all the credit for Michael Jackson's off the wall, thriller and bad Albums, I've seen the footage of him talking about it. He was basically dissing mike and motown all of mike's previous work> He says about She's out of my life that mike's most emotional, mature piece of work previously had been about a pet rat so that basically the depth of emotion on such records was due to him and not Mike. He is basically just trying to make himself look good and every opportunity and claim the credit for Mike's Greatness. When he dies I can tell you the world will not mourn for him the way they did Mike nd Q knows this for a fact.

On the rolling Stone MJ tribute magazine that was a disaster (Because they Sh*ttng on MJ's work from bad on and his videos after thriller including his skin didsease) Q says something like MJ had nothing to do with the success of thriller it was the people behind it!

LMAO...I think Q smokes GAS!

LOL! Huh?

Thanks to everyone for their opinions.

In all honesty, I don't want to spread the negativity. El Pais is not a tabloid publication. It's a legitimate online spanish newspaper. I used it as a source for my studies many times.

So, I sort of have this theory that Quincy is angry at Michael for 'allowing' his personal life to overshadow his/their musical achievements (at least while Michael was still alive). Quincy and Michael are forever going to be linked because of the success of Thriller.

I too believe that Quincy wants to take the credit for Michael's immense success. But luckily, there are so many other producers, engineers, songwriters and respectable artists out there that have testified that Michael is truly a musical genius.

My beef with Quincy is that people think of him as a genius, legendary, a respectable voice in the music industry. So when he says stuff like this, people are gonna be like 'What?!?' and it's gonna get attention.

Anyways, thanks to everyone again for their opinions.

I was jus' having sum fun.

On the reel though, and I may be trippin' but does Quincy only talk mess when it comes to foreign press? I can't recall anything blatantly negative in the American press.

Hm, I always wondered how the whole "Dangerous" thing went down. "Sorry, but Teddy Riley is already there"? Always made me wonder. Maybe there's your answer.

I believe Q. Jones was also asked about the things Michael said about his father. If he never had any indication abuse like this was going on. Jones looked at the camera, set up his face and said "never". Right after that a cut to Jermaine, Katherine and Joe Jackson being asked the same question.

I think it was in reference to Michael saying he was lonely. Jermaine basically saying oh what, he was lonely, what the hell haha. Joe going on about how he had his brothers- how could he have been lonely blabla.

It looked like a bunch of codependents and the abuser are denying anything ever happened. They didn't deny beating anyone- they just called "lovingly disciplinating your children" bla. It is very said to see a grown man (Jermaine) sitting there a be so very codependent. That kind of stuff is hard to overcome- but please imagine Michael. That classic abuse. You're the one saying, you beat me- and your family sits there and smiles and says, now come on, your exaggerating. That's abuse and co-dependency in a living example. I think that part aired with the "Living with Michael Jackson" rebuttal that Maury Povich hosted. My hair was standing up when I saw those three sitting there.

I am sure Jones wasn't blind but hey, after all that was child labor if you look at it closely. Wouldn't fly today. Heck, even "Jon and Kate" are being investigated for child labor vilations- now please imagine what the Jacksons went through. Being dragged to strip clubs?? Watching your older brothers have sex in a Hotel Room with you present??

I would't believe much of what the brothers have to say.

Quincy Jones just kind of ties in with all of that, don't tell me he didn't what was going on.

Why don't you ask Mr. Jones instead of starting a thread about it that he'll never see? He has a Myspace, lol.

I don't have a myspace account. :(

Maybe he has contact information on an official website or something. I would send him that link to the article, ask him if he really thinks that's true or if he was taken out of context, then say that a whole generation of superstars were inspired by Michael's talent or according to you, lack thereof.

Seriously, Michael Jackson is going to be remembered not only for his music, but for his sacrifices, his humanitarian work, his style, his creativity and art, and his message of love. Quincy Jones can only wish that he would be remembered in the way that Michael is. Michael is really all encompassing if you really think about it.

Whether this comment is true or not, Quincy did make rude comments about Michael's kids and that's a big no-no for me!

Wow...I am also a Spanish speaker and used to read El Pais regularly. I can confirm what others have said: a) El Pais is a serious newspaper b) that quote is translated correctly - "Michael Jackson didn't have that much talent" (in comparison with the other artists he mentioned - Ray Charles, etc.). Wow.

I can only hope that El Pais' translator made a mistake... but somehow I don't think so since they used it as the HEADLINE of their article!!! I've lost total respect for the guy as a person. Sorry but that's just unforgiveable.

Why is Quincy on and off about Michael? Maybe this is how he grieves but it's not really nice to do it this way if he is grieving

its not called grieving.... its calling sticking a knife in mj's back.

i really am hoping he did not say it. i won't hold my breath though. so many people when they were in Mj's life couldn't find a word bad to say.... once that spotlight is removed...

they come up with all this BS ... shame shame shame, everybody knows your name !

Do we really need TWO threads about this?................and, how does anyone know that this article is even real or valid?...........so much energy is always spent on stuff no one can confirm, I just don't get it?

The list of people that are becoming 'hated' in the MJ fan world is growing awfully large, IMO. Why not spend your energy elsewhere....like, helping others?

Well the list isn't that long. Aside from the expected targets of Roger Friedman, Diane Diamond, Tommy Matola, Martin Bashir, Thomas Sneddon, Dr. Murray, Dr. Klein, Peter King, and Nancy Grace, I've only read hateful or insinuating comments on this forum about Quincy Jones, Lisa Marie Presley, Oprah Winfrey, Sheryl Crow, Jermaine Jackson, Miko Brando, La Toya Jackson, Joe Jackson, Joh'Vonnie Jackson, Debbie Rowe, Thomas Messereu (sp?), Beyonce Knowles, MTV, VH1, Jack Black, Jimmy Fallon, the Beatles, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Deepak Chopra, the Jewish community, Randy J. Taborelli, Sony, Geraldo Rivera, Howard Stern, Frank Dileo, Elvis, Prince, Barrack Obama, Corey Feldman, Kenny Ortega, Bill O'Reilly, Fox News, Uri Geller, R. Kelly, John Landis, Rolling Stone magazine, Billboard magazine, GQ magazine, Soundcan, Adrian Grant, Bruce Springsteen, AEG, Eminem, Paris Hilton, the Eagles, Rabbi Schmuley, Steven Spielberg, the BET tribute, and the proposed Vienna tribute. Aside from all that, I don't see much complaining around here. . . . Is the song "Heal the World" or "Hate the World"? Just checkin.

I´ve read a few weeks ago in an Jazz magazine called Jazzthing that Quincy thinks that Prince is a genius and he praises him very very much but no word about Mike.

Wikipedia lists El Pais as a tabloid. Not the best source but...

I also found this excerpt from another site that shows El Pais traffic in the same garbage as th US an UK tabloids:

Below are pictures from Antonello Zappadu, published in Spanish tabloid newspaper, El Pais on Friday June 5 2009. The Berlusconi Villa scandal pictures by Antonello Zappadu threten another major scandal on the Italian Prime Minister after weeks of speculation about his relationship with model Noemi Letizia and his marriage split with wife Veronica Lario.

Based on that I am not willing to bash Quincy on the word of some tabloid.

Why is Quincy on and off about Michael? Maybe this is how he grieves but it's not really nice to do it this way if he is grieving

Jealousy. Michael said himself somehwere that QUincy owes Michael respect. This was said in a disposition in where there was an ongoing battle about the music written.

Well, Prince called Michael a musical genius. So I guess Prince can recognize talent better than Quincy. ;)
