In your music collection, do you have mostly male or female artists? And also, what is your gender? 'Cause i'm just curious to know if that makes a difference in the gender of the artists you listen to. I know a lot of guys who mainly only listen to male artists because they tell me they cannot relate to the subject matter that most female artists sing about, but I think good music is good music regardless.

-To answer the question though, I am female and I'd say I own more albums by male artists. I'd say my music collection consists of about 60% male artists and 40% female artists.

I listen to males most of the time...

Come to think of it...thats weird huh..LOL

My music heroes at te moment are MJ, Bob Marley, Mika, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Prince, Jim Morrison as well as some others.
Dont listen to females much..

I'd say the music pre-1990 would be mostly male. After 1990, most of the stuff I bought was female

Now that you asked, 90% of what I listen is male :bugeyed

Except of course, what I hear on the radio but that's mostly male too :bugeyed

I'm a girl and i listen to women...99.9% of the time..

Michael is the only male.

Hmmmm as for RnB id say 60percent females..and 40 males...rap 90percet male, pop 50 50

I noticed this too.. looking at my ipod a large, large majority is male..

Hmmm, I thought about the fact that I listen to males more than females. I also tend to be a bit harsh to female singers/artists more than males because I expect female artists/singers to sing rather than whine. LOL. BTW, I am female.

I'm female and usually listen to male artists :D I can't really explain why, I guess I relate to a male voice better than to a female one  Sometimes I find a male performance more real than a female one, in the sense that women often fake emotions and exaggerate them. Men do that too, of course, but I think it happens more seldom than in female cases.

If I'm gonna listen to a female singer, then her voice had better be damn good  Either that, or a ridiculously good song

I listen to mostly all male music. I don't know to be honest i don't take female singers seriously. I guess because I see them as using their sexuality to market themselves rather than their talent. Maybe that's me being biased. And i am sorry for sounding that way.
I mean I know many male singers use their own sexuality as their image as well, but I guess I feel that it's different. I can't really explain it very well...

i'd say it's about the same, although as an instrument i do enjoy a female's voice differently (but not necessarily better) than a male's, specifically in a sensuous and sexy way. and i'm talking about the likes of Minnie Riperton, Marsha Ambrosius, Leila Arab who just naturally know how to convey their sensual feelings across a song. it's too attractive.

as for male vocals, it's more of an association than a spiritual lap-dance but admiring the unique quality of vocalists is universal across all genders so i don't have a preference.

I am a girl...and although I do listen to male music..the majority of the time I'll listen to female...
my top 5 fav artists are all female (except for michael and his brothers of course)...

That's not true of all female acts.

Hmm, thinking about it I think it's about 50/50 for me. I have to say though, I think I get more joy from listening to the female voice. A really soulful female voice, you can't beat it!

For some reason I prefer male artists... I only listen to a couple of female singers....
